IGN recently had a list of the 10 best games of the decade.  If you were to create your own 10 best games of the last 10 years, what would it look like?

The Orange Box isn't a game, it's a compilation... It's actually 5 games, now I think about it.

Not in any order:

1. Fallout 3 (currently my favourite, I'd wager)

2. Oblivion

3. Mass Effect

4. Mass Effect 2

5. Mirror's Edge

6. BioShock 1

7. BioShock 2

8. Portal

9. Left 4 Dead

10. And to top it off... GTA IV.

Not in any order:.

All the more reason it sits at the top.

Mass Effect 2 shouldn't be on lists, it was released in 2010, and if you include 2000, that is not part of the decade. If you go from 2001-2010, though, I suppose that's legitimate.

Still, just nitpicking here.

Call of Cthulhu:Dark Corners of the Earth! Now that is an underrated gem. Would've loved it a lot more if it weren't for the mediocre stealth elements but still, good taste.

Wikipedia:

Some writers like to point out that since the common calendar starts from the year 1, its first full decade contained the years from 1 to 10, the second decade from 11 to 20, and so on.[6] So while the "1960s" comprises the years 1960 to 1969, the "197th decade" spans 1961 to 1970.

so it's a little early to make a "games of the decade" list because the decade is not over yet.

Still, just nitpicking here. ;-)

Hence why I made that point in my first post, saying the decade could be 2001-2010 as well, depending on how you look at it.

So your point? ;-)

Front Mission 3 came out this decade?  I almost forgot.  Great game, definetly the best in the Front Mission series.  If this were a top 25 list it would be there for me.

hrmm..no particular order:

- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (xbox)

- Splinter Cell (xbox)

- Baldur's Gate II:Shadows of Amn (PC!)

- Warcraft III (PC!)

- Super Mario Galaxy(Wii)

- Little Big Planet (PS3)

- Mass Effect (360)

- TES III: Morrowind (PC!)

- Final Fantasy IX (PS1) *I count 2000*

- Shenmue? (was this 2000? don't remember....)

OR - Shadowbane (yea it was an MMO...but a great one. RIP.)

*I had to mix in some console games, though they're not the same as PC games, they're great in their own right. I miss the day when I could realistically expect to play new PC releases on my computer...those days are gone, and my PC has since felt largely inadequate :(

10. Hitman: Blood Money - I know it didn't get a whole lot of attention, but I've played this game countless times and still like it.

9. Kingdom Hearts - When I first heard Disney characters were being put into a Squaresoft game I cried foul, but it was indeed awesome...though to be fair, at times the dialogue made me cringe :P

8. Call of Duty - The first one...countless hours were put into the multiplayer.

7. SW: Kotor - Don't even need to comment.

6. Half Life 2 - The first game that really felt like an 'experience' and not just a game. Played it one sitting, and still play it today.

5. ***Metal Gear Solid 4*** I'm not counting this as a game, because...it wasn't really a game. It was a movie with short mediocre gunplay after 20 minute cutscenes. But I felt i should include it on here anyway.
***The Sims*** This is my #5 pick. Addicting, endless customization, and just simply awesome.

4. Uncharted 2 - A singleplayer game more awesome than the first, and multiplayer that isn't half bad. And holy crap its beautiful.

3. Dragon Age: Origins - With loads of playstyles and challenge, an
awesome story, and great customization tools, it is definatly top 5 of
the decade, and top 15 of all time for me.

2. World of Warcraft - What can i say...been playing for 5 years, since beta, and i'm still around. With over a year total playtime put into a single character, I think I have the credentials to claim that this is the most addicting game ever. Oh and its kinda fun too.

1. Mass Effect - My favorite game of all time as well. I played it countless times, can recite half the dialogue (both paragon and renegade!). I can't explain my love for it. My copy of Mass Effect will be buried with me, if it hasn't melted from being overplayed.

Ahhh!  Too many acronyms.  I know KOTOR and I'm guessing VTMB is Vampire The Masquerade:Bloodlines and DA is Dragon Age but what is TSL?

Come on, just spell out the word.
