Hey Folks,

I just wanted to share a piece of Mass Effect fan art with you that I’ve been working on. I don’t usually do a lot of art for other peoples IPs but Mass Effect is so gripping, so frikkin awesome that I just had to paint it. The hardest part has been tearing myself away from the game long enough to paint this.

I’ll put a small version here on the site, but if you follow the link you’ll find a larger version.

On another note I started a Liara sculpt ages back that I never had a chance to finish. She’s in ME1
Armour and stands about 10 inches tall, if I get time I’ll see if I can finish her off and post pics. – Take it easy!

Large Image

EDIT: I'll put the Omega links here as well as with the relevant post on PG 4

Very, very impressive. I LOVE the painting technique, colors and overall composition - the way you use the red beam of light (ala Illusive Man's "office" area, I'm guessing?) to connect everything together and bring attention to the center is fantastic. I also love Samara's positioning to further unify it. :D Would make an excellent large poster. :)

As for posting images into the forum... *Points to her signature*

Hey Thank you very much!

Cheers VirtualAlex, i definitely had that kind of sci-fi art in mind when i was painting this!

Thanks Dalish Ranger, the composition was one of the elements that i found the hardest to get right. I wanted to give as many of the characters a billing as possible, it was hard to know who to keep in and who to take out for the sake of the arrangement. Thanks for the image linking advice, much appreciated!

You're quite welcome. :)

Compositions can be quite tricky, I know. I don't know if I've ever done one I was fully satisfied with.

I took a peek at your profile/site and I have to say - amazing work overall! That, and as a recent college graduate with a fine arts degree looking for work, I envy your career. It's pretty much my ideal job, though one I realistically understand I'll likely never get due to high competition and lower demand than other jobs.

Holy sweet bajuessus thats awesome!Image IPB

Really do dig that pic mate. Gotta say though, it really does feel like a poster for one of the earlier starwars films. Not that theres anything wrong with that.

No jacob? Won't be long before some people shout out racism.

But anyway Holy **** thats good. I bet in kindergarden when the little kids were drawing there family as stick figures holding hands. You were drawing the mona lisa smile. And on a side note nice job on samaras cleavage lol.

That is absolutely awesome!  I love it, though it reminds me why I hate artists: they can draw while I can't. :D  I like the lighting you got going, and love the arc you got going from Jack, I particularly like your version of Miranda as well, as that one is a Miranda I could quite happily get behind. :innocent:  Though since you didn't use my Shepard it can't be classed as canon, sorry those are the rules.

No Zaeed either, but that's no great loss.  I count eight of the eleven NPCs, which means that there is another one missing but I cannot for the life of me work out which one it is.

EDIT: Legion, that's whose missing!

Cheers, had a serious mental block going on there.  Must be getting old.

Hey DalishRanger, thanks for checking out my other work, glad you like it! As for getting into this industry, don’t discount it too quickly. True, it is hard to break in, but if you have the basic skills perseverance can get you a good way down the road to nailing that job. I myself am self taught.

I did a Graphics Degree, but that couldn’t have been further away from the development of traditional skills if you tried. I came out of Uni, saw what other illustrators and concept artists were doing, busted my gut for a year and finally caught a lucky break. I’ve been doing this for about 4 years now. I thought Concept Art was one of those jobs that only ‘other people’ landed, turns out that wasn’t the case.

Angry Finn – Many thanks! Yeah I definitely had the old Star Wars posters by Drew Struzan in the back of my mind whilst doing this.

LovelyJubley – Ha! Yeah I was always drawn to the paints at Kindergarden…though I think my preferred method was blowing paint around a paper plate with a straw…not much call for that in my work these days ;P As for Jacob, the only reason he isn’t in this piece is because it’s partially related to my play through of ME2 and I simply didn’t use him a lot. That’s not to say I didn’t like the character, it was just for me personally when you can choose ancient Asari warrior monks and cold blooded alien assassins there wasn’t much of a contest.

To be honest I don’t actually like Jack a great deal, but I had a good pose for her that worked within the composition, so I chose her over Legion. If I do more pieces, Jacob may get a look in there, just depends what I’m going for.

FlintlockJazz – Cheers dude, glad you’re liking Miranda ;)

I approve of this, because Tali occupies her proper place as canon love interest. :)

Also, its great work.

Wow, that's some superb skills you got there... Really liking this piece. It does have that awesome "old scifi" look going on, which I really, really love.

I also took a quick look at your website. Your art, especially the ID is... Intresting (in a good way).

Anyway, I think that's enough asskissery for today ;)Keep up the good work!

Wow, that is so awesome! Image IPB It looks like something you would buy in the ME2 store, it is so good.  And your Miranda is so much prettier than the in-game Miranda, imo.

I'm calling machinism! ;p

It's a great piece though. When I first saw it, I thought 'I damn well hope that art is this person's job cos they're amazing at it' but it is so I'm happy.

It's kind of a shame it's not wallpaper-sized really. And that it doesn't have Legion in it, and if I'm being super picky, I think Garrus looks better with the battle damage, but I really do mean I'm being picky. It's a really good piece of work.

And is it wrong that Samara's bluebs caught my attention long before I saw that Tali was paired up with Shepard? <_<
