It seems all of the romance options for Jacob make Shepard sound extremely desperate.  It actually sounded like Jacob was a bit intimidated, as if Shepard were about to rape him or something.

Anyways, is it possible to romance Jacob while picking any of the neutral or renegade options or does Shepard have to act like a drunken college girl?

Thats why I remained faithful to Kaidan. Wasn't too hard after my first slu...err "romantic" talks with Jacob.

The next time you are calling me a priiize, you'll be picking your teeth up from the floor.

Just mentioning.

I know it was a line in ME1 when talking to Harkin... don't know if it made it into ME2 though.

Yeah... I was really annoyed with the way my Shep acted to Jacob. I really wouldn't mind airlocking him either... It can't be that hard to find someone else to run the armory. >.>

LOL! After my first conversation with Jacob I never talked to him again until his personal quest came up. I was completely embarrassed with how ****ty my femShep sounded and it was the first conversation.

Actually, now that I think of it, there are quite a few conversation options in all the romances that just didn't really work. Were there similar issues with the manShep romances?

makes a little more sense with garrus since they already know each other but the dialogue with jacob just sounds like its from a bad porno.

I was talking to Jacob last night and I remember one of the options. We were talking about what the crew needed to to stay focused and be inspired for the mission and I kid you not the Paragon choice was "I want you to need me" I didn't pick that but come on that wasn't even the point of that dialogue but of course we have to throw in the desperate ****ty Shep response. I don't know what Shep actually says there but there was no way I was picking that.

I kind of reacted in a negative way the first time my shepard talked with Jacob, especially since she prefers women and was staying loyal to liara, but as I continued through the conversations with him (steering clear of the obvious "I WANT YOU NOW" options), the more it seemed to me like my shepard just had a sort of informal camaraderie thing going on with him.

The fact that he never hits on female shepard once even though someone else might have interpreted her manner as flirtatious seals the deal. She feels comfortable sounding a little flirty because he's not threatening and he's not fawning over her. In fact, he even kind of goes "you know, I don't really trust you yet, I don't know if I should even be talking to you" and you have the option to be like "Alright man, I'll back off a bit if you're uncomfortable."

The line at the end of the chain where he's like "We're good! We'll have some drinks on the citadel" sealed it for me. This is a man that respects shepard enough that she feels comfortable letting her hair down a little, even if she has no interest in romancing him, and he doesn't misinterpret it as anything other than having an awesome captain. Honestly, it made me want to have one of my shepards romance him, even though I had no interest up till that point. Jacob is a more well written character than people give him credit for.

Thane on the other hand... going on about his dead wife and then making up a creepy pet name for shepard? Those talks got a little uncomfortable.

Really? ****ty? I didnt get that vibe at all, I felt femshep was empowering and toyed with the poor witless fella. The problem if anything is you have no choice but being all saultry with him, but romance/nothing is a common theme in ME2. I still felt it was better than the "subtly-but-not-so-sublte-inflating-of-chest-poor-baby-come-to-momma ordeal with Thane. Garrus was the best conversation wise.

Though my femsheps endeavours happen off-screen mostly, with anything from 2 to 8 imaginary partners. Foolish notion of sex=love is not for my femsheps, it´s a great stress relief, power demonstration, cardiac training and substitues for 30 minutes jogging. win-win.

This.  Agreed, completely.  It was embarrassing.  My Shep is not desperate - she doesn't need to act that way.

The problem is not so much that Shep can be an aggressive woman, she probably is to some extent being a military commander. Its that if you want to talk paragon to Jacob you HAVE to talk that way there is no other option. The romance dialogue should have been a side-branch dialogue that expanded not the only option.

Its basically

Paragon. = Throw yourself at Jacob

Neutral = Friendly but not too forward (these are usually the best)

Renegade = Bipolar. One time you may be giving him a suggestive line the next time you berate him for something.
