Not really, 10 or so people dying to stop a leader of a huge, dangerous merc band?  I'm not normally an 'ends justify the means' kinda guy, but here its perfectly fine, in my opinion to let them die so you can get Santiago.

That was hilarious letting the workers die so that Zaeed could pursue their target. The way he said

"NOOOO!" and then that piece of metal flew at the screen. HAHA!

Telling EDI that she's just a machine when she says she would never do anything to hurt your team because they are her crewmates. She's all like "Oh I would never do anything to hurt you guys if I was unshackled because you guys are my crew mates." And Shepard's all like "Stfu EDI! You're just a ****n computer!"... Alright it wasn't exactly like that but it was still a real douche bag thing Shepard says.

I feel like Shepard was a bigger douchebag in the first game, though, whether you are going for that or not. In ME2 I think I generally found the renegade stuff more defensible, or at least funnier. But there are definite exceptions.

Remember how you could be a douche to Joker in the first game when he mentions his health problem? "I can't have someone here infecting my crew," something to that effect? You can make a similar comment to Thane, which I thought was at least a bit douchey, although the Joker comment in ME1 is still worse.

I think it's probably telling your surviving crew to find their way back to the ship unescorted by one of your squadmates during the suicide mission.  Nothing made me feel more like an ass.

I agree comletely with this in spirit.  It struck me as being extremely callous, and particularly horrifying if you metagame it (know that sending them back unescorted will result in their deaths).  If you can stomach not metagaming (which is pretty much impossible for me in that situation), sending them back unescorted is, technically, an understandable choice.  Stopping the collectors is more important than anyone surviving the mission - both Paragon and Renegade Shepards agree on that.  So... I can understand not wanting to proceed without your full team intact.

So, while I found sending the crew back unescorted to be so personally reprehensible that I couldn't stomach doing it, se decision to do so does, at least, have a logical supporting argument.

To me, the single most "douchbag" decision that a Renegade Shepard can possibly make is to choose Morinth over Samara.  Not only is doing so a morally reprehensible decision for many reasons, it is also impractical.  Even if you think that Samara's code is immoral in its own right, you are still trading a highly trained warrior who eats, drinks, and breathes discipline - and one who has sworn a solemn oath of sevice to you as well - for a psychotic murderer who chose long ago to hunt her own kind for pleasure rather than living a life of discipline and restraint.  Never mind the fact that she's obsessed with personal power games, possibly addicted to drugs, and has delusions of being some kind of half-assed artist.  Honestly, it pisses me off that Bioware even put the choice to take Morinth in the game.  There is absolutely no good in-game reason to do so.

The thing I find the most amusing is that the main argument I see for a renegade taking her is that they dislike Samara's "high and mighty" code.  The truth of the matter is that a Paragon should honestly have a much bigger problem with the Justicar Code than a Renegade.  The essence of the Justicar code is "fight injustice, no matter the cost."  That's pretty damned Renegade.  In fact, most of the snarky or argumentative comments you can make to Samara are Paragon conversation options.  Taking Morinth over Samara isn't "edgy" or "rogue" or "badass" - it's just f**king stupid.

Don't misunderstand me, I think everyone should play how they feel like playing.  I'll even pick Morinth myself soon, but it will be in an "ultimate idiot" playthrough where I try to make as many "bad" choices at possible.  BTW, if any of you play Dragon Age and have never done that, you really ought to sometime.  You can pretty much depopulate both your camp and entire regions of the world.

Pour me a glass, Noilly :)

Yeah, I think that has to be the biggest feat of douchebaggery on my part... firing Thane up then blowing him out, knowing full well he'll have total recall of the whole episode until he finally croaks.

Not a Renegade action, didn't kill anyone, but certainly about as damn heartless as you can get... trifling with a dying man's affections.

Yeah, Renegade Shepard in Mass Effect 2 isn't nearly as big of a douchebag as he was in Mass Effect 1.

Like when he tells Shiala "You must die!" and then kills her execution style or when he tells that Turian to release that racist terrorist or else he'll kill everyone in the room because he's a Spectre. Total douchebag.

So true about the Paragon Shepard having more issues with Samara's code than a Renegade Shepard... But I suppose you choose the lesser of the two evils by picking Samara.

Only reasons for saving Morinth I suppose is if Shepard can't stand the thought of a mother killing her own daughter, not matter how screwed up the daughter is. (Family issues.) Or perhaps stupidly, Shepard is legitimately infatuated with Morinth.

Neat, or mixed with anything?  ;)

I also have to agree about the Morinth decision.  I think it might have been a sort of cool choice to make if Morinth's character were more developed, and if you had a chance to get to know her and hear her side of things before making the choice, but as it stands, only an idiot Shepard would kill Samara and take her along.  Another way it could have worked is if there were a series of events which would ultimately lead to siding with one over the other, or getting one of them killed and being stuck with the other, but simply presenting us with the Kill Morinth/Kill Samara choice... it's kind of a no brainer, unless you're just really curious to see what happens if you take Morinth (admittedly, I was, and had to reload a save just to find out).

when you bring legion to the migrant fleet there's a renegade interrupt to threaten to take of your helmet and spread your germs if they don't let legion stay.

that one didn't actually strike me as being as bad as a lot of the other stuff shep can do. I mean even if some germs got on their ship they all still have their suits on. Quarians come across as a bit paranoid like that, completely sterilized ships and they still keep their suits on.

honestly some of the most rude things shep can do imo are actually paragon actions, grabbing a teamate's arm to prevent them from doing a renegade action...idk but it just seemed very unprofessional and rude, it was like I was forcing my morals on my allies.

I think the worst thing though is screwing over Garrus' revenge....it'd be like para-interrupting Samara when she's going to finish off Morinth.

Wow...just

On the rocks is good!

I was never particularly impressed with Shep's line right at the beginning about going to save Joker's crippled ass. Clicked that by accident and thought wow, classy...

I mostly roll paragon, but of the handful of times I dabbled in the renegade side, the only thing I really felt bad about was roughing up Mouse. And afterward Thane starts reminiscing about the kid and it's like wow...guilt trip complete.

As for making the crew return by themselves, a true renegade with absolute dedication to getting the job done would've armed them and forced them to come with him!

Ratting on mouse is pretty bad because there is literally no point to it. But I think killing Samara is by far the worse, especially when you remember all of her dialogue leading up to the encounter with Morinth. You're pretty much the only person she has trusted enough to reveal all of this information, and she is incredibly grateful to you for doing this. Then you stab her in the back, causing the mission she has dedicated over 300 years to completing to fail, and siding with her target in the process. Most renegade actions have some justification, but there really is none for this other than being chaotic stupid.

The Salarian I agree with but when it comes to any Batarian in the Mass Effect universe I have not problem doing the renegade option even when playing a paragon. Batarians=slavers, mass murderers, and basically complete d-bags. They just annoy the hell out of me too.  Too bad you can't shoot the one on Omega who puts his hand across his neck...tool.
