Nowadays I just don't talk to her besides her loyalty mission, which I don't always do either.

Pretty much. I ended the conversation with saying that I don't just want sex (I just wanted to talk, nothing romantic) and the camera made it like that I was being emotional and introspective and falling in love with her when I turned my back to her :/ Decided to reload and just not talk to her anymore.Aisynia wrote...
Beyond that same point, talking to her as a male means you are pursuing her.
I guess it might make sense in context of her character. Maybe she hasn't really had that many friends. In that Cerberus experiment facility I imagine that most kids hated eachother in addition to fighting each other anyway. Then she joined some gangs and cults which werent really her friends, and she got manipulated by that one couple for sex. So maybe for her character someone talking to her so much is probably asking for sex or a relationship, instead just a friendship.

Not talking to anyone.UKJackMan wrote...
If your trying to maintain a relationship from ME1 this must be a bad situation having to choose between Miranda and Jack...presumably you have to choose one or...Is there an option to choose neither?

Just turn them both down when they ask you about it. When they fight, choose the Para/gade option to settle the dispute without losing loyalty. You can choose neither. The conversation options are a bit confusing to say the least.
To answer OPs question: If you were "nice" to Jack (no sex, etc.) but have started a relationship with Miranda, for some reason Jack will not want anything more to do with you unless you choose her. I don't understand it either really.

Well on one of my playthroughs I am having my male Shep stay faithful to Ashley (he is essentially full Paragon btw), and if you turn Jack down without already having a potential LI on board the Normandy at the time, she won't say anything more than "**** off," if you try to speak with her.UKJackMan wrote...

If she is saying you have to choose her or miranda, that means you already have something started with miranda and that to fully romance jack, you must call it off with miranda.
Or so I think.
So you could end up with a relationship you don't really want and be considered a cheat by your ME1 love interest...

This is what I ended up doing. Just wait till Kelly tells you they want to see you, get loyalty mission, get upgrade, done. None of the LI's are as interesting as Mordin anyway.

Almost all relationships are forced upon you if it is a potential LI. You basically have to tell them to stop ogling and you're not interested. then they quit talking to you. Ashley and Kaidan still give dialogue after you dump one of them, but ME2 NPCs have little to nothing to say if you tell them the same. Its sad really....
Its possible BW did it this way on purpose. Makes it clear these aren't "friends" and "good buddies" the way the ME1 crew could be. If you don't want to **** then GTFO. At least that is how I took it.

What about Kelly Chambers...is this seen as a relationship or a bit of fun...would it have any baring on other relationships...or is she just a little bit of fluff on the side...
Bits of fluff.
She won't affect any of your LIs from ME1 (presumably) - inviting her up doesn't make the picture frame turn down.

Can you imagine a life where the only way to NOT have sex with someone of the opposite sex is simply not to talk to them? That's Shepard's world right there.
It's a little annoying there aren't more dialogue options for such a character driven storyline, and some of the dialogue wheel options when speaking to a member of the opposite gender are utterly misleading and it is actually quite easy to accidently romance a character.
I hope they add more platonic dialogue for your team in ME3 and maybe have romances only start by picking a certain dialogue as a 'trigger point' Maybe even make said trigger point green or something just so when we start an ME relationship it's because we wanted to, not because we wanted to learn more about the charcter.

Be Nice to Jack. Do her Loyalty mission. Talk to her.
Jack: Shepard. You got feelings for me?
(pick no)
Jack: (blah blah)
(pick: "No romance)
There, you are now not in a romance with Jack.

Every single one of them has a point where you can say "Not interested" it requires you to read and not simply go "Top Right is paragon response!"

I had done this, I made sure she got the message. Even so, the only dialogue I can have with her is her telling me to choose between her and Miranda. I don't have this problem with Tali.
