That's because the way to get around Jack's insecurity is to make sure she knows that you're not after her body. She's so used to pushing people away that romance probably terrifies her. By saying 'no' to romance even though he really wants to, Shepard is being extremely canny because it makes Jack want to come to him instead.

Of course, that doesn't help if the player doesn't get that. The middle option could probably have been better flagged as being an insincere 'no'.

I had done this, I made sure she got the message. Even so, the only dialogue I can have with her is her telling me to choose between her and Miranda. I don't have this problem with Tali.

That's because you choosed something different elsewere. That happened in my first playthrough, but not in my actual Canon Shepard one (was going to be the first, but I screwed up a little).

Anyway, I don't mind not being able to talk to Jack anymore after that, because that's the way she is. Even with Miranda, because you tell her to "stay professional" if the option triggers (you may just be able to avoid it if you don't ALWAYS choose the Paragon option). But some people like Tali or Garrus should have gotten al least 1 casual convo somewhere in the game. Like, I don't know, Mordin's singing xD

But well, I had no real problem avoiding potencial romance to "activate" once I knew that, you know, characters would still feel some attraction for you even if you don't want it. The lack of at least one more convo for Tali, Garrus, Miranda or Thane bothers me a little, but I like to see that characters have their own feelings and positions (Jack's pretty an example of it) about you, because how are those characters, not because you "trigger" it.

Jack can force anything she wants upon me. I do have question though, if I romance Tali and Jack till the end...can I still romance Tali? The last thing she says to me when I say I want to be exclusive is to let Jack know that I only want her. Do I always get the Jack romance scene over the Tali romance scene in the end?

Yeah, in my first playthrough, where I snogged Tali, Jack started giving me that "her or me" talk. Now I admit I played the field with her and Miranda a bit before recruiting Tali (I was hoping Tali would be romanceable, but wanted to have options in case she wasn't), but I'm pretty sure I clearly told her "not interested" at one point. Plain as day. Like, 92% sure.



I figured she just didn't believe me.

Just make sure to say "no" when she asks you if you are interested in her. If you start the relationship then she gets her feelings hurt if you call it off after she opened up to you.

If you talk to her enough to where she makes you choose between her and someone else, then you should know that you have said you wanted a relationship with her. She asks you if you have feelings for her, and only the renegade option prevents a romantic relationship from forming between her and Shepard. And if you do say you don't have feelings for her, then she'll keep telling you to **** off whenever you talk to her. You can't just be friends with Jack, I know it's annoying. It's pretty much all or nothing with her.

Ya I think it was just a matter of having only so many lines of dialogue. Hopefully in ME3 you can talk to squadmates of the opposite sex often and not have a romantic relationship with them, and just have a friendsip with them.

She only tells you that if you back out of a relationship.  If you never start one (tell her "No, I'm not interested.  We'll keep this strictly buisness") then she won't drop the f-bomb every time you talk to her... she just says that you have talked enough and now you are just pissing around.
