Having just hit the Horizon's quest and completed it, I am wondering: is this the moment that determines Shep's survival at endgame?
I played through once as renegade and said "meh" when Ashley left. But playing with an imported femshep having done the Kaiden romance, it just does not feel in character to say "i'm over it". however, i wonder if holding a torch for your boyfriend is what causes you to make a short jump in the end?
i could test this myself, yes, but honestly, i don't want to play through the ENTIRE rest of game only to come back to horizons.
thoughts?

Hey Sage, nice to see you here. :-)
No, that is not the moment that determines the end of mission outcome. After Horizon, you can talk to Joker and Kelly about the mission to give more of a sense of how your character feels about what happened, but even that doesn't affect the endgame.

you always make a short jump....if your squaddies all died and no one is there to pull you up you die

This is true. They haven't gone to such suicidal lengths that Shep deciding his/her ME LI relationship is over and so screw it. The only reason Shep dies is because you don't have 2 squadmates alive at the end and thus no one is there to help Shep up from that jump other than Joker who gets shot at whilst doing so and so Shep decides that Joker has to get out of there and give the message that the Reapers are coming.

Why the hell would something like that effect whether you survive the suicide mission or not? I don't want to sound like an **** but what insane leap of logic did you take to reach that conclussion?

wow. that was a very fast reply. thank you.
okay, that makes sense. it makes a heck of a lot more sense than dying because you told the illusive man to mind his own d*mn business re: your relationships (Which i so enjoy doing)
thanks all. and nice to see you too, estelindis.

weeellll...now that you mention it is does sound a little crazy. i guess that since your squad mates all become loyal over putting their past business behind them, and the illusive man treats this like it's your unfinished business (it even feels to me like he sets you up just so he can effectively sever your ties with your past and the alliance), it seemed like perhaps this was your own "loyalty" mission (loyalty to cerberus, that is).
so yeah, didn't want to test that theory with another how many hours of gameplay. my husband is already getting sick of my 2nd playthrough...

I love taking that conversation option too.sagequeen wrote...

If I was really RPing my Shepard, though, I'd lie and tell TIM I was totally over Kaidan so that he wouldn't take any more drastic steps. But, in general, RPGs tend not to take into account the possibility that one may not mean what one actually says. (On the other hand, the fact that one can, in fact, tell TIM, Joker, and Kelly that one is over Kaidan while still staring at his pic and staying faithful may be a way of allowing for that. Don't know... Just couldn't bring myself to take those "don't care" options!)
