We have updated the Dragon Age: Origins Awakening website with a new world update featuring the Dragonbone Wastes.

Dragon Bone Wastes

Far to the south of Thedas, nestled between high, forboding mountains, is a place where they say dragons go to die. There, in that harsh and wild land, a dragon at the end of her days would lie down and allow the bitter cold to take her.

You can read more about the Dragonbone Wastes and see 4 screenshots on teh Awakening webiste here: http://dragonage.bio...gonbone_wastes/.

Sounds like we'll be traveling quite a long distance! :) I had imagined we would spend the entire time in northern Ferelden, but apparently that won't be the case. Anyway, Dragonbone Wastes looks like a very interesting, forbidding setting. :)

Me too though I had hoped it was a monster preview. My big concern is that the monster previews gang up and are unleashed all at once, overwhelming us. Posted Image

As for the Dragonbone Wastes, looks pretty cool. You have to ponder if all these map locations are 'dungeon' levels in and of themselves, if so, that would be great.

LOL. I'm not alone! Though, I think it'd be awesome if it did actually look that way, as in if the area was actually largely constructed by bones - not just a few sticking out of the ground here and there. I look forward to it, regardless!

Looks good, with the right music playing in background, would be a chilling but intriguing place to explore. Huge fan of haven area and its temple, so hope this is on par with that vision.

Between Hespith's little rhyme, the Reaper IFF level in ME2, and now this I am starting to think Bioware should make a survival horror game.

I always thought Ferelden was on the southern hemisphere, considering it gets colder towards the south and tropical towards the north of Ferelden. So it might not be such a long distance after all ;)

I will play "Be Prepared" on loop whenever I enter.

But seriously, best looking area of the new expansion.

I've got to agree with noir201 that the music in this location is either going to make it or break it. Bioware's done well thus far in matching musical tonality with environment so this should prove to be a really neat location.

More like SMV, or southern IC, imo.

Looks sweet, though. More dargons to fight, perhaps?

It's a fair enough comparison. But the idea, as far as I know, originated in Dungeons and Dragons as many things tend to in our genre. I think they called it a Dragon Graveyard. Which is just another fancy word for where Dragons go to die. I'll be interested to see what BioWare does with the concept though.

All those dead dragons.....that where the Nevarran hunters conducted their dragon massacres?
