This is undoubtedly the new area I'm the least interested in, but it looks cool nonetheless!

Now if only we can re-animate some of the skeletons there...

No, the Nevarran hunters are from Nevarra which is far to the north, right next to the Tevinter Imperium. When the dragon knows that they're about to die, they make the trip there and wait to die. This place reminded me of the elephant graveyard from Lion King and I hope they put a replica of Sid, the crazy hyena, in there.

I know I may get flak for saying this:

But I hope they don't cram too many places of interest in a small area such as Amaranthine. I wouldn't mind a few "boring" locations if that means that not everything in Thedas history happaned to happen in Amaranthine :)

I don't think it's in Amaranthine, actually.

Because Amaranthine is too expensive, and the Dragons couldn't afford buying a graveyard there. Posted Image

"Far to the south of Thedas, nestled between high, forboding mountains, is a place where they say dragons go to die. There, in that harsh and wild land, a dragon at the end of her days would lie down and allow the bitter cold to take her."

None of that fits Amaranthine. It's a coastal land, so I don't see how mountains and  a harsh, wild environement can fit there. Plus, it says "To the far south". Amaranthine isn't far south.

In addition, This screenshot:

Shows us an imperial highway.
We know imperial highways streched to the south of Ferelden and not north.

At least as far as we know.

I might be wrong. But I do not think this region is in Amaranthine.

EDIT: Actually wait. There is an Imperial highway to the west and it may stretch to the north. But it's hardly desolate and it would be easy to reach, which is not the desrciption is implying.

I guess when the description says to the "far south of Thedas," isn't Ferelden itself considered towards the south of all Thedas?

But then like KnightofPhoenix mentioned, you've got what looks like the Imperial Highway in disrepair in the screenshots... so maybe its out towards the Frostbacks? No clue really- I was just under the impression we were staying in the immediate vicinity of Amaranthine for Awakening. Maybe we go to the Dragonbone wastes towards the end to set up whatever new area we explore in future expansions?

Looks like the Dragonbone Wastes might well be down in those Uncharted Territories. That'd be pretty rockin'.

It seems like it would be in the Frostbacks, but Soldier's Peak was in the north of Ferelden in what was presumably another mountain range and was also cold (though the implication in Gaider's novels is that all of Ferelden is always pretty cold).

This looks like it will take place in the uncharted territories. I always wondered what was down there; for Thedas could be a lot bigger than the current map shows us- like the wastes next to Orlais.

I wonder what will bring us down there? Perhaps the bones of previously slain Old Gods are there.

Isn't there the travel mechant's "fine weapons and arms" place??

Well, dragons like collecting treasures, so we can expect a huge pile of gold coin mountain there?

Ferelden is to the far south of Thedas. That said, I think such a graveyard would feel more in place in Nevarra than here.

I'm guessing this place has a lot to do with Wade and Herren's side quests,:)

Where the hell did someone find that one? And by the looks of it, that will be the only map, I guess... could be wrong...

Also, this place gets me in my mind :
PC : "Well... I, uh... found dragonbone... lots... of... dragonbone...
Wade : "Hohoho! You heard Herren, LOOOOTS of dragonbone!"
Herren : "Please Maker, not AGAIN!"

Yes it is does! Was wondering as well where they got all the dragonbone to make the weapons and armor from. I like my warden commander armor but I would not mind a kickbutt set of dragonbone from Herron either. Am itching to get my hands on that game, ready for new adventures and more areas to explore.

Lol, what's the fuss about the Lion King? Elephant graveyards are a real thing!

Btw, I find amusing that the difficulty in creating a beautiful area in nowadays CRPGs is so high that the areas themselves get their own lore and marketing stuff. Let's give an hour of open air to the designers of DA areas, deserved. Only one hour, mind.

I was thinking the same thing...
Now all we need is some hyena's popping out of that huge Dragon Skull..

:P

This made me laugh out loud.
Well this explains why the duo is reappearing in Awakenings XD

In Origins Herren got mad at me and kicked me out of his shop.....revenge will be sweet.
