I think somewhere near or off Dragonpeak would make the most sense. The other possibility would be in the Korcari Wilds since it is far south and sits between 2 mountain ranges with much of it uncharted and unexplored, and an Imperial highway ends abruptly near where the witch was.

It is sort of cliche but its a good cliche.
I don't really mind when Bioware does the old classics as they tend to do them right, dig deeper and not just a surface version. The game is called Dragon Age so there really should be a bone yard somewhere.

I agree with the guys who say this is probably at dragon's peak.

But as far as I know, Dragon's peak is the mountain chain protecting Denerim from the south, and is seen on top of Fort Drakon. Also, Dragon's Peak appears to be a bann-ed place. Like saying Walking Sea, or whatever else... But we'll see-

Looks like the Dragonbone Wastes might well be down in those Uncharted Territories. That'd be pretty rockin'.

If they add fog and creepy music then this will end up the most amazing place in the game.

so to correct you, who claim it makes sense if Dragonbone Wastes were somewhere near Dragon's Peak
1.)it cannot be in or near Dragons Peak, as that location is in Ferelden south from Denerim. And Ferelden is a kingdom in the southeast part of Thedas (link to prove it -> http://dragonage.wik...m/wiki/Ferelden).
Thedas is a continent in the southern hemisphere.
2.) as it's far south from Thedas, according to map it is located in Uncharted Territory.

Is there a full map of the DA world somewhere that includes Awakening areas (as in actually marked on the map)?
Btw, Thedas is missing it's H under the right map of this page: dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Locations

This seems like an excellent area for exploring. It has something of mystery around it and a little touch of horror. It is surely going to be fun - a beutiful place to gaze upon (and why wouldn't fog and bones be beautiful?).
About the location: I tought all the story of Awakening was going to happen on the Arling of Amaranthine. I WAS EVEN A BIT DISAPPOINTED WHEN IT WAS REVEALED YESTERDAY (for me, last night), ON THE BROADCAST, THAT WE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO VISIT 'ORIGINS' PLACES AND TOWNS. Wouldn't it make more sense ,then, that Dragonbone Wastes would be set also in Amaranthine, even thought I would like it better on the Uncharted Territories south of the Korcari Wilds.
And thank you for the map of Amaranthine, I hadn't seen it yet and I was imagining how it would be - quite deep and complex, I must say - thought it would be a plain map, of a coastal region, yet it has forests, rivers, ridges... and an excelent organization of towns. Can't wait to call it mine!

Dragonbone Wastes are not in Amaranthine, but in Uncharted territories.
P.S.: In case I misunderstood your post, please just ignore mine

Reminds me of Dragonblight from WoW...don't hurt me people.
Personally I love the enviroments in WoW. Some of them are very noteworthy.
It's just that Blizzard has done to their game what Brittney Spears did to her career.
