So, wait, people from other cultures aren't allowed to co-opt words and phrases from ours? Crap, we better give back all those English loan-words. Everyone should adopt the French model, and have an official list of words and phrases and how to use them, and anyone who doesn't use them correctly should be punished. Heavens forbid that some alien, or foreigner, or whatever try to flatter aspects of our culture by integrating parts of it into their own speech patterns or behavior! How dare they!
Tell me, OP, do you actually read any of the crazy stuff that comes out of your fingers before you hit send?
The reason why we have words borrowed from French is because English and French are related having both descended from Latin.
Why in the Hell would the Quarian language share anything in common with English?
uhm....no, English is an anglosaxon language and French is a Neolatin language....only french is Latin derived in this case, English is not. Common words are the result of cultural influence and of course the reminders of the Roman domination.......still English did not descend from latin

It didn't descend directly but it did have some influence from Latin like most European languages. Britain was part of the Roman Empire afterall.
Almost every Indo-European language has had some influence from Latin even if it did not directtly descend from it like French, Spanish, Portuguese and other Romance languages did.

Actually most of the french words in the english language come back from William the Conqueror when he imposed French in the English administration. That's why you got words like recommendation, mask, celebrity, etc.

Not all quarins have european accents. I noted at least three guys that sounded like slightly wimpy american male teenager and one chick - at least. Different ships give different accents is not a bad plot device, its life. Have a new yorker, a southern, and a mid-western together to test this out.
Also, we don't run into many hard-core army buffs like Kal was. Tali is a techie, most are sciencist are low ranked fighters. Normal kid = wimpy teenager male. Kal = a har-core fighter, most likely low-class, from a different ship.
Its not that big of a push, it seemed logical to me. I liked him and kind of wish we got more of him.
Also, yea, the US jargon....not a big deal compared to other breaks in logcial we see in ME. *finger quotes*
