So two people in the same elite rank of the military, and one will always beat the other because of gender?
Ugh, it's no use talking with some people.

I can tell you I couldn't handle it but I did it anyways, 20 years ago. I know most of the women that I worked with were stronger and more able to do things then I could because in order to maintain they had to be.
It is true that men can gain strength easier then women and that men can gain more strength then women but this is an extreme. With equal training and equal skills I have yet to see a women that can't hold her own. If all things are equal (they can press the same approx size, they have the same training, etc.) they can do the same things.
I can tell you I would never tell a woman in the military, the police or any other trained profession that she couldn't punch like a man. That would just cause my nose to bleed or some other painful experience that I woudn't want.

Thank you! And on-topic as well! The thread was "FemShep looks silly doing the things MaleShep does" which by all accounts is false. Someone can "feel" like it's silly, but the truth is FemShep does just like you said, "hold her own". I feel better about starting a FemShep playthrough soon

Again the only outright silly thing is the Krogan headbutt.. which makes my head hurt just thinking about it.
But it's silly for both genders. Other than that, ME is the story of one tough BAMF who happens to be male or female.
Just remember, the Shep is the Shep, and the Shep > all else.

Skill and training improve effectiveness in fighting. It has nothing to do with gender difference, it simply allow someone to use better its physical abilities in a fight. The Angry One wrote...
Not really. I'm operating from a standpoint that skill and training can mitigate gender differences, especially as far as the game goes.
It improves just as much the effectiveness of a man than a woman.
It's specifically said in the Codex that the "metal plating" of the Turian is strictly about protecting them from radiation and that it doesn't confer them any kinetic protection. Also, the Turian thing is the same as the Krogan. Turians appear to have a hard carapace or something like that. A human, male or female, punching them is equally "silly" and if you notice in ME1, Saren is hardly dazed at all, he's more affected by the crap going around him than the punches themselves.
As I said, you vastly underestimate the relevance of strength, size and mass.Nope. Far, far from it.
Maybe if they stood still and were only allowed to hit one another
repeatedly, you'd have a point. But in an actual fight they'd be rather
evently matched.
Everyone "can" win a fight. If you have a knife, you only require to surprise your opponent for half a second to win. If you get a lucky punch, you can knock someone out even if he's stronger. Everything can happen in a fight. Doesn't mean nothing matter.Trust me, I know how unrealistic
action movie jumps are. But strength still becomes relevant only if you
manage to make the first contact in the fight. Yes, weaker party needs
to be more careful, but they can quite well win the fight if they make
their hit count.
Strength is still a HUGE asset, that is very often under-evalued in theorical discussion - and usually more correctly evalued when people meet face-to-face, our instincts remind us of what millions years of evolution taught them.
And male soldiers aren't average men either.Yes, but
who talks about averages? Average woman doesn't get combat training.
Female soldiers are anything but average.
If you're going to talk about non-average women, then use non-average men to compare. That was exactly my point

Of course it does, but the fact remains a woman can achieve similar levels of combat effectiveness given enough training, even if it's harder.

It would still hurt like hell to punch one, I imagine.
Irrelevant though given that he's punched with a metal gauntlet.
