I like playing as a female Shepard because it makes me feel more like an underdog. I just wish it translated to the gameplay a bit better. It would make playing on insanity more challenging.

I don't see the logic in that.  Not everyone makes it to N7 rank.  Like it was stated earlier, the testing standards for N7 rank are ridiculously high.

Guess what? N7 *is* the honour roll.

Why do you hope I put that to the test?  You support violence against women?  I would never even considering hurting a woman.

And this too is sexist.
I deplore violence against anyone.

Again you ignore biological and sociological differences between men and women. It's sexist not to want to hit a woman? Men hitting eachother can resolve conflict, as long as it remains non-lethal. It's part of a male culture that has existed since the beggining of man. It is part of dealing with testosterone. Men have a huge bucket of extra aggressiveness to deal with that women couldn't comprehend even on their period. Women on average are also weaker than men, and instead of testing each woman's muscle mass, we just establish a rule not to hit women, no matter what the situation, even if they hit us (unless they're trying to kill you, of course).

You assume FemShep is the underdog compared to ManShep.
Sorry but that's your issue, not BioWare's.

Passing it still doesn't mean they're all equal.  Even the best compete with each other.

Indeed. The N7 are the best of the best. You don't get to that rank just by completing the basic training. It's the veritable training from depths of hell that only few and chosen can accomplish, regardless of gender.

It is more "natural" for men to hit each other over a dispute, sure.
It is also more "natural" to kill your rivals. You take their resources, end their competition and assure the spread of your genes, culture and ideas.

However since we're in a civilised, advanced society these aspects are mitigated.
It is not right for a man to hit a woman, it's also not right for a woman to hit a man or any other variant, violence for the sake of violence is deplorable whatever the victim.
And if you don't think women can be aggressive and solve problems through fighting I've got news for you..

And you're suggesting that all the male N7 operatives can beat all the female N7 operatives in a fight? Like how often? 9 times out of 10? Seriously, is this a playground?

How about this little idea:

It's Biowares game and
Universe, they wanted Femshep to be as strong and powerful as Maleshep
despite the size difference. So they made it that way, their game,
their rules. End of Story!

Don't you dare to raise a hand on Tali, or you'll be used as a testing subject to determine which of the Shep's incarnation hits the hardest :P

Male Shepard is a cyborg too, what is your point?

The point is they may share the same amount of strength.

So you're saying that some cybernetic implants somehow nullify the strength differences between genders?  That doesn't make any sense.

I'm not saying there's nullification. As far as we know, the implants made Shepard stronger than he/she was -- male or female. Being that he/she is half machine, I don't think they would have given much thought to lessening the commander's ability to punch someone simply because she was female. Why are you making this such a big matter of the genders? Being male or female should not have to dictate one's strength.

I need to bring my grandmother so she can teach you a lesson. I'll ask her to bring her friends while I'm at it... her left and right fists.

Men make better soldiers.  It is what we evolved for.  Stronger, calmer, ferocious, action-oriented.

And ask women how they would like to go alone into combat against men, without male support.

Fact where? You're TAUGHT in basic highschool health class that women need to work twice as hard to develope the same amount of muscle. In the modern miltiary, most women are given LESS rigourous training than men. In Basic training, women require LESS pullups, situps, and pushups in order to pass. It is quite literally backwards but was established in order to appease the political correctness crowd.

...Assuming of course, that Basic training-of-the-future operates in the same way as ours. Perhaps some keen military mind noticed the same thing you did and made female upper-body training twice as hard as their male counterparts to compensate for muscular differences. Who knows.... Image IPB

My God, why is it so hard to understand that delivering a devastating blow has nothing to do with strength?

It's so hard to understand because it isn't true.
God I feel dirty.
I hate trolls.
I think Fem Shep should be just as strong and as effective as Male Shep.
Cybernetics + Gene Therapy = No more Sexual Dimorphism.

But I am also a huge boxing fan.  Seeing people spout nonsense like this just hurts my brain.
Roy Jones Junior was one of the greatest boxers of all time.  He moved up ~20 lbs in weight class and got his ass handed to him because he wasn't strong enough.
Strength matters for punching... a lot.

Boxing is a sport where you also wear gloves. The object in boxing is to use your strength and force of your punch to knock someone out. The military is a place where people are trained to kill. Punches are placed strategically to ultimately kill your opponent if necessary (in other words, you are put in a life and death situation). You can't do the damage you could do with gloves on and thoughts of your opponent's safety.

If you pass to the highest grade you are equal by definition. Sure there will be competition and some variance, but it won't be that great. Certainly not this "ooh Commander Shepard is a dainty flower I might break a nail if I hit mean old Zaeed" thing you have going on.

Sheva Alomar from RE5 is the first to come to mind...every cut scene Chris spends the majority of the time getting his ass kicked, then Sheva comes in pwns.

That being said, it's not sexist to say that historically, the female neanderthals were inside the cave keeping the child warm while the males had more hair and muscle because they were out in the cold hunting. That's not to say a woman like FemShep can't train and become strong enough to punch Saren to the ground.

Soo this post is moo.

There is nothing to suggest that Shepard is half machine.  He looks mostly organic with just a few cybernetic implants here and there.
The reason I'm making an issue out of this is because like it or not gender does factor into strength.  It's just the way humans evolved.  Women have to work harder to be stronger than men, but the only difference between male and female Shepard is gender, so that should mean male Shepard is stronger than female Shepard.

Women can be aggressive, but that is a refined aggressiveness. Women, by the hand of god or nature itself, do not have the raw, bucket-loads of adrenaline that men do. Testosterone is some powerful ****. And it's like i said, men have incorporated their aggressiveness into our modern culture, i've seen two guys duke it out and get along the next day. Sometimes you HAVE to let out your anger. Did you know men holding in pent up anger can form pathelogical/mental disorders? And yelling is half as effective for men.

I mean how hard is it to concede that "Yes, Men and women are different?". How much evidence do we need? How many scientists and professors need to be fired and scolded, every time they have proof for differences between the two genders, in the name of political correctness?

Is the male in question you? In which case my answer is a resounding "hell yes!"  Image IPB But honestly... I don't see why a group of all-female soldiers would be more afraid of going up a group of all men than another group of all women. They'll all kill you just as dead.
