Wynne?

My only concern is having enough gear to go around.  3x 2h sweep ftw!

Add Wynn or Morigan. Whichever one you choose make them take Haste, Miasma and cleansing Aura. Give all three 2handers, Champions Rally and stack all those AoE buffs for giggles.

I would say to add Morrigan with some spirit healing. My group consists of me (arcane warrior), Allistair (tank), Leliana (archer), and Morrigan (spirit healer). I seriously have no problem defeating any of the bosses because group heal is an awesome spell. I am playing on hard difficulty and have killed all the bosses. Although, you have a lot of damage based warriors maybe you should go with Wynne.

would activating indomitable and then having a mage cast earthquake be a viable option, or would it simply not work against stronger enemies that don't fall down as easily?

i would say leliana, song of courage + scattershot >.>, with three 2 handers i don't think anything can be a real threat, considering the damages you will do... (just spec one or 2 of them templar to counter some magic, preferably your char, since he will get it the first).

if you have an herbalist and your party get poison making and/or traps, you can pretty much play without a mage, even on hard and nightmare.

The real problem will be getting oghren early (the proving or aeducan thaig and the carta on lv 6-7 can be a bit harsh).

I would take Wynne over Morrigan in the example you stated (If you don't use a respec mod that is) due to the fact that she's already heavily talented in the creation tree, whose buffs (with three 2H warriors) you are going to need. Have one toon spec into at least the 2nd tier of Herbalism, (use swift salves too) two-three warriors at least one tier in poison and have one in traps if you like using those.

Just the thought of three 2H warriors running at me is a scary vision.

That depends on what you are looking for. You need high spellpower. Earthquake does a physical resistance
check (if you have high spellpower, Earthquake works well). However, Earthquake only triggers when enemies move (against monsters standing still, it doesn't do anything).

3 2handed sweeps and 3 War Cries should make the enemies run around much more than they want to just do re-engage your party...

Wade's Dragonbone, Armour of Legion and Juggernaut are all respectable enough armours, and without DLC there's Faith's Edge, the Chasind Great Maul and Yusaris as good weapons, although you're not spoiled for choice the way onehanders are.

I mostly used Morrigan, Sten and Oghren on my twohander PC playthrough, with no healing spells aside from Drain Life. It wasn't as expensive in potions as I'd have expected since between the three brutes, there was a fair amount of crowd control. They stomp dragons and anything else that relies on stun/KD effects.
