Uploading character information on PS3 version

How do you upload character information and track progress through the social site with the PS3 version of the game? I believe I may need to make a new account thorugh the site but i'm not sure. I believe the ps3 version signs you into the game under your psn account.......so would I need to make my account on here the same as that or?
