I'm so clever. Anywho, on to my point...
I started the game as a Soldier on a Normal difficulty. It felt comfortable and I felt confident enough to start my second play through as a Vanguard on Normal and loved it. I'm about 65% through this play through and I'm beginning to ponder my next game. My question is: Should I jump up to Hardcore/Insanity right from the get go or should I play on Veteran for a little while and work my way up to that harder difficulty? Is the difference in difficulty level that profound that I would be overwhelmed?
I guess that would also depend on WHAT I was playing on said difficulty. While I am very interested in trying out the Infiltrator....I'm not sure if the transition from Vanguard on Normal would go so well. So maybe I should try the harder difficulties on a class I am familiar with for a while before moving on to one that I am not? Or is Vanguard just naturally hard on Hardcore/Insanity?
Please post your advice!

I went from Normal to Insanity. I would skip veteran, maybe go to Hardcore. Once you have the game mechanics down, you can complete Insanity with enough patience regardless of which difficulty you played before.
As far as classes go, all of them are good on Insanity and it just depends on you and how you play the game.
If you're having qualms about which class to choose, be safe and go soldier. But Engineer is fun on Insanity

yeah, id go to hardcore first, just to get you used to dealing with defences, then crank it up once you're comfortable. the skill to master is using and choosing your squaddies well.

Ok, thanks! I guess I just wasn't too clear on the differences in Veteran and Hardcore. Obviously they aren't large enough to inhibit gameplay too much
I do plan on trying out Engineer soon however I'm satiating my obsession with combat classes at the moment.
And yes, mastering which squad mates to take will probably be difficult at first as I mainly just take who I feel needs some time to shine when playing on Normal.

I've only played Insanity but... I suggest you jump right to it! Reason being: I have so much fun on it. No shields on normal right? Vanguard on Insanity can be tough but I actually like having the defenses. There are times when I want to charge and NOT have the guy fly off into the distance. I probably wouldn't suggest Vanguard. I just started Infiltrator and I think it's great. If I had to suggest though, I would go for Sentinel or Adept for less dying.

Insanity. Give yourself a challenge.

I started my first playthrough on veteran, then i moved onto insanity after completing my first game. I usually keep it on insanity.

On my second playthrough I've jumped up to Insanity and never looked back. I find the gameplay challenging at times, but it's worth it. Vanguard just works for me, I love the class.

The forums over-hype Insanity. I took it gradual, did normal, then hardcore, and did my first insanity run as Vanguard. I suggest just going straight to Insanity, it isn't as hard as everyone makes it once you are used to it.
