Is it confirmed to have an effect? because that could explain why alot of people have a harder time penetrating protection than health, despite current theorycrafting pointing in the opposite direction.

For me it seems that there are half to none bonus for headshots on armor, shields and barriers. Double on health I guess.
Anyone who can confirm?

There is definitely a headshot bonus on armor, shields, and barriers. For example Scions have only armor and no health and I regularly score headshots on them.

i can see it working on scions and harbinger, for example, because they have no health bar. but what about the average schmuck who has shields and health?

For anyone who has spent any significant amount of time sniping, it is fairly obvious that you do get headshot multiplier on defenses, not just health.

i'm not so sure tbh. dmg works like this in general, and more specifically if it doesnt do headshot modifiers on protection like i think(the only difference being that protection would have a headshot "set" of dmg as well).
X - base dmg
P - protection bonus dmg
A - ammo bonus vs protection
B - ammo bonus vs health
H - headshot modifier
X+(X*P)+(X*A) vs protection, notice they are seperate. firstly the bonus dmg specific to the protection is used, that being the ammo bonus(if any) and the weapon bonus (eg smg 1.5*shields). the "set" of base dmg isnt touched until the other two "sets" have been depleted.
(X-[amount of X used against protection])=Y
Y+(Y*H)+(Y*
vs health, again the seperate values, although its not as important now.
this is just how i think that headshot dmg works, i could be (probably am) wildly wrong, but headshot dmg *shouldnt* be double vs shields/barrier, why would it care which part of it you hit? (its a barrier between it and the head, with space inbetween) armour i can see it having an effect, because armour is physical and would have impact.

Barriers are affected by headshots. I can take down a Collector Drone with a single headshot, but if I miss and hit their shoulder for example, it doesn't even completely drop their barrier (although there is just a sliver left).

ahh ok, that kills my theory then. still, i maintain that it doesnt make sense!

Armor should work, though scion's heads are specifically their weak spot so that could technically explain that. I've had no trouble one-shotting with snipers through shields though.
