I play as a femshep so there will be a total of 4 female humans on my squad once Kasumi enters the picture, which has me a little annoyed.

There are only 2 male humans, and neither of them are interesting at all.  Jacob just doesn't do it for me and Zaeed is an old dude with a jacked up face...so I have come to the conclusion for why there is no hunky human man on my squad to fill the male equivalent gap of Miranda...

it's because maleshep is that hunky guy, which sucks considering he doesn't exist in my Mass Effect Universe.  I'd totally be all over maleshep if he was a character in my crew.  He's hot.  But its like they didn't want another hunky human male taking the limelight away from Male Shepard so instead we get a ton of sexy human females and no hot human males...you know, so the maleshep won't feel awkward when he has to pull Miranda off of the hot vanguard in the port observation...

don't get me wrong, I love thane and he's super smexy, and this isn't really a romance thread at all, I just feel as a woman, that I'm getting the short end of the stick in terms of eye candy on the Normandy.  The only other human male is Joker, who is adorable, but he can barely walk...that's not sexy. lol. Not to mention all the female aliens look hot while some the male characters are total, well, aliens...

anyways, my two cents :wizard:

If we're counting Kaidan than we can count Ashley, so that makes the totals 5 female humans to 3 male humans, still not even...

and Asari look like females, not a fair assumption. Take away their breasts and add a beard, then i'll consider it...

I agree that male Shep is pretty hunky. I mostly play Femsheps, but I have generic male Shep on my desktop anyway. I get why Dr. Chakwas likes soldiers with piercing blue eyes.

BioWare is dudes who make games for dudes. If it's not "fair" then it's because of:

1. Story/character limitations

2. Budget

which is pretty weak. They aren't making games for women. They are making games for men and if women happen to play them then cool.

That's basically the majority of video game developers, not just Bioware.

I am a male and play a male Shepard. Even I agree, bring back Kaidan.

I disagree with needing more human males, but I do agree with less human females. Less humans in general really.

Or, they could just be making games for people. RPG games are among the most popular for females. Thane was engineered specifically for female players.

As a female player, I say "No thanks" to Thane.

Don't care for Thane, though I disagree that the game was made "just" for guys. I think that attitude is slowly changing.

All games tend to target a certain kind of gamer, whether they want to admit to it or not. And this plan works well for them (see: The Sims). Give the content of the game, the marketing, the romances, certain things left out, it would safe to say that while both genders were considered when designing Mass Effect 2, it is slanted towards male gamers.

Not saying Thane is the ultimate choice for females, because that is already false given the sizable Garrus and Kaidan threads, but Thane was an example of the developers having romances with female players in mind. As in, I disagree with Mass Effect being a "guy" game.

I'd be fine with this too.  It wouldn't bother me if there were less female humans because honestly the humans are the least interesting characters...but because there are SO many it is starting to feel one sided, especially with kasumi and especially considering I am a femshep...

Maybe they should make an international law that requres them to make every game for Women,  Transvestites, Asians, Blacks, and anything else that I am missing.  Would that make you feel better.

Uh, I guess, but it's not like we have to assume that when designing the gameplay, Bioware had to think "hmm, what would GUYS like?" I doubt they did something like that. More like, "what would PLAYERS like?" I would agree that it is male slanted, but not that it is a "guy" game, unless you think that shooting stuff isn't feminine, which is a whole nother discussion.

Aliens still outnumber humans.

Calm Down, I'm not demanding anything like this, but when you make a game that clearly gives you a choice to play as a gender, then you should tailor to BOTH genders.  If they made the game and you could only play as a male, I wouldn't be asking for an even split, but because they give you the option to play as a female, then they should fully flesh out that experience equally to playing as a male...

if you could play as a transvestite, then yes, they should make the game suitable for that player aswell...:)

I said that it was male slanted, not that it was a "guy game."

With Kasumi, it's five humans, six aliens, one robot. Aliens outnumber human by one, and even then if you break up by species you get five humans and one of everything else.
