I have it on 360 and i'm having my dad send me a copy of WIndows 7.
I have a MacBook so i do have to partition off part of my hard drive to upload Bootcamp.
But i'm willing to do this if the consensus is it's better than 360.

If you played ME1 on Xbox, and not on the PC, I wouldn't get the PC version.
However, it all comes down to playstyles, if your a better gamer with a keyboard and mouse, go for the PC version.
If you are better with a controller (like myself), stick with the console version.

well i have access to the wonders of masseffectsaves.com so i can upload the perfect shepard.

I've never really played a FPS on a computer and i feel like thats the defining factor in better or not.

I played a Hunter in WOW so obviously im awesome at pointing and clicking.

I have beaten it for the 360 a few times already, but I am going to get it for the PC as well.  Just waiting for my PC Collector's Edition to arrive in the mail.  :D

I can already see on advantage of the PC version: being able to use mods/editors to improve the game.  Such as being able to skip the intro movies (what a pain for the sixth time you want to try a new character), or downloading a level 60 save file and just changing the name (instead of having to play through ME1 a bunch of times to get one level 60 import).  Also, it appears that the scanning is better on the PC, because a mouse would probably lend itself better to the scanning than the analog sticks.

One thing I am worried about though is the controls for the PC version.  I know aiming will be better (because again, mouse > analog stick in that regard), but IMHO, using the keyboard to move and perform actions seems like it would be incredibly awkward.  I'm very good with the 360 controller, but the aiming just isn't very accurate with an analog stick.

Oh well...if I don't like the PC version better, at least I have the CE goodies.  B)

Edit: BTW, the main reason I got the PC version as well is because the 360 version is freezing up on me all the time.  At first it only froze on Garrus' loyalty mission, but now it freezes all the time.  I can't tell if it's my 360 or the game, but it's only Mass Effect that locks up the system.

If you are going to be running it through bootcamp on a mac book it will in all likelyhood perform and look better on the 360. I bought the PC version, but that's cause I have a dedicated gaming rig at home. It looks and runs great and allows me to use things like downloaded saves, edit the movie folder so I only have to wait 4 minutes to get to the character creation screen instead of waiting 20 for all the movies to play out, etc, etc, etc.

i got it first on the xbox and then got it for pc and havent looked back. the modding and controls of the pc make it a better game. the biggest difference, apart from the actual mechanics, is the control of squaddies, the ability to map more than one ability and that use their ability and move them aren't all on the same button is a massive improvement.

Yeah i'm sure on the PC PC it will be better but i never really considered how it would look and run through bootcamp.

Anyone else have experience with it in Bootcamp?

Besides the things already mentioned, I just prefer the UI and flexability you get with keybindings. Especially if you play a class with more than a few abilities.

For me it was also cheaper to get on PC. Not going to buy a Xbox and a HDTV just for 1 game :)

I'd hold off on the Macbook. You'll need better hardware if you want it quality better than the console. You won't be able to run it at the high detail level with your Macbook, I have a Macbook Pro and the game has presets depend on the vid cards so it turns off the high detailed polygons and lowers other stuff. You can overwrite things in the .ini but you'll end up with 5-10 fps to get the nice detail. It's best to stay on the console over a macbook.

I got the PC version in hopes of recording intense videos and playing without pausing so much. The game is more fluid on the PC, for sure, if you can get past the controls. Most people have no problem with the setup but I, personally, can't seem to adjust to the non-controller playstyle of Mass Effect.

I got both, but I'm not playing the Pc-version at the moment. Sure, the pc-version looks a bit sharper, and got some mediocre "mods", but in the end, I prefer my new 52 inch hdtv+home theatre for gaming;)

You can connect a PC to a 52 inch HDTV and home theater.

You can, but I've found that a lot of TVs as of recent don't have VGA or DVI inputs.  I've been TV shopping recently, and that's been a big disappointment for me.  Not to mention, even if your TV does have a VGA or DVI input, it's far from convenient to use it for the PC and quite cumbersome when compared to a console that is permanently there and only requires a device the size of your hand to operate.  Plus, you can use it as a nice comfy streaming box :D

In terms of 360 vs PC version, it doesn't matter, they're the same IMO.  The PC has some mediocre mods and you can skip movies by using mods and some editing, and some extra keybindings, but I think it actually plays better on 360.  PC is great for FPSes, but both are equal when it comes to third person shooters/action-rpgs.  PC has the scanning advantage, though.  About the 360 version freezing, having bugs or what not... have you guys updated your 360 at all?  Maybe you just have a faulty game, been through the game eight times already and have never had a freeze, glitch or whatnot.  Bad luck, I suppose.

Go with what you feel more comfortable with, IMO.

Don't need VGA or DVI inputs. Nearly all graphics cards for the last 4 years have had HDMI output. Certainly, even my crappy setup has HDMI output.

Graphics are slightly smoother and crisper on the PC version. Nothing super-stupendous, but it is noticeable. Aside from scanning, PCs have shooting accuracy better on the mouse - auto-aim is automatically enabled (and cannot be disabled) on the 360 version. It causes some issues with sniping. No auto-aim on the PC as it's not necessary.

Also, easier to input online face databases on PC. Easier to record and upload videos and photos as well. It's a preference thing, but there are factual differences of note.

PC has hotkeys.

Sweet, sweet hotkeys. I am so tired of the power wheel on the 360 version. :( I crave blissful hotkey release.

Not all HDTV's support Full 1080p signal through VGA (not my problem, since I dumped VGA a long ago), and all of my HDMI ports are already in use. +I already have one pc hooked to my HDTV. Also, my "gaming-pc" monitor has much better display resolution, so I prefer to play the all new PC games on that one.

edit: Gotta agree with the auto-aim on xbox 360... Hate it, hate it hate it....

Don't need a gaming PC for Mass Effect 2. It'll run just fine on an old clunker like my current PC. Gaming resolutions can be better on smaller displays meant for close up viewing, but you DID mention that you preferred gaming on the 52-inch display. That is not a barrier for PC gaming - you can hook a PC to a 52 incher, no problems.

In fact, I'm typing this on a 32 inch display right now. If I kept this thing any nearer than 3 feet away from me, I'd have to swing my head around to see the entire screen.

all mac laptops are pretty much bull**** for gaming. don't even try. just buy PC. it's 1000 times better. even high end macbook pro doesn't have 1GB graphic card. it's only 512MB with old NVIDIA 9600 GT? it's not even 9800. forget about mac. mac is not for gaming.

Thread is dead, dont MacBash.

Mac's aren't gaming machines, but for anything other than Gaming a mac outweighs PC in 100000's times over.

Plus you can look at pr0n and not crash, EVER.
Macs are fast and secure and can run any program or a better verion of the pc, save games. but im a console gamer firstly.

I'm using bootcamp on MacBook too. Run all my games on it and it works pretty well. Go for PC.

On my MacBook I'm currently running:

NWN 2: medium-high settings

Mirror's Edge: max settings

Resident Evil 5: max

ME 1: max

ME 2: max

Dragon Age: medium (really laggy game. especially in the forest areas)

Fallout 3 medium-high

Divinity II high

I'm a student living alone in a foreign country so I can't exactly lug around huge, high-end computer equipment. For my gaming needs the MacBook works just fine.

Auto-aim is the bane of my existence. If I had a nickel for each time it got me killed and/or screwed over one of my strategies, I would be able to buy a high end PC so that it never happens to me ever again.

Still, I like playing Mass Effect 2 on my 360. I haven't tried the PC version since my laptop can't handle a game like that, but I don't feel like I'm missing out on something by playing the 360 version exclusively. It's essentially the exact same game.

I should have it because I take a business trip a lot. so I always carry my laptop. gaming is one of the best solution while I don't work, feel bored. I think that PC version is much better in my experience. you'd better buy it.
