Hey, I'm trying to find the best Arcane Warrior gear for each slot. I'm going to go Arcane Warrior/ Bloodmage. I currently only have the Warden commander's set and don't know if anything is better than that, or what shield, helm, belt, rings, or necks to use. Any help would be great, thanks. Also what would be a decent easy to get placeholder before spellweaver? I'm using the Saw Sword atm.
Arcane Warrior Gear?

If you got the Superman Random encounter and took the metal from crater you can go to Levi's brother at Soldiers peak and have a long sword or 2h that is mighty spiffy, made from it.
Edit: the sword is called Starfang

If you have RtO, get Maric's Sword and Cailan's shield for the setbonus (+5 mana reg, +5 damage). Duncan's Sword from RtO is pretty good, too.
But "best" equipment is hard to tell if we don't know what you want to do with your AW. Are you tanking or just a melee/spell hybrid?

gah, I just realized I posted this in the wrong forums
.
I plan on tanking, but I have alistair too, so I don't have to take all of the hits and want to do some decent damage too.

Maric's Sword and Cailan's shield is probably the best weapon shield combo in the game for an aw,
the +5.75 mana reg are hard to beat, best 2h weapon would be the Chasind Great Maul i think.
Armor is up to you, Warden Commanders is great, Wades superior armors are nice as well.
If you want to be ready for awakening, meaning no dlc items, i'd go for Wades Dragonscale armor + Spellweaver/The Veshialle + Fade Wall, the 2h weapon of choice would be the Chasind Great Maul again.

Best AW armor that will carry over to Awakening is Evon the Great's Mail plus the Wade's Heavy boots/gloves (the three pieces work together as a set), with Cailan's Armor (from RtO) as a close second. Both have good negative fatigue bonuses, but the stamina regen (= mana regen) on Evon's + the two Wade's components are really helpful for an AW that casts "real" spells. If you're a pure hack-and-slash AW and have RtO, then Cailan's will be better armor.

EDIT/NOTE: It has been confirmed that most of the DLC arms and armor won't transfer over, but RtO gear will. See other recent threads in the Awakening area for "proof".

I concur with the posts above and still, I am just carrying around the Warden Commander Armor because I think the Ancient Elven armor is so fine looking. Is there a mod out there where I can change the armor attributes either to make one set look like the Elven set or change the Elven set to reflect better stats? I had to pass on the Evon's Mail because I just couldn't pay the freight and still get the tomes Andruil's blessing and the rings and amulet I need. I may still miss out on the Lifegiver. Grumble. I have enuf money probelms in real life, I don't need this pressure.

Thanks for your help, but how about necklace, belt, and rings? And Is Maric's Sword and Cailan's shield better than starfang and the fade wall? And what is the best nonset helm? Since only the cailan set has a helm.

The only really useful belt is Andruil's Blessing. As for Rings, if you tank, Lifegiver is a no brainer. That would mean either Key to the City or the Bloodring as second (I'd personally take the key but I'm not a big fan of blood magic). Necklace ... dunno. Spellward is always good, I guess.
Best nonset helm is the Helm of Honneleath. I'm not too impressed with non-DLC helmets (besides Corruption maybe).
As for weapon and shield, that's open to discussion. If you want to tank and realy on bloodmagic to cast most of your spells, the mana-reg of Cailan's Arms won't really help you. If you actually use your mana for spellcasting, there are few things that can match the regneration of Cailan's. Since Shimmering Shield has a huge mandrain and Combat Magic has +50% fatigue, I'd even say Cailan's are the only reliable way to use mana for spellcasting as an AW - or at least an easy way to keep shimmering shield running at all times.

For armor, evon's mail + wades superior scale glove and boots. +2 mana regen, 3.6% fatigue. 32 armor.

For an AW/Bloodmage, Cailan's Armor set might be better for its health regeneration. With an AWs extremely high armor and resistances, most attacks will barely hurt him at all and if you suffer only 1-4 damage per enemy attack, a +8 health regen (from the set + lifegiver) will keep you alive even when surrounded by 10 enemies without much need for healing. And when you don't tank, the health reg will fuel your blood magic, of course.

Interesting points on BMs and health regen. I tend to only turn on Blood Magic in specific circumstances so I haven't explored all the nuances. Does the +health regen on Cailan's armor not get cut to 10% of normal effect by the BM limitations?

Really up for debate. If you want to actually have fun and play as a spell caster first, melee DPSer second, the three best armor choices are:
1. Wades Superior Dragonskin/Dragonscale with Executioners helm or Helm of the Honoleath
2. Reapers Vestments with Bard's Dancing Shoes, Libertarians Cowl and Wades elemental DPS gloves of your choice (+20% fire, ice, or lightning damage)
3. Cailan's Armor set
If you want to tank, probably
1. Wades Superior Dragonscale
2. Cailan's Armor
3. Warden Commander
As for Weapons...
If you like 2H- Nug Crusher from RtO
If you like DW- Duncan's Sword and Duncan's dagger
If you like sword/board- Maric's Sword/Cailan's Shield
As for jewelry, most of the best stuff costs 80+g... and most of us are hard pressed to make enough to afford just one or two things that expensive. So basically, as a tank, look for anything with spellpower/magic/dexterity/resistance bonuses and you'll be good.

Evon the Great's Mail + Wade's Superior Dragonscale Gloves & Boots FTW:
+6 Armor
+20% Fire Resistance
+10% Chance to Dodge Attacks
+1 Combat Health Regeneration
+2 Combat Stamina Regeneration
+10 Defense against Missiles
+5 Defense
-20% Fatigue
As weapon use Maric's Blade + Cailans Shield (+5,75 stamina regen) or Duncan's Sword + Fade Wall (+3 stamina regen, +25 stamina, +3 willpower = +15 stamina)

So spellwever and fade wall would be better if you're a blood mage?

Well, if you don't use your mana to cast spells, the manareg from Cailan's Arms is useless - UNLESS you use it to compensate manadraining abilities like Haste and Shimmering Shield. The +stamina from Fade Wall on the other hand might help you to keep more sustained abilities running at the same time (combat magic, arcane shield, rock armor, shimmering shield, miasma...).
If you rely mostly on your Bloodmagic to cast spells, I'd probably go for Duncan's Sword + Fade Wall, as Schwinni suggested. This combination has a nice stamina bonus and still pretty good manareg.
If you don't have RtO, Spellweaver + Fade Wall is the best combination, of course.

Blood Gorged Amulet if u unlock shale's thaig. The one u get after 4 proving battles isn't as good as this amulet esp. if ur goin blood mage. Lifegiver of course but 87 sovsish? Key to the City of course +2 all atts. 107 sov belt at the circle LOL i got expensive tastes. and helm of honnoleath +2 all atts these are my instruments that comprise my weapon of mass destruction i call Death that makes clanking noises
