I wont be buying from bioware again if they want to sell content they should have included with the main game. People are going to end up paying 100+ dollars for this game that is good. But not great, and certainly not worth it.

Grats on shooting yourself in the foot bioware.

lol...your profile shows just one level 9 character.

and my profile says this warrior is lvl 13 while she's actually lvl 19, your point?

lol, you serious? rofl.

It is a buisness, they do not owe you anything. The other options were to get the DLC in an expansion a year down the line if we are lucky or not get it at all. Bioware is is supposed to make money with their products. They released an epic game with a huge amount of hours involved and you all are ****ing about not getting every last bit of extra content for free. Get over yourselves. Quit playing the game if your sensiblities are so offended by the way DLC was implemented.

Just a quick question about authors original post. I bough the Wardens keep DLC before picking up the game. Saw the guy in my camp with the exclamation point, completed quest and so and so. Does the NPC really show up even though you didn't download the DLC advertising it? Talk about an irritating immersion killer.

I'm 100% behind BioWare making more DLC for DA:O. That said, the NPC in your camp was a stupid idea, if for no other reason than it makes the criticisms in this thread 1000x more likely when in general people have come to accept DLC in nearly every game released in the last two years.

i agree the way the game companies are doing [stuff] yes i said it because that's what this practice they are leaning to .and most of this is the backlash from all you wow players out there you know who you are .once all you fools just kept on giving money month after month well this is what the outcome of that has brought us its not just you wow players but BLIZZARD mostly for doing it the first place. and all this pay to play bulls h i t has got to stop .come on people its not like the game companies didn't make enough money from us before pay to play .well now look what all you wow players helped the industry become. and it stinks i liked blizzard have been
waiting for so long with excitement for diablo 3 to come out .but i fear that it will be a game Ive waited so long never to play. because i fear they will make it pay to play .and i set down in my gaming rules that i WILL NEVER PAY TO PLAY .come on people in the industries eyes all we are to them is a $ sign and im tired of it .its been going on for years from the time of the console wars.for example they were coming out with a different console competing with each other and making us to pay for it did they care about us then NO if they did they could of at least made the controller ports and connectors the same but no with every console meant we had to buy new controllers i have so many controllers now i think they are becoming self aware.so i been seeing this for a long time. and thats why im going to be the one to change it and yes i am going to do
it just watch me .there are going to be even more backlash from the whole wow fiasco then you know. there will be games that come out that might be really cool but if they are pay to play and
they don't get enough subscribers quick enough they will probably just shut down the servers .
because like most business they run by investors .they forecast to the investors the possible profits to be made and if they don't make those projections in the time they say they just shut it down.i see things differently then most and have seen this getting worse year by year well i have had enough. my retaliation plan is almost finished. but its not going to happen fast it all depends on
a few things . and i would like to APOLOGIZE TO ALL FOR THIS SCROLLING but you can see how i feel about this whole ordeal.I i love games im probably one of the oldest gamers then the norm my first game played when it came out was pong first console per say was a commidor 64
with a whopping 8 bits lol. my first hand held was one of those football games that was just LED lights for the players. and sorry angain for the scrolling

EDIT: No swearing, please.

Ok, did some further research on this apparently you can remove this npc by disabling the downloader. There is an almost 90 page discussion on this on the Dragon age forums with developer comments.

"I rage"

Might I suggest you forgot to add the word "impotently" after rage?

Some people have nothing better to do than complain on forums and try and pose themselves as experts on things.

"Yeah, I've read most every mystery novel ever written - those writers need to bow before my authority when it comes to how to write a good mystery."

"I know what you mean - I watch Nascar all the time, yet my dad won't let me drive yet."

You see, they have realized their mistake. We never expected anything for free. We just didn't want anybody to mess up with the game that we chose to purchase.

Yeah, I'm also very sceptical about thiese new marketing methods Bioware and others are trying to establish. A real expansion pack can be reviewed, it cannot exceed the costs of the original game, and it actually continues, improves the game, instead of just extending it with superficial stuff.

I only hope that there's a different team working unabated by these processes of DLC on a real successor, new sagas and improved gameplay mechanics and so on, while the majority of fans can be entertained in the meanwhile by little sidequests for which the can regularly give Bioware a little payment.
So as long as it doesn't become the main course of selling and developing games, then I can live with it (otherwise I simply wouldn't buy their games anymore).

That's strange. I got Stone Prisoner, Soldier's Peak and the Blood Dragon Armor for free with my Deluxe edition. Stone Prisoner and Soldier's Peak came free with all version of the game as far as I know. What version did you buy?

I don't know what "Soldier's Peak" is (and don't tell me anything that spoils it!), but if it's the content added with the "Warden's Keep" DLC, only the Digital Deluxe Edition got it for free.  The rest of us have to pay $7 for it.

For what it's worth, Warden's Keep is not content that was removed from the original game and turned into DLC just to make more money.  It's content that was developed after the freeze on the original game that the developers intended to release some time after launch.  But, launch was pushed back to polish the console ports and they were able to release Warden's Keep on day 1.  I'm glad for it.

This is true it was in production when the release date was set in march and was set to release around the time the game came out when it was pushed back

can anyone tell me how the hell to get out of the circle tower of magi.  I've completed all the quest but can't get through the door that leads to the quartermaster and the tower exit.

It's pretty simple. This DLC was a bonus freebie for a certain version of the game purchased by a certain vendor. Had we not later on had the option to purchase it, the angry masses would be revolting about being denied such extra content. It's not like it's a gamestop bonus that's pretty much worthless after a few levels. Most games have been doing this on consoles for awhile now. It's not the end of the free world. Plus it's not like Bioware hasn't been advertising who got what free and who could pay what amount for which extra content they didn't get. I can't understand the shock and surprise ppl seem to have about content that's been public knowledge for months before this game was out.

I have a better idea.  Stop posting spoilers on all kinds on this forum.  Go to the spoiler forum and ask there.  You'll get a much nicer response.

you know, I have an easier time living with a minor inconvenience in a free game than in a game I already paid 79$ buck upfront (including pre-order fee and taxes). And yes if this policy expand, I'll think twice about buying a Bioware game.

As for disabling the NPC by disabling the download manager, what you are telling me is that I have a choice between having a stupid NPC in my camp or losing the extra content of the Collector edition I got for free?

Kinda pointless to complain about this (OP) because as you can see there are armies of people ready and willing to defend any coporation who wants to sponge every possible penny from their wallets. This place is a company execs wet dream ... not only are there lots of potential customers but half of them will fight for the privilige of being fleeced ;p

I think you can download the extra content of the Collector Edition and then disable the download manager. Otherwise it doesn't make any sense. But it's still not good enough. I think the best thing to do is to remove the advertising NPC through a patch without imposing any restrictions on the player.

WHy do these types of threads always start with name-calling and bickering and go downhill from there?

End of line.
