Great, go get the LOTR trillogy from wallmart for 20.00.

As for not noticing models and such, opening a level 3 locked chest in the first enchanters office and finding a single elfroot dosent break your imersion?

And i'm the idiot......

HAHA, So how long have you guys worked for bioware?

The LOTR series isnt interactive.  Just because you play games for what you call immersion doesn't mean that everyone does. I've enjoyed every Bioware game I've ever played and that's what I like.  There are things they could do better but I don't notice them because I enjoy the kind of product they put out.

I never called you an idiot.

We don't work for Bioware.  We just enjoy their brand of game, most of us far more than the immersive sandbox type game.

Seriously, what is immersion anyway?

Ok, so you dont play for the story, or imersion.  You dont play for the action or the loot.

You just play cause it's a bioware game?

That's really odd.  And you say you dont work for bioware.

funny how you said "we"

Anyway, we're off topic.

Get rid of that god damned dude in my camp. Put out a patch that will actually launch the game after it's installed, and for GODS SAKE next time you decide to make an RPG don't be so freakin cheap with the art department.

That is all.

I'd be more upset about this...expcept Bioware/EA was pretty upfront about the existence of day one paid DLC for months. So if you take issue with the practice, why the hell buy the game in the first place?  Unless you the type that does no research on your purchases.  Then its your fault.

This is nothing new DLC has been around for a while now and this is what game companies do. They are business' after all. The thing is the DLC is OPTIONAL if you don't want to pay for it then don't you can still finish the game. I bought the standard edition from play.com that gave me two items (memory band and feral charm) as well as the two standard bonus codes. They only item I needed to download was the Grey Wardens content.

Paying for DLC isn't going away though. Love it or hate it but it's here to stay. Personally if it produces continuous content for a game I'm for it as long as it isn't too expensive.

Slipfeed, no was cut to sell to you later. The devs went into a number of explanations about it, which can be found on the DA:O boards on the BioWare site, if you're interested. Warden'Keep wa always intended to be for sale, so that's why you have to buy it. The Stone Prisoner was cut content, yes, but that's why it's free with a newly purchased copy of the game.

As for your other complaints, obviously others don't share your assessment of the game, But you're entirely entitled to your opinion on that. But I just wanted to point out that content was not cut in order to charge us for it later, as you indicated in your OP.

Keyword there being Troll, second keyphrase being: find something constructive to discuss. DLC is here, its queer, get used to it. I dont enjoy paying for it, but I certainly do enjoy have the option to buy it when I feel its worth it. Your mock incendiary outrage is just designed to try and get people upset on the forums over essentially nothing. The definition of such behavior is "trolling", and as I said before you should find something better to do. As for the lack of gear art, thats such a pointless and minor thing to rant about.

I do sometimes think people buy games just so they can moan lol

This seems to be a common complaint with all games released with DLC they charge for. All the companies must have the same idea eh?? ;)

Honestly, i think everyone here has some good points. This game really is incredible, but the guy in my camp undoubtedly bothers me.

Its a bit ridiculous to say "dont buy it" as well. Come on now, if someone is encountering this, they probably already bought the game...

The only issue i have with it is advertising for it in game. I went up to the guy, excited to get a new quest, and it says "not enough points." Fair enough, but then when i realized that is the only way to get permanent storage... Well, i view that as a problem. Permanent storage should be an implemented feature outside of DLC.

I actually enjoy DLC, however, release day DLC does bother me. I have the choice, however, to not buy it. But the reality stands, that there is no permanent storage in the game outside of wardens keep, and i do believe that is a bit of a problem.

Will i stop playing the game because of it? hell no!

But the fact i am OCD about loot, and only have very, very limited on-character storage, gets in the way of my gameplay. Permanent storage is a feature that comes for free in every other game i have played.

I do think there is a danger of micro-transactions in the form of paying a small amount for every quest. If you read around, this is something that is already happening and has been talked about for a while. Most of the games implementing it currently are free to play, but then you pay for content. Soon, they (people like bobby kotick) will realize the profit potential and move everything in that direction.

I have no problem with DLC,,,BUT

There should be no mention of DLC within the game, that is just wrong.

Crackdown did that, kept bugging me to buy the new weapons pack after the last free update, really pissed me off.

An NPC in game telling you to buy something is unacceptable.

DLC in general is...okay.

It's a fun quest & have no problem paying $7.00 for it. If it had been released in 2 months, I would've bought it then. Since it was available day one, I bought it day one.
Beyond that, the "rip off" argument is getting really freaking old.
This same broken record post is made 10 times a day. You don't like the fact that there's day one DLC, don't buy it. Done.

As far as having the dlc sold in game, I prefer that myself. The guy doesn't follow you around nagging you, he's just there. It makes it so, when you do want to do the quest & pay to D/L it, you don't have to log out. Just go to him & buy it all while playing the game. I think it's less immersion breaking than leaving the game, but that's just my opinion.

You've go to be kidding me. What a joke!

Slipfeed wrote...

So there's this guy standing in my camp see, with an exclimation point over his head.  He has a quest! Marvelous!

I speak to this man, and attempt to accept his quest.

A box pops up that says, in effect "Please pay us $7.00 in addition to the $52 you just payed to accept this quest.

.................................................................................WUT?.......................................................................................

Nope.  Sorry.  Not falling for it.  This game seems about 50% complete anyway.  I've opened about 500 chests and have found exactly 3 pieces of caster gear... all of which share the exact same art... and none of wich are an upgrade from the crap I got in my origin quest.

You completed this game.... and removed half the content so you could sell it bit by bit over a period of time for loads of money.

That's just not right.  It's not in the spirit of fair play I say!  You're supposed to deliver a complete product, and then actually DO MORE WORK to expand that product to MAKE MORE MONEY.

You had best patch that dude standing in my camp out unless I have the DLC installed.  And try not to make the patch break my game this time.  I had to re-extract the .exe from the disk to make it work after 1.01a  I know it's a different vc2005, but COME ON.  Proffesionalism.  I can't even spell it and I seem to have more knowledge of it than you do all of a sudden.

WTF happend to Bioware?  Buying a game you guys made used to be a sure fire investment.  I feel like I just bought half a game for the price of a whole one.  I probly should have just saved $30 and got sacred 2 for 19.00 from the bargain bin.

STOP TRYING TO RAPE MY WALLET.

It wont work.  I'll continute playing through this game once, and if ferdelen is the only area, if I dont get to follow those arrows on the map to the free marches and such, it will be the absolute last bioware game I ever buy.  period.  Mass effect 2... no.  SW:TOR... nope.  I have purchased every single title you guys have made with all the expansions since baulders gate.  1.

If you sold me half a game and expect me to pay double for the rest over a period of 2 years, it will be the last $50 you ever see from me, and i'll be reviewing the game at every store site on the web.

I feel like I have been **** invaded.  I am butthurt.  I will cry.  And my tears will most likley cost you money.

The guy in the camp LOL . Basicly at the beginning of the story.I though it's was a bit quick trying to sell me their DLC content.I never laughed like that and yes ... It's felt like i was playing an unfinished game.

Has for the equipment.I do agree there's not much skin .. I'm level 8 and i'm just starting to use new equipment ..Even though they look identical .. they 're actually an upgrade.

But It's not world of Warcraft or DIABLO ... If you remember in NWN .. it's took a while to start looking like an EPIC Hero ... CLose to the end actually when ye got your dragon armor..In oblivion you always look like crap .. until you finish the main campaign .

In Horde of the underdark they added a Lot of EPIC stuff .. but it's took them 2 expansion.

I hate DLC content . BUT DA:O it's a very long game without DLC anyway ..So it's not like 2 hours added to a 7 hours video game.

Age of CONAN (MMORPG) took some time to add bad ass armor. But they look very cool.In DA:O they look ... boring for the most part.

and the frigging HELMET ...But it's not just DA:O ... In most game it's like you have a bowl of rice on your head.

hehe same thing when I bought a lifetime for Champions Online MMO...and then found that there wasnt enough content to even get to level 40.....

..but they gave my money back for that one...that was cool I guess.

Ill have to agree with OP.  about the money gouging, it isnt right. But its the new genre of gaming.  Have you seen how many free to play games their are out there?  Im talkin alot of mmos. You actually end up paying mountains of money for equipment to be better then the next joe.  I loved NWN and Kotor and such but Im not happy about the man in the camp.  its like everytime i see him it reminds me / breaking emersion / that i have not and will not purchase extra content in this manner.  Expansions np .. but not PAY to quest. .. Tho i dont know another game that has PAY to Quest out there .. guess that is ingenious.

I want the man in the camp gone too. Let me play my game with full emersion, dont remind me everytime im in camp and see the ! on his head that i havent purchased all the goodies.

NOW other then that I LOVE The game. It has a great storyline and its like being the actor in a movie .. You are part of it, as it twists and plots.  You watch it with the cut scenes and its truely one of the best games I have ever played in that sense.

I dont mind a company throwing in some money making things since its the genre now but NOT in that manner and not right away after release .. to start the gouging.
:(

If they didn't have any downloadable content, would you complain that they didn't have any downloadable content? For what the game has offered me so far (10 hrs in and I'm only a fraction complete), I dare not even think it was incomplete. More would be great, but, I think it's rather baseless to complain about something you don't have to do and about something that is just greedy. You might as well complain that there isn't a team mode or lockpicking minigame. I'd rather have those than more colors on my back.

People are weird, though. Some just have to complain no matter what the situation is. It's who they are. If we were able to stop them from doing it, they would lose their purpose and their existance. I am against this. They can never be wrong, and nothing else can ever be right. It's a great equalizer of our universe. I think if they were denied their existense, the universe would implode prematurely.

BLASPHEMY! THIS IS MADNESS!

Slipfeed's right. There's no way they should try to sell you this during the singleplayer game - if it's available then include it, no excuses.

Next we'll be watching films when we hear "swipe your credit card in the arm rest to see the extra footage" half-way through.

Shame on anyone blindly paying for this. If no one payed then they'd change their plans and release it for free in the future. People power.
