Why not just include everything in big big expansions like the days of BG2: Throne of Ball ??
Its like saying here's this wonderful complete novel and well sell you 4 extra paragraphs for chapters 3, 5 and 8!! Oh wait , what about an extra chapter!!! But HEY if you don't want it DONT BUY IT!!!
This marketing practice just stinks.

I'm more referring to the furore. It's Bioware's particular implementation of this quest that's causing the ruckus here. No-one wants to have to find a character in game that is literally only there to try and sell you premium content. A line has been crossed. The only place you ought to have to learn of it or buy it is in the Downloadable Content part of the main menu.

Bioware is in a business to make money. Sort of like an Airline. If you fly you can choose 1st class or standard seating. If you choose first class you have to pay more. There is no "line" being crossed by airlines charging more for first class because they are (gasp) in the business to make money.
The sooner you nubs realize that Obama is not here to take care of you in the online world the sooner you will log off, find a better job, and then decide whether or not you want to pay an additional 7 dollars for "premium content".
I hope this helps.

I don't necessarily agree with this attitude. The important thing is that a line has been crossed. Have you thought of the consequences if we were to accept it just like this? Then what is next, an endless amount of spamming and pop ups in our games for absolutely irrelevant products to the one that we chose to purchase?allothernamesweretaken wrote...
While it's still bull****, it's an 80+ hour long game. Get over it.

At this point I do not believe I will be buying the Warden DLC on principle, but who knows what the future holds as I get over this, and I will probably get it.
Other wise,
a great game that I am enjoying thoroughly Bioware! Well done!

This is not a matter of money but a matter of principle. It is about respecting you as a customer. And your example is ridiculous, because when you fly once you chose either 1st class or standard seating no airline will bother you during the flight, but instead they will respect you, serve you, and leave you in peace. And can you please drop that elitism? I am European so I don't really care about Obama, and I probably have a better job than you have.

Trust me, I'm far from okay with DLC salemen, and I was trying to formulate a post about why it's a terrible idea, when Penny Arcade went ahead and did it for me. I was more talking about the whole "Eighty hour long game being incomplete without an hour long dungeon," attitude.

No its like there being a add in the middle of the book advertising a short story set in the world of that book. The game by itself without the DLC's IS A COMPLETE STORY. Start, middle, and end. You do not need either DLC to complete the MAIN campaign or to understand it. You will not miss anything or not be able to understand anything in the main games campagin if you do not have the DLC.
Yes the dude in the camp selling it is a dick move and we will need to see how it pans out.

I paid the $75 for the collectors edition and gladly paid the $7 for the DLC in advance. Was quite happy with the storyline it gave me. I don't see the problem. Sorry the experience is ruined for you though.
Wait till the next 20 x $7 you are going to pay! I am sure you gladly give all your life savings to Bioware. Make your offerings mortals to the God Bioware.

Me thinks maybe, the "Gimme money NPC" had less to do with Bioware and perhaps more to do with EA
Since EA owns Bioware does it really matter? EA says jump and Bioware says how high. *shugs* Either way prob the publishers idea (EA) but who knows nor cares at this point. As the peep above said they are in the business to make money so on that level I do not fault them. HOWEVER I do agree the NPC that tries to sell you DLC ingame is a cheap and rude way for advertise it. There are other ways to go about letting players know about the DLC ingame (like during loading screens) without breaking immersion or using bait and switch (See the ! above my head come to talk me... got ya!).

If each of those DLCs contain 1-3 hours of gameplay, than that's still more for your money than the avrage game released these days, most of which are finished in 6-10 hours

I wont be buying from bioware again if they want to sell content they should have included with the main game. People are going to end up paying 100+ dollars for this game that is good. But not great, and certainly not worth it.
Grats on shooting yourself in the foot bioware.
