I dunno... I don't micromanage the stats (past a very basic level).



In my game I'm a sword and shield Warrior and like having Alistair. I have dragonbone versions of all the DLC items. I give Alistair Cailin's armor, shield, and Maric's sword. I use Duncan's sword (I gave 2h Starfang to Sten). I chose to use swords over The Veshaille as well, though that axe rocks!

Dual wield both which is what I do, have a mage with haste to make up for the lost of speed. Its hard to choose between those two but if you had to choose one go with Mairc's blade if you're a S&S character it gives a bonus which helps alot. Duncan's blade I find it a little meh.

The Keening Blade is also a nice sword.

Another vote for Starfang here, but I used Maric's Blade and The Rose Dagger on my Rogue and gave Starfang to Alistair.

I ALWAYS use Starfang as my primary, but in the offhand you can't really go wrong with Duncan's Sword.



I never let anyone but Alistair use Cailen's Armor or Maric's Sword since they are family heirlooms.



Other than Duncan's Sword, I also love Bloodline, or the Rose's Thorn (although I have only bought this weapon once because I can't justify spending that much on a single weapon).
