I don't need proof that you're playing on insanity.

Most of us on these forums have not only played this difficulty, but have also seen countless other videos recorded on insanity. We'll be able to tell if your video is genuine or not. Include the game difficulty in the title of your video and I promise I'll take your word for it.

There is nothing exciting about the OPTIONS menu! Going forward, can we all stop recording it? Please?

Thank you :)

I quit putting that on my videos a while ago, it's just such a bother and you either believe me or you don't.

Agreed. It is kind of repetitive especially if you are watching a few in a row.

I do it out of habit, and as such will never stop.

Might be a silly question, but since I jumped from veteran straight to insanity I really have no idea what the difference between Hardcore and Insanity is. Is there a noticeable difference? Are all of the enemies shielded/barriered/armored? I agree with OP though. Anyone who's played insanity can immediately tell if a video's legit.

I would have a hard time, actually, as I haven't played any other difficulty and wouldn't recognize it right away. It's just a few seconds and proves beyond a reasonable doubt that it is on Insanity. I'd rather spend those few seconds of settings display than have to watch for how much damage a certain weapon does on an enemy and confirm it 3-4 times to be sure. Sort of a pointless request, IMO. Skip ahead if you don't like it. Even if you, personally, accept it's on Insanity, others may not.

It's always good to know the settings of a video you're showing. It's standard to, at the very least, show what difficulty you're playing on. It's not a bit bother, it's very quick, and it removes any questions on the matter.

I agree with Luckmann. It may be annoying, but it establishes what is possibly the most important condition for the events being shown in your video. Part of the criteria for any experiment is that all factors of the experiment have to be documented so that the experiment can be repeated. If an experiment isn't fully documented, then it's results become questionable, and the results will eventually get discredited as unreliable until someone performs a proper experiment. It's the same way in videos. What works on Normal or Casual can easily get you killed on Insanity. If the video you saw didn't have a quick glimpse of the Settings screen, and they were actually working on Normal while you were on Insanity, your results would be vastly different from theirs.

Now, for some of you, recognizing the difference between Normal and Insanity just from gameplay is easy. It's not for me. I much prefer the 10-second clip showing the Settings screen showing that the test is being performed on Insanity than trying to figure it out from watching people get shot and seeing how much their shields or health go down.

To me, without that 10-second clip, a video isn't a reliable instructional aide.

Eh, it's a 10 second blip on the screen to avoid 5000 messages screaming OMG THAT WASN'T INSANITY. It's an unfortunate necessity in my opinion. This forum's fairly civil, but sooner or later the folks in the forum above us will figure out there's more places they can post their flaming drivel, and I'd rather not give them anything other than their imaginary ammunition to bother me with.

I think they already found us.  Have you seen the threads popping up in here?  I have to check which forum I'm in every now and again.

Back on topic:  I'll go back to putting that in my vids when I make one to show how something can be done specifically on Insanity.  I put in a lot of effort to make some instructional videos with annotations and everything else.  I'd appreciate if the viewer put in a little effort to be able to tell the difference in levels, if they care.  It's not hard.  Anyone that has played Hardcore and below prior to playing Insanity will be able to spot it immediately.  Everyone that has asked me if it was Insanity later tells me that they have never played on that difficulty in their replies.  Lastly, anyone that just won't believe unless I post it, well...  the video isn't for them anyway.

Also, the original reason I stopped was because of editing.  I figure, once that first cut happens, it doesn't matter if I showed it or not.  People who are going to call HAX have all the proof they need right there.
