he could play a kind of mentor character. Someone Shep goes to see for advice and possibly advanced training. Possibly a retired Alliance Admiral who has opted to live on the Citadel or some other location.
Either that, or a nightclub owner.
"Have you scheen thesh danshing girlsh?" oh gods the lulz.
Possibly even a Krogan?

1.) Alan Rickman - He could voice a behind-the-scenes bad or good guy. the shadow broker e.g. or another alien equivalent
I believe I speak for many women when I say that Alan Rickman's character should be a male LI for femShep. :innocent: Listening to that beautiful sexy voice deliver romantic dialog... where do I sign?

I'd much rather the money was spend on design rather than making the game 'hollywood'.
If I want to watch a movie I'll do so, but a game is a completely different experience.. and 'hollywood' names are utterly unecessarily in the face of all the genuinely good 'voice actors'...The Bill for the voice acting for ME2 must have been a fortune, the money could have been spent making improvements to the actual gameplay.
Disagree. One of the main attractions of ME is the story and characters. You can't tell me that Martin Sheen and Yvonne Strahovski aren't on a completely different level from Mark Meer....these guys are well known because they can act and they can do it well.
Not necessarily. I've had a lot of exposure to voice acting (have taken classes, and my work - writing dub scripts for anime - has thrown me into that area a lot) and good skill at normal acting doesn't always translate to skill at voice acting. For one thing, regular actors do not only use their voice, but their body language, expressions, etc etc... things they don't have when doing voice acting. There are plenty of otherwise excellent Hollywood actors who deliver wooden performances as voice talent.
Not to say that's always the case... there are plenty of cases of good actors that do well in both formats (off the top of my head, I'd say Martin Sheen, Mark Hamil, Patrick Stewart, and anyone Disney gets to do Hayao Miyazaki movies). Just saying that in some cases, getting a good voice actor is a better idea than getting a good "mainstream" actor.
The thing is, with the more nuanced facial and body expressions possible in modern games, the voice doesn't have to carry the performance any longer. Traditionally, voice actors have to be a little "larger than life" to get a full range of emotion out of animated characters but with techniques like motion capture that's less and less the case. Now I'm not saying we should cast Jessica Alba and Tom Cruise in all our games, I'm not a big fan of the whole "celebrity" system but I do think it means that games should start drawing in some talented actors capable of delivering more subdued and realistic performances.
You're gonna hit me for this I'm sure, but I don't think Yvonne does Miranda any justice. She is meant to be a femme fatale, but neither her voice nor her appearance (which was changed to look like Yvonne) pull that off in my opinion. The concept art in the book is alot better, and its a shame they felt the need to use famous actors and voices to market the game since in her case the role was ruined. She was miscast.

I think that is a bit harsh. I agree that the way the character ended up clearly wasn't what they had originally intended - but she's different not ruined, imo. More ice queen than femme fatale.
If they had wanted to nail femme fatale, I think you would want someone with more of a smoky voice - actually Tricia Helfer would have been a good choice.
