Hi,

I've seen many people having problems with installing their DLC, or having their games crash. I'd love to even be able to get that far.

I've been looking around for other people with the same problem as me and only found 1 other mention of it on the Steam forums here.

basically, I tell Steam to install DA:O.
A window comes up saying installing windows installer.
then after maybe 20 minutes it comes up with this error here

after that it moves on to the physx install but by now, my laptop has slowed to a crawl.
even just right-clicking on the background takes 10 minutes to respond. The only way to fix it is a hard reset.
I tried leaving it, and eventually it finished installing the physx with no apparent problem.

When I try to run the game, it comes up with an error and won't play. I've tried reinstalling, deleting the game and redownloading (which is a huge pain in the butt cos it takes hours for me to do it). I'm also trying it on my lower spec older laptop with XP to see if that makes a difference.
But if I can't play this game on my shiny Toshiba Qosmio gaming laptop (hint's in the name ¬_¬) which is only just a year old, but I can on my 4 year+ bog standard Toshiba, then I will not be a happy camper. This laptop has 4GB of RAM for a reason.

There's been no help from Steam (which is understandable i suppose, seeing as they didn't make the game)
EA only offer the usual response of restart/reinstall/get better computer

I'm curious if Bioware can offer any help.

My PC stats are:

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium (6.0, Build 6002)
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 @ 2.4GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 3036MB RAM
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9700M GTS
Page File: 2069MB used, 4203MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 11

Just in case anyone does find this, the thread I linked too has a fix that worked for me.

I just added the VCRedist to the registry and i'm now downloading and installing my content :)

Haven't tried playing it yet though
