Another Soldier Insanity build?

So I've played Infiltrator on Hardcore and it wasn't too bad at all after I learned my way around the game, except for the Praetorians. I'm a little past halfway with my Hardcore Vanguard (which is a really fun class btw) and I think my next playthrough will be an insanity Soldier.

Here's how I'm going to build her (my other Sheps were male)

4/4 Hardened Adrenaline Rush
0/4 Concussive Shot
3/4 Disruptor Ammo
4/4 Inferno Ammo
1/4 Cryo Ammo
4/4 leaning towards Shock Trooper
4/4 Heavy or Area Reave


Just basing this off of my current level 26 Vanguard by allocating the same amount of points. I don't see the point in wasting 4 points for another +20% damage against Geth primarily, though I don't know how useful it'll be on an assault rifle and on insanity. I found Inferno to be great with my Vanguard at least, charge into a merc or collector who's close to his buddy, once he goes down in a heap of flames his friend may start panicking too.

I plan on spamming Adrenaline Rush of course, but when I'm in the red, Reave, cover, then I'll get my shields back. I've pretty much sworn off having a bonus ammo power since the Soldier already has 3 to pick from, but I'm still open to suggestions. I was thinking Shock Trooper would help me survive on Insanity and the duration bonus would help with Reave.

What do you guys think? I was worried about trying Insanity because I want the game to be enjoyable with some challenge. With my Vanguard on Hardcore, all mercs including krogan are cake, depending on their positioning I'll spam charge even if there's 5-6+ of them including a lieutenant/captain type and still survive.

I agree with most of your list here.



Although, I put one point in concussive rather than cryo. Neither one is very helpful at high difficulties, but concussive shot is better than another ammo power. Try to max out BOTH Disruptor and Inferno ammo, I seem to recall I had enough points to max out 5 skills - plus one extra. I think it's a bug - but I just stuck it in concussive shot.



I tend to lean towards shock trooper as well, although commando inflicts more damage. Usually I prefer to live through a longer battle rather than inflict more damage. Especially in harder difficulties.



Reave is my bonus choice most of the time. Warp Ammo seems to be a favorite, but if you max out both Disruptor and Inferno ammo, you can take out anyone. Plus, Reave helps with barriers and the "I'm Dying!" panic. Also, the recharge time is only 6 seconds, as opposed to the 15 seconds for Barrier/Fortification/Geth Shield Boost.



I've just started my insanity soldier - and since Shepard can re-map his abilities - I'm not too worried about investing points wrong.



The tough part is your team. At maximum - you can max two powers, get one to the 3rd level, and one to the 2nd level. Investing points before loyalty missons makes you miss out on loyalty powers. I spend more time planning my party's powers than Shepard's...simply because there is no "undo" button for them.
