An only slightly related question:

Proximity damage bonuses - additive or multiplicative?

Had the time to test this today, sadly, it seems that the range multipliers are additive.

The damage is calculated in one tenth of a second, this gives shredder no more tactical advantage than it had before. Your all over reacting.

One question I always wondered the answer to for Inferno/Incendiary.

Does the DoT Stack with successive shots, or does it reset each hit.

IE, if I unload 10 AST rifle shots with incendiaries Will all 10 shots process bonus damage, over the 3 seconds from the initial impact, or will only the final shot?

If the former is the case, Inferno rounds are broken, if the Later is the case, I think I'll stick with my Vanguard Warp shots, at least on the Scimitar and Tempest.

I don't think the DoT stacks, I think its calculated that if they're lit on fire, they're taking the DoT damage.

Still, having them panic from fire is one of the main benefits and it still means Incendiary is one of the best at taking out armor (if not the best)

Exactly how good is incend over Warp or AP at taking down armor and health?

It destroys armor faster than AP ammo, and it stuns. I remember someone testing it out but you have my word that Incendiary is the strongest at destroying armor.

masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Incendiary_Ammo

It just says +60% weapon damage over 3 seconds it don't list any bonus against armor. Is it some hidden bonus of fire based attacks?

masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Warp_Ammo

+50% damage but no DoT Seems to me it would do more dmage because it's not spread over time for each shot.

masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Armor_Piercing_Ammo

+70% highest bonus and no DoT seems to be the best front end damage pershot.

Is it to say that perhaps the +60% isn't the "total" damage over 3 second but damage done ever 1 second? So in effect inferno gives 180% damge?

No idea. All I know is Incendiary is calculated all at once on armor and it strips armor faster than AP. I think 180% is a bit of a leap though.

I might investigate this more, you've asked some interesting questions.:wizard:

Inferno does not strip armor faster than AP, but the DoT does stack on health.

Inferno is an instant +60% against armor. Tungsten is +70%. Tungsten is better single target damage in all scenarios.

That's what I was figuring, but people have been saying inferno is better....

Because Inferno will CC the majority of enemies you fight in the game for only a paltry loss of damage compared to AP.

I found the CC from Inferno very unreliable on insanity, and the loss of front loaded damage on health was quite noticeable.

This has been my experience as well.  I find Tungsten more effective even against Vorcha and Krogen.

odd.. i'm completely opposite. I stop firing for 3 seconds to reload and the damn Vorcha/Krogen have half of their life back .. use Inferno and they don't regen their health back.

Huh?!
I'm trying to think of a situation where I'd:
1) Fire on a Vorcha
2) Get it down to health
3) Take off half its health
4) Stop firing on it for 3 seconds.
I have to admit I'm drawing a blank.  Even when fighting Krogan, once I see red, I keep shooting till dead.
Besides, if all you want is to stop regen, then use incindiary or warp on squadmates.
