Shiala is the worst. She's hot, but completely boring. Whoever voiced her did an absolutely terrible job.

When you see her in Illium in ME2 and ask her how Zhu's Hope is doing, she says at one point:

"No, ExoGeni has been very supportive. They actually seem to want to help us survive."

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not. More emotion from Keanu Reeves.

already made this topic on gamefaqs board btw, just needed to spread the hate.

As long as you're talking about her it gives us more avenues to spread the love.  I sound like such a hippie.:P

I suppose we each have our own opinions on these things. Shiala’s stilted dialog makes her appear regimented which I see as supported by her behavior and reflects her personality. However, Shiala becomes demure when speaking to Shepard about perhaps meeting again.

I think this all plays to Shiala’s personality, a disciplined individual, who after great tragedy has found someone (in Shepard) who she can connect with.

Agreed.  She is and interesting character.  It'll be cool if these 2 interactions create the baseline for a more involved story in ME3.  LI/squadmate/misiion, whatever, should be fun to see.

Changes of look already was discussed, but I want add something.

They lost pigmentation around eyes, not critical but bad to me.

Problem with shadows, because of them her face now looks "humpy".

New eyes is more realistic, but now they are less expressive.

Good analysis on the charge in appearance that Shiala underwent between ME and ME2.

I also prefer the appearance of Shiala's clones in the original ME, but I will still happily take her current animated features; because I find Shiala history to be gripping and immensely enjoy her personality.

I did like the ME1 Shiala the best. It looks like she gained a little weight in ME2. :) Either way, I hope she is back in ME3.

The lighting is all weird on Ilium, but her face definitely does look softer. In ME1 all her features were very sharply defined.

I actually wondered what happened to her voice.  I completely overlooked her green look, but I thought it sounded like her VA got a bit of that smoker's voice between ME and ME2.  Hopefully she'll sound better in ME3.

Her face seems to have become slightly rounder in ME2, and her chin/jaw less defined. Here's hoping they fix this and return her to the image of beauty she once was in ME1.

At first I was quite worried too comparing her face in ME1 and ME2, I checked my game option, the resolution was the same as in ME1, but then I tought her looks fit her current state. I think no one (not even an asari medical scientist) can estimate the impact of this thorian possibly genetic alteration. If her biotics got unstable it's only acceptable that her body (and her face as well) was altered.
This even would explain her more husky voice in ME2. ;)

You're right.  I just hope that if it is an issue with the Thorian trying to come back that: 1) We're able to save Shiala if she's to be the vessel (I know it'll be better if we couldn't and I'd both hate and love Bioware for it), 2) We can talk to the new Thorian kind of like we did with the rachni and get insight into what the Protheans truly were like.

I remember my first playthrough of Mass Effect gave me highlighted red and blue options to talk to persuade the Thorian.  Since then I've never seen them come up again.  Don't know if it was because of the patch Bioware later released or what.  I was hoping to see what else could have happened.

By the way, nice job with the comparison picture.

Thorian was a plant, to destroy plant necessary to remove it completely (because even small part enough for regeneration). We didn't it. So it should restore itself with time. But will it remember something?

Shiala was released from a pod after her Thorian host apparent destruction. I have mildly speculated that she was released as a seed to germinate on another planet at some future time. Shiala seems to be increasingly suffering from the effect of the Thorian in a much different manner then the former thralls. The most conspicuous are the vivid dreams that she has been having. I am very interested in seeing this potential plot explored.

Seems possible. Reproduction throw humanoid seeds.  It may be a horror theme in ME.
Also it very long time lived with protheans and they didn't destroy it. Thorian's species even could be a part of prothean culture, and they was usual part of  big colonies.

But maybe all this dreams just a signs of restoration of mind connection between Thorian and colonists? After all we just destroyed only it's biggest nodus.

About different planet.
In any case Shiala stays on Feros (even if all colonists was killed in first part),  looks like she just forced to stay there but cannot understand this. I doubt that she will leave it.

P.s. Just realized that we haven't seen prothean's homeworld.

Hm, what if the Thorian developed himself from a prothean host. There has to be a way even this species reproduces himself. So maybe the Thorian has chosen Shiala as the next host to produce the next generation of himself. She wouldn't accept any cure which endangers others, so I sense a grim fate for our beloved asari ex-commando. :crying::unsure:

Anyone else who was quite disappointed about the lacking of either a dossier or a video about Shiala in the Shadowbroker's intel center? There were quite a few minor characters who were took into consideration (some of them I even don't remember having met).
But shouldn't the Shadow Broker be more interested into Shiala as a resource for information? Some thoughts:
- Shiala has the cipher and with that potent knowledge about the Protheans so she's more of an Prothean expert than Liara with all her studies. So if the SB is looking for Prothean information regarding the Reaper problem, Shiala should be top on his list.
- She came into closer contact with the Thorian than any living being in the galaxy and apparently gained some knowledge out of this connection - knowledge which could have been useful to the SB.
-- She has changed since the events on Feros, obviously the connection destabilized her biotics - at her current state the Shadow Broker as well as the Illusive Man should be eager to get their hands on her.
I wonder if there be minor updates concerning the dossiers and the vids in the intel center. At least you are told after leaving the video archive to come back later and chack for more, but I played the DLC after the suicide mission and I don't know if this message is just meant regarding the advance in the main story.
What do you think?

I expected this after video with Wong. But no. :(
Problem that those characters alive in every game, and Shiala is not.

Yep, I know, this seems to be allways the problem, but

a) it could have been "old" video footage - for example from the time as Benezia's disciple

B) the dossier could have been easely altered depending on her fate

This way we could have finally learned her family name btw. ;)

I think the appearance change was done to show how ill she was. I agree that the facial model in ME1 was better but I can see the change of a sick and worried lady in the ME2 model.

As for the videos/info in the SB lair, well I think that's just the first bunch... here's hoping for more additions to the intel in future DLC.. some of which is Shiala!

Hello! I just wanted to direct your attention for a moment to the new introduction to the forum with an outline of the purposes of this forum now that it has been separated from the strategy discussion.

You have discussion of your favorite character going fairly well, but I'd also encourage you guys to present any fan-created works about the series to your other forumites!
