The way I see this is, just because they've cropped a 'choice' from the comic, doesn't mean all other things won't have a chance of appearing in ME3 just because it doesn't seem to be in the PS3 version.
Think of it this way, if that were the case, surely none of those choices would have mattered for the PC/360 version of ME2 (thus no sign of Gianna Parasini, Shiala, Rana, emails from various people etc.)
I look at the PS3 version as allowing the PS3 players to choose how to handle the more 'critical' parts of the story. The rest are treated just as the default shep deals with it (or just doesn't encounter it because default shep didn't do sidequests)
Now with regards Feros. I think people are reading too much into the article. The comic isn't going to be able to go into that much great deal about the Thorians because that would end up with a comic frame in which it is pretty much covered in text. What I do think possibly has happened is that the whole thing with the Colonists getting taken over has been taken out and possibly the skyway trip too and cut right to the end of that mission going in kicking thorian butt then have to choose whether to spare Shiala or not.
When I originally read that there were just 6 choices in the comic, I assumed they would be LI, Rachni, Wrex, VS, Council and Councillor, but Scyhozoa pointed out how the last choice is possibly made on the shuttle with Miranda and Jacob due to the save occuring before that choice is made (makes sense seeing as the conversation with TIM occurs after the auto-save too). The reason I hadn't thought that is because I am sure I had heard default shep got Udina so whenever I've been in that shuttle I've either chosen him if default or one of my sheps who chose him or chosen anderson if one of my imports chose him. I've never tried 'testing' the system so to speak.
So if that choice is made there and that has carried over to the PS3 version too. Then that leaves a choice open and if I was going to list any of the other choices, Shiala would be next in line. Though only just pipping Rana to the spot purely because of the potential of Shiala being more than just someone who runs off next time she is seen (even though I do have theory bout her return in ME3 as well).
This leaves us with 2 possibilities, the choice being there, could give stronger indication to her being a potential squadmate in 3 (she would tie in with my theory of Shep getting people Shep trusts and they trust Shep) and potential LI (ME2 of course dropping a hint there that she is interested) or the choice isn't there and whilst she might not appear in any PS3 playthroughs or default ME2/ME3 playthroughs (or ones where shep shot her) there is the potential for her to show up again for those that spared her on PC/360 and even maybe still potential for her to be an LI even if not squadmate (kelly chambers leading the potential example to follow in this situation).
I might be wrong and she just might never appear again other than maybe an email or worse nothing. But I'm going to keep the faith that Bioware aren't just going to drop stuff just because of the PS3 version and that is coming from someone who will be getting that version as well, but rather likes the idea of one of his PC/360 Sheps hooking up with Shiala... though if she thinks she is getting her hands again on my Liara Sheps, she got another thing coming... only 1 Asari is getting chance to embrace eternity with them again and their favourite colour is blue, not purple or green.
Keep the faith people
