I gave the base to TIM, not because I trust him but because I think the technology on the base can turn out to be very useful and could make the difference in the final battle.. I would rather have kept it to find out what type of technology is on there than destroy it and learn nothing.

If TIM gets totally out of hand and goes power hungry, Shepard can always take care of him. No worries there. I gave humanity the benefit of the station. Destroy the station and no one wins. All you end up with is a bunch of 'feel goods' and "what a good job" from the crew.

Normandy isn't ran by committee and neither are Shepards decisions.

Actually, I dont see not destroying the base as giving it to Cerberus.

There is only one (known) available IFF. That was on the derelict reaper. It is now installed onboard the Normandy. TIM doesnt have it.

The IFF from Sovereign is either;

1) Destroyed with the rest of Sovereign

2) In the hands of the Alliance

3) In the hands of The Shadow Broker

4) Sitting on some scrap merchants shelf

For the last 3, it might be operational, it might be damaged beyond repair, or they might not know what it is.

Even with the Collector base and its defenses gone, would you still attempt a jump into the galactic core with standard protocols that allow drift of thousands of kilometers?

After deciding not to blow it up, I reckon you should have had another 3 choices on who gets the base. Alliance, Cerberus, or keep it for yourself. Keeping for yourself would be interesting, as you have basically the galaxies finest to unravel its secrets, as long as noone forgets their tin-foil hat to prevent indoctrination.

Giving the base to the Alliance would be like giving it to Cerberus. The same with the Council if you are going by the default/renegade outcomes. The alien Council would probably dismiss its existence unless you physically took them there to look at it; which they'd never agree to do.

Ultimately what will cost be? I suspect humanity will continue to out-compete everyone else and will continue to be feared and hated.

Need a paragon persuade option in ME3 to convince Cerberus to become pro-galaxy.

And a paragon interrupt to slap the Illusive Man in the face with a fish if that fails.

And yes, I can imagine you trying to give it to the council. They'll deny its existence, no doubt.

The Council reminds me of the man in black from Irregular Webcomic.

I've been re-reading these posts trying to decide what to do with the base on my latest play through. On my first playthrough I decided to destroy it. Ive seen in other threads where everyone feels that for ME3, we will need to gather allys to battle the reapers, and after seeing the trailer it looks likely.

I got to thinking that maybe the decision on the reaper base relates to that also. If you destroy the base you either cant convince Cerebus to help you or at least it is harder to gain their help. If you keep the base then Cerebus is more likely to help you in the battle.

I havent seen this twist actually discussed, but if it has sorry for missing it.

Thoughts??
