Why fix something that isn't broken?

Level scaling isn't broken - because saying something is broken means it can be fixed in theory.
Level scaling is something absurd and therefore needs to be eliminated.

???? Your logic does not follow from the premises. If you are  going  to attempt logic dont do it incorrectly...
Also, Level scaling is an attempt to eliminate linearity which kills most games and diminishes replay value.

That's your opinion, not mine. And if you're on PC, there are mods to fix that. :P

Right. Care to explain what confused you?

I never said I was confused, I was using the ???? more as a point to show wtf is this? Also, it isnt confusion, from the looks of how you had stated that, you were trying to use a logical standpoint which the conclusion did not follow from the premises, leaving it to be both invalid and unsound.

His logic is that "linearity" is better than level scaling, because it gives challenge to optimized characters, which Bioware evidently doesn't want to do.

I really have no way to reply to this, but I will attempt anyways.

I'm thinking out defenition of logic is a bit different, yours would be the logic of putting 2 and 2 together. What I'm thinking of is a bit different and requires a college class, lol.

Also, look back on the post you missed after he asked why I was confused.

I will repeat myself in what I said though, Linearity kills games, if there is too much of it, which the way you guys are asking for it is, then it will completely destroy replay value.

The game has curbed the choices by making certain areas off limit BECAUSE it had to set monster levels too high.

 What's so surprising about it?

I was under the impression the mod you referenced merely changed the game from Level Scaling to no Level Scaling, which I said wouldn't work.

It now appears the mod only turns off some Level Scaling, but also makes areas open in the vanilla game off limits until you reach a certain level.

I don't know the point in history when (some) players started expecting to be able to go EVERYWHERE HERE AND NOW & complete the area. Even in DA you can't do it.

Thats true, but the areas you can access are clearly signposted.

The more linear you make the game, the less something like Level Scaling is required.

How about a new strategy - this area is too hard for me now, I'll come back later.

The problem with that approach is that people WILL go there and get frustrated that they can't make any progress, many player might even give up altogether. Much better to disallow access to the area rather than frustrate players.

No, genlocks and hurlocks have a level tied to the area they're in, just like in the vanilla edition.

So when I earlier stated the game wouldn't work without level scaling I was basically right, since even the mod to remove level scaling recognises the game still needs level scaling.

Oh, Jesus Christ. First this and later I'll try to clear that guy's confusion about logic.

No, you misunderstood. Nothing scales and everything has a set level.

Perhaps you don't understand how level scaling is done in Dragon Age - it's BY AREA not by creature.

He simply assigned a fixed level to each are, not a range of levels.

So what if they're accessible? That's the point, no? You can try, and you probably will defeat some enemies - get some xp and find some loot, but you're not guaranteed to be able to defeat the enitre area cluster HERE & NOW.

The problem with that approach is that people WILL go there and get frustrated that they can't make any progress, many player might even give up altogether. Much better to disallow access to the area rather than frustrate players.

Oh, poor babies. Let's cry together for them, shall we?

No, that's the fun. Some WILL BE ABLE TO, SOME WON'T. Those who won't will have to find another solution. That's all part of a game that is NOT linear, yet has NO level scaling. That's how games were done ONCE upon a time when people still wanted a challenge and were not cry babies who want everything served on a silver plate, coupled with silly romances and a MMO ruleset.

So when I earlier stated the game wouldn't work without level scaling I was basically right, since even the mod to remove level scaling recognises the game still needs level scaling.

No, you were not right and still aren't, because you didn't understand what I wrote.

You don't need to say you're confused to be confused and you certainly are (about something).

Ok, I ask you again to point out what's not logical in those two sentenecs.

Oh, but you can't, because you're pulling things from your ass to start an infantile fight. :wizard:

No ladydesire, that's not the meaning of those two sentences, either.

If you will be defining something based off a fallacy then it is not logical, if you want to say it is you are wrong, if you dont understand, take a class in it.

Your logic, well that's how you call it at least, is worth exactly like a torn shoe in garbage.

Don't bother me with your petty remarks.

Even a retard would understand the meaning of those 2 sentences, clearly stated, yet you pull some obscure logic card from your ass to make a statement about it. How strange for a discussion on the bioforums.. :?

There are no talking sense to some people, I guess you are just fully content with beleiving nothing but your point of view, no changing that so no point in bothering trying to have a competant conversation with someone who does not wish it.

As much as I wish to stop, I cant see incompitance go on without some sort of post...

When you say something is wrong, that means it isnt correct, correct? When you say something is absurd it is based off opinion and you cannot base fact off opinion and call it correct now...

This makes it a fallacy, fallacy means it false and is not logical, do you understand now?

So all this enormous confusion in your head stems from the fact that saying "level scaling is absurd" is an opinion?

Ok, to make you sleep better - yes, d'oh, it's my opinion.

Just for information; I said fact/wrong in the 2 sentences ... where?
I actually even agreed with her, saying level scaling isn't broken. It's not broken, it's just absurd.

You are saying it must be taken away based on your own opinion nobody elses. As well as you say it must be eliminated based on your own opinion. In the end I will just say get over it and play the game as it is made and let them have it as a scaled game and let the modder to it. So i will, if you dont like it, mod it.

It's absurd that Bioware wants Nightmare to be a challenge to more players than just those that know how to, or want to, min\\max their characters? Ok, I can buy that; I don't agree with it though, and neither does Bioware.

Also, there are basic sentence structures in logic. I assumed sense you used the terms and somewhat of the structure I figured you were speaking logically, I see now, you were just trying ot seem smart... I will show you what I mean with some examples of this structure...

If A then B.

If B then C.

Therefore if A then C.

Gee. You're bewildering and amusing at the same time.

Yeah, again, how's that not logical? I said a feature is <adjective> (I explained extensively why I think that in previous posts) and therefore needs to be eliminated.

Seriously, I'd do a complete check up if I were you.

In logic, you learn to take nothing based on emotion and opinion for they are fallacies themselves.

Take only things based off pure factual proof, nothing based off anothers pure thoughts.

Sure, that's what a discussion forum is for. *roll eyes* We'll try to write just FACTS approved by MrBoomba's logic, just to make him a happy puppy.

Ladydesire, what does that have to do with anything? Can you reread the sentence and make some sense of it?

It isnt my logic, it is factual logic, people have just distorted what logic really is into something it is not. Go look up Aristotle, Socrates, Boolean, and Plato.
