Relic is releasing it really soon (March 11), and they're releasing the expansion units (for the core game factions) for free.

Relic is awesome, Chaos Rising looks awesome (and will be great), and I'm ultraexcited.

Who's with me?

The price tag kinda makes me shy away a bit from purchasing it.  Getting the expansion units for free for the Space Marines, Orks, Eldar, and Tyrannids is nice.  I'll see what people say about it after it comes out before I fork out $30 or $40 (can't remember which it is) for one new army and a couple new maps to play with.  I already played the campaign twice, once by myself and once co-op so thats not that useful.  And two new Last Stand heroes I'll probably never use because I like my Farseer as is :P

I think Steam's pricing is utterly ridiculous :P

I've seen it on Amazon/GAME for £20 but Steam has it for £30, and you can get a GotY with DoW2 from somewhere for £35...

I don't know if I'll get it, truth be told. I might do just for a change from RPGs.

Last Stand... one of the best free content updates I've ever seen.  The new heroes for that look really cool.

It's 30 USD (I payed 21 USD through Amazon Prime).  Really I think 30 is a fair price, that's basically what's expected from Expansion pricing.

If you liked the campaign in the first then you'll probably enjoy the new stuff they're adding just as much.  They've said that the missions are significantly larger than in the first game, and there are 15 new missions in the campaign.  It'll probably be at least 10 hours long depending on the difficulty (Primarch is brutal).

They're also adding a Corruption system that will unlock different skill-paths and close out other ones (also change the course of the campaign, meaning there will be different endings), and increasing level cap to 30.

Multiplayer: 7 new maps, and they're adding a 6 player FFA gametype that has 5 destructable (and repairable) capture points.

And of course the new units, Chaos Marine race, and 2 new heroes for Last Stand.

I like my mekboy, but the Hive Tyrant and Chaos Sorcerer look too cool to pass up.

Yes Relic is awesome and I have been waiting for this for a long time. How dare they leave my Chaos Marines out... of course it was nice to see the Tyranids take the front stage for once.

Oh and Relic needs to get their hands on the rights to Homeworld. I just felt that needed to be said.

Heh, I guess there aren't too many 40k fans around.

I hope it has a better single player, I don't mind the more simplified gameplay, it's the repeated missions of basically doing the same thing over and over again with very poor story-telling. These were the guys who made Homeworld, big grand space epic, Dawn Of War 2 felt like a bad saterday morning cartoon.

Ya that was something I found lacking. Even having two maps for each zone would of done something.

Also Cyrus (your scout leader) is Wilson (the traitor) I wonder if he is going to be corrupted in the expansion :)

I'm going to get it, but DoWII will remain a disappointment for me due to the lack of Ork campaign.Posted Image

Oh I'm sure there's a good deal more of us than just post in this thread. I for one am going to get Chaos Rising. More 40k in video game form can only be a good thing.

Not the greatest of games but it does try to do the table top Warhammer game justice. I liked it.

I want the expansion and I even went back and replayed the first campaign a couple weeks ago, however, there are so many new titles that have recently came out, and others that are coming out in the next couple weeks that I think this one will be put on the back burner for awhile.

Yeah, I'm actually over halfway through the campaign on Primarch.

There are a lot of great games coming out in 2010, and that have already been released (not even 1/4 way through).
