That said, I used to be ambivalent about Oghren, until I read the US text about him. It found it rather moving, and cast the character in a different light (showing, among other things, that his machismo is mostly cover-up).

I gave him a chance in Origins, but it took no time for me to learn that skipping all his dialogue allowed me enjoy the game more. He was quickly relegated to camp and ignored until I was forced to take him along. I would have even skipped that forced quest if I could have.
I'll go further this time when forced to bring him along. I'll turn down the volume, unequip him and send him out ahead as darkspawn bait.
If I didn't love Origins as much as I did, this news would have made me pass on Awakening.

AFAIK, Oghren doesn't have his kid yet, and probably isn't married either.
Sorry buddy. Says so right here.

After the archdemon was defeated, Oghren settled down with his old flame Felsi and had a child.

BTW, this means, definitively, the expansion takes place more than 9 months after the end of Origins.
So those who were saying your 6-months-off marriage hasn't happened yet... sorry, it already did.

Call me crazy but could he have knocked her up before she left for the surface?
Also glad to have him back programmed correctly Oghren was a killing machine second only to shale.

Ah well. Didn't use him much in my first two playthroughs. Maybe I'll use him instead of Sten this time around... What happened to Leliana and Zevran, by the way?
Leliana and Zevran encountered a mysterious phenomenon in Ferelden that is called "Warden's love disappearance for an unknown reason without being able to do anything about it", or shorter " Wld".
The chantry is currently investigating the matter as it appears dark magic and possibly demons are at work here.
Rumors say they discovered a yet unknown kind of demon, even more powerful than the pride demon, called "The Writer", who might be responsible for all of this, an monstrous entity with unimaginable power who feasts upon the heartsickness of the victims

my understanding is the epilogue tells you what happens in general to the npcs. not what happens in the 3-6 months following origins, but what happens in the future to all of them. for instance, sten goes home in my playthroughs. it doesn't mean he goes home for 5 months and then reappears in ferelden. he goes home to live out his life. the epilogue is what everyone does with their lives, not what they do until awakening. awakening could conceivably take place before oghren gets married and has kids.Slarth79 wrote...
Just how much time has passed since the end of the blight? I was under the impression that it was a few months?!

How long does it take a Female Dwarf to give birth? I was under the impression this was only a couple months later.
I heard that Awakenings picks up a couple or few months after Origins, but from other developer interviews, and the Oghren having a child thing, I think its likely somewhere close to a year or more after Origins conclusion.
Also it should be noted that Origins itself probably took 6 months to a year for the party to complete the quest. According to the Dragon Age RPG, the Circle Tower is about 18 miles from the Lake Calenhad docks, meaning Ferelden itself has to be at least a couple hundred miles across (east to west), probably more. I'll double check the distances when I get home.
Anyway, when considering those distances and the fact the party is traveling on foot (I don't remember any horses), it probably takes at least a few weeks to travel between Denerim and, say, Orzammar, etc. So when you factor in all the main quests, the side quests, and the travel time between all the different locations (and backtracking), I think 6 months to a year is a pretty decent estimate of the time which passes during Origins.
The fact that Oghren was able to have a kid with Felsi between Origin's end and the beginning of Awakenings means 9 months at least have passed (assuming dwarves birthing process is comparable to that of humans).
I've just assumed that Awakenings is occuring in 9:31 DA at the earliest, possibly even 9:32 DA.

No one stated anything about six months. In the IGN interview Fernando Melo said something about "several months" and then everyone started making assumptions. I honestly don't know how everyone came up with the digit 6.
Several could mean 10 or 12 or 18 or whatever. And yes folks, that means some of our characters are fathers now too.
This isn't accurate. Several, as a word, is defined as: Consisting of a number more than two but not very many.
Most commonly, several is used when talking about a number like 3,4, or 5. Anything more than that usually isn't an accurate use of the word, and more than 10, or 12, or 18 certainly isn't.
So thats probably why people started assuming 6 months or less, because the word "several" actually means that (or somewhere in that ballpark).

Though i am a little concerned about him, not that it's a spoiler as it's in his new bio, but considering the end of the original had him settle down with felsi (and possibly name a kid after me) i see he returns in awakening have'n already done this, which now make him a blank slate
I worry if he might be killed in awakeing.....origins & mass effect 2 had die-able team mates an with the whole "feralden changes forever" thing this expansion keeps going on about, i worry bout the lil midget ; ;
