"I've put this into my last couple of community reports to the dev team
(as well as the corrupted saves bug). Soon, we will be deciding on the
contents of the next title update, so we should be able to let you know
at least when/if it will be fixed."
Don't hold your breath.

What's the dexterity glitch?
On the consoles the Rogue class modifier is .5 when it should be .8 or 1.0 for Daggers. To me its not such a big deal, but some people think it breaks the game. My Rogue does sick damage as it is so if the dex bug were fixed it just means he would feel overpowered.

PS3 is getting a title update tomorrow. Our first.
It may be the same update Xbox already got, although some of the things that were fixed in the xbox update were fixed on the PS3 version before it even shipped (like the darkspawn blood thing in Ostagar, I was never able to turn that in multiple times, and the Blood Dragon Armor was shipped with the nerfed stats).
I'd love to see the dex bug fixed in it, as that is about the only thing that I've had affect me, well that and Vaughn doing the snoring thing. I don't know that I expect it though.

Um no.... The dex glitch is that rogues get 100% cunning modifier, when they should be getting 50% dex/50% cun. This means that rogues are way more powerful on consoles than they should be, since it effetively doubles the damage due to attributes.

The only thing that was fixed in the update for the 360 was achievments and the screw up with specializations locking.

Really? I thought there was more than that, but I can't find any patch notes anywhere.

Ah ok. I thought it was that dex wasn't being taken into account when calculating dagger damage hence why people don't go beyond 36 dex when leveling.

State your source.
I've been following the "dex bug" for 2 months now and this is the FIRST time I've ever seen someone claim this to be true. Unless you can provide me with a credible thread with actual figures tested by people you are full of it.

When playing as a rogue, or with rogue characters such as Zevran and
Leliana, Dexterity is meant to represent the Rogue's attack power and
in fact high dexterity is required to equip the best daggers.
Unfortunately, according to the official Bioware Forums, there is a
problem with this. At the moment, the rogues attack power is being
represented in strength alone, meaning that increasing dexterity to use
better quality daggers, will not increase attack power as it is
supposed to. Bioware released 1.02 patch that should fix this problem.
So, is that what is happening?

Pretty much. The reason why cunning was listed above, I believe, is that most people take the talent which allows Cunning to be used instead of strength as a damage modifier. Either way, dex doesn't factor into it and it should. And while the 1.02 patch fixed it on PCs, it's yet to have been patched on consoles.

His definition was the first time I had heard that also that's why it took me by surprise.

I had always heard that Rogues are basically getting the wrong damage multiplier for damage (.50) which would mean half the amount it should be, but then this other guy came in with some nonsense about 50% and 50% which I had never heard before.

Certain weapons, (daggers) are supposed to use Strength AND Dexterity as their damager modifiers. (.50 + .50).
However, with the current bug, these weapons are also using only Strength as the modifier.
Rogues have a talent (Lethality) that allows them to use their Cunning as a modifier on all weapons instead of Strength.
This bug allows Rogues (specifically DW Cunning Rogues) to simply stack Cunning for massive damage, since the damage modifier is 100% Strength (Cunning) instead of 50% Strength (Cunning) and 50% Dex.

Are the bugs the same on console and PC?
#23
Posté 04 mars 2010 - 07:35
It does not matter whether or the not bugs are the same. (They are.)
The point is the solution. The original intent of daggers is a 50/50 split of str/dex.
If/When the consoles are patched, this is the solution that you will see.

If the bug on the PC is the same bug effecting consoles then fine, but if its not then what you have said is completely irrelevant, hence why I asked if the bugs are the same on the console and the PC.

Posté 04 mars 2010 - 07:50
Even if the bug is different, once it is fixed, the result will be the same.
Once patched, daggers on all platforms (PC, PS3, or 360) will behave in the same fashion, and that is a 50/50 split.
