Greetings.  I'm physically disabled.  And getting up to change a Disk in my PS3 often is both painful and exhausting.  With that being said.  I have a couple of questions about Awakening.

If I purchase the Expansion on a Disk, will I have to constantly get up to change the Disk back and forth if I want to switch playing between Origins and Awakening?  Because if so, I think i'd rather purchase it on the Playstation Network so I can just leave Origins in and switch between the two.  And with that being said...

If I purchase Awakening on Disk, will it save me room on my  PS3 Hard Drive or will it still take up the same amount of Hard Drive space after the Install?

This information will help me decide which format I wish to purchase the expansion on.  Thank you for your time.  Good day.

Sincerely,
An Avid Dragon Age Fan

I'd like to know too, but with the PC instead.

Yes, I'm curious about this as well. I speculate that the Awakenings retail disc will simply install the expansion to the PS3/360's hard drive, with the content then being accessible through the main menu of Origins.

For Xbox 360, you will need to

Origins disk. You will also need the Origins disk if you want to play
any of the Origins DLC.

I would think the same applies to the ps3 disc version. So to download it from PSN will probably work best for you.

I couldnt find any information on how much disc space the retail version needs. It will probably work as Origins did. 2-3 gigs is mandatory and the rest are read from the disc.

why would you want to in the middle of play awakening go back and play origins?
you can't take any of the stuff back into origins. for the ps3 at least you will put in awakening it will install and then you will put in origins and there will be a new menu option for awakening and you push that. The thing you people need to understand is this nothing more than big DLC. The only reason you would want to buy it on a disc is because it's very big and would take forever to download.

They mean in case you want to play Origins, just because you have the "expansion" does not mean you don't want to play the original game ever again.

you'll just have to exit out to the main menu that's all

I dont think this correct if you buy it on disc. You have to have awakening disc in the drive to play awakening, and origins disc in the drive to play origins.

He was asking for a way to get rid of the disc swapping. I believe buying it from PSN is the only way to do that.

Is there any good in buying the disc? I mean, ok, it's faster then dowload, but something other than this? My dragon age disc came with two DLC free, so i was wondering if we will get something like this in awakening...

I really wish someone from Bioware would answer this. I'm not trying to be pushy, but I really want to buy Awakening, but I don't want to buy it until I have an answer to this question. It's very important to me. Please help when you have time. Thank you.

I would suggest PMing someone from Bioware directly. There are a lot of posts here and they don't read all of them. Ferret has been good about answering my questions via PM. http://social.bioware.com/110152/

I am fairly sure that if it works that way for the xbox 360, it will work that way for the PS3. I would suggest purchasing it on PSN.

You wont need to go 'back and forth' as once your character has started Awakenings...that character can't play origis anyway (except through an earlier save) :)

I was under the impression, from the dev's Q&A on the live video thingie, that you install Awakening but you still need the Origins' disk to play. I'm about 95% sure that you install (whether from DLC or disk) but then you insert Origins and use that to play Awakening.

Awakening MUST use the Origin's core game to run. Awakening is an expansion and not a stand alone game.

SO, to answer your question, you SHOULD have to install Awakening and then use only the Origins disk.

"I" recommend to YOU that you just buy the download. It won't take that long to get and it will solve any disk changing problems you may have.
