Also, to those that have said I won't be able to play Origins again once the character is in Awakening. Please let me clarify. I'm aware I can't take someone from Awakening to Origin, but suppose I want to start a new character in Origins, or play a character I haven't moved to Awakening yet. Even though I'm going to love Awakening, I'm still going to want to play Origins from time to time with other characters. That's what I mean. Sorry for the confusion.

Agreed, but the OP could make life much easier for himself by moving the console nearer (small table near the sofa, perhaps, or a desk?).Jack Anvil wrote...
I don't see how your disability is relevant.
The case isn't being helped by hordes of blank posts that are needlessly bumping the topic.

Those come with the download version of Origins as well.Felipevelloso wrote...
Is there any good in buying the disc? I mean, ok, it's faster then dowload, but something other than this? My dragon age disc came with two DLC free, so i was wondering if we will get something like this in awakening...

Are you saying that a disable person asking a question is wrong ?
Are you stating that a disabled person cannot play video games ?
What are you trying to imply that his disability is irrelevant ?
Dude, the guy could be sitting on a wheelchair or have to transfer to his wheelchair or use something to support him when he has to change disks, that would require a whole lot of effort and energy for a disabled guy.
Assuming that the guy or some other disabled guy is living alone, and while changing disk an accident occurs no one will no aye ? Therefore the question is relevant.
Without changing disk could help this poor soul who is disabled play his games more easily is it so wrong ? Its not because he's lazy its just he has greater trouble to change disk due to his disability.
For all we can know is that there are more disabled people who have trouble changing disk, if it can help them play games more comfortable what's wrong with that ?
We non-disabled people can be such douches at times. Be glad you can walk, suddenly one day god makes you disabled in a way that makes you having trouble to change disk is the day where you will regret saying that how can a disability be irrelevant.

What a self righteous waste of a post. All he was saying is that the OPs disability actually has othing to do with the question he is asking. Which I agree with. Not to get personal, but why mention your disability at all, if not to try and get some sort of special treatment. The question is perfectly reasonable, and no one needs to know anything about your personal situation to justify you asking it.
On top of which, the question has already been answered. If the game is on the PSN, why would you not buy it there? Doing so clearly avoids the issue.

As to why he doesn't just go ahead and get it from PSN, well maybe he's found a disk version that's cheaper than the PSN version? Maybe he just wants to know his options?
I agree though, the blank posts to bump it are unnecessary OP. If you don't get an answer from any of your PMs I'd suggest looking for other routes like calling in or maybe the PS3 tech support forum.

Not trying to be special or something, but seriously take your ass and imagine if you have to keep getting on your supports just to switch disk, something that us normal people can do within 1 minute but can cause disabled people 30 minutes to do.

If I just posted "Hey I don't feel like getting up to change my disk will this work?" Then I would continuously get flamed about how "lazy" I am. As for special treatment. That's a crock. I have NEVER and WILL NEVER ask for "special treatment" because of my handicap. I do not consider myself any greater or any lesser than anyone else. Rather they have a disability or not.
In my opinion, my disability IS the most relevant thing ABOUT this post. And while I didn't consider the specifics of my disability relevant, since others seem to think it's "so easy" to fix my problem, then I'll elaborate on the issue. Even though it strays for the original topic at hand.
I'm Morbidly Obese at 650 pounds. As a result, I have chronic pain. Bad knees. A bad back. Diabetes. And a whole slew of other problems in regards to my weight. I won't list them all. It's unnecessary. But my doctor wants me off my knees and feet as much as possible.
Because of my disability, I have to get a custom made electric chair made for me. I also had to get special furniture to support my weight and the pain. I live alone in a very small apartment. And I had friends hook up everything for me, as I could not. I mention this because, with the size of the chair, and the furniture, combined with the small size of the apartment, there's no way I can even GET to my PS3 in my mobile chair.
And for that very same reason, there is no way in my current setup, to have the PS3 near me in order to change disks. I wish there was, but unfortunately, there isn't. I've been overweight all my life, and even though I only drink water, and eat a small meal a day, low in carbs, low in fat, low in sodium, and low in calories. I'm still overweight and neither I, nor my doctor, can figure out way. All testing comes back normal.
As for why I mentioned I'm disabled in the topic. I had the following topic for this thread for two weeks before changing it: "Will PS3 Retail Version of Awakenings Require Disk to Play?"
It got practically NO responses. My decision to change the topic was because I had hoped that the topic would get noticed by developers easier as the original one wasn't working. If you call that "special treatment" then I'm sorry. But I don't agree with that. I've noticed the developers respond to some of the most pointless and off topic posts in these entire forums. So it baffles me as to why they haven't responded to what I personally consider a fairly valid and important question. I can only assume they don't have the answer for me.
As for why I don't just buy it on PSN and be done with it? In all honesty, I probably will. However, I'd rather have it on a disk for a few reasons.
1.) I prefer to not have to download it.
2.) I prefer to have a backup so I don't have to Re-download it, should the need to reinstall arise.
3.) The disk MIGHT take up less room on my hard drive.
But ultimately, if I have to buy the expansion on the PSN so I can save myself both pain and damage to my knees, I will.
In closing. I will say that you all are right about there be no need for me to make blank posts to bump the topic. But I don't know any other way to get my topic noticed. I know, from personal experience, that when I come here, I rarely look past the first page. So I can understand how easy it is for a topic to simply fall off the forums unnoticed.
Perhaps I'm being selfish by bumping my topic to the top with blank posts? Well if so, I apologize, and I assure you, it won't happen again.

for the ps3 at least you will put in awakening it will install and then you will put in origins and there will be a new menu option for awakening and you push that. The thing you people need to understand is this nothing more than big DLC.
I dont think this correct if you buy it on disc. You have to have awakening disc in the drive to play awakening, and origins disc in the drive to play origins.
He was asking for a way to get rid of the disc swapping. I believe buying it from PSN is the only way to do that.
I take it xbox users can't go digital form? Because (I'm on PC) my whole DA game is digital, from start to finish..so no disc swapping for me..all keyboard commands.
I realize that may not be possible for the OP, but it might be a thought to ease your distress...go PC version.

Lady of the Waters: I'd appreciate it if you'd actually read my posts before posting your thoughts, as then you'd know, I already agreed to stop doing this. Thank you.
Feraele: I probably should have purchased it on PC but as I have already invested my money into the PS3 version, and I don't have a lot of money, i'm kinda stuck with what I got. Thanks for the advice though. =)
ClonePatrol: If your right that would rock! That's kinda what i'm hoping for to be honest but I want to be sure first. Also, I did message 4 different Moderators on the issue. Only David Gaider responded, but unfotunately, he didn't know the answer. I'll keep trying though.
DianeLyn56: Thanks i'll try that number now!! =)

I also seem to remember (a post or maybe something said in an interview) that if you get the retail PS3 version of Awakening, it will just install to your PS3 harddrive, and you then only need the Origins disc to play. Or the Awakening disc. I can't remember. If it works like the old Baldur's Gate games, you'll need the Awakening disc to play both the expansion and the original game.
You might also, Chillfire, try to contact EA support about your question. I think questions like these are decided in a meeting between EA, Sony, Microsoft and some of the top developers i.e. not your average developer that just writes and designs the game.
You could also try to PM Fernando Melo, as he is the developer from Bioware that's (partly) responsible for online production and such. Have your tried sending a PM to Chris Priestly or Victor Wacter?

I believe this is for the 360 version as well like the DLC disc for Fallout 3 and the expansion disc for Oblivion it is essentially going to be installed either way, but with the hard copy you can get some nice pre-order itemsClonePatrol wrote...
If I remember correctly, sorry don't have a link to a source, you will install Dragon Age: Awakenings to your PS3 hard drive, then you put you Dragon Age: Origins disk back in to launch the game and run the core files. Assuming this is correct you will need to switch disks all of once, I am not entirely positive though, You might wish to ask an actual dev or tester or something, they are on the forums and one might be kind enough to answer if asked directly. The bold type ones listed at the bottom of this page under "Moderators" would know. Also you cold email BioWare game support directly (link also at the bottom, under "Help").
If you do have to switch discs I would suggest downloading it I understand it is a nuisance waiting for the download, but with a physical disability it will probably be harder and more annoying to switch discs than wait for the download
Hope that helped
