Also some sort of Human Commoner would be nice. Just to have some more variety in being a Human Rogue or Warrior. As you can, obviously, only be noble right now.

After completing Dragon Age with the ending in which Morrigan saves the PC's life via blood magic, it occurred to me that playing her child, who has the spirit of the archdemon or old god or something would make a very interesting origin in the next game. What does everyone else think about this?
That would sound a bit like the Baldur's Gate series.. the whole idea of you being a Bhaal spawn or whatever...

That would be amazing.Haasth wrote...
Possibilities for Origins could be endless, but I'd really like to see: Mage Apostate and Dalish Keeper. I actually initially thought - after seeing some videos about how scary the Harrowing would be - that you could run away and become an apostate instead of going through it... But well, you can't.
Also some sort of Human Commoner would be nice. Just to have some more variety in being a Human Rogue or Warrior. As you can, obviously, only be noble right now.
But wasn't the possibility of added origins shot down?
edit: oops. Totally misread this entire topic and your post lols

Like that's ever going to happen.
I like the apostate mage idea, also human commoner seems an obvious absense. Or how about human 'middle class'. I wonder whether the next game will have origin stories, though. Isn't that rather the point about Dragon Age Origins, after all? Perhaps they will simply release new origin stories in the form of DLC's for DAO?

I hope they do keep the "Origins" angle in the sequels, though. It would seem curiously absent.

The only reason I can see them not allowing you to play as Morrigan's child is because being an old god might make you a tad too powerful. Unless Morrigan's intent is to not tell the child about its origin and allow you to go through the game unaware until the last moment where you have to rise up and use your (until that point) dormant powers to save Ferelden or whatever country we'll be in.
This idea reminds me of the Nevarine of the Morrowind game. You are in fact a reborn god but you don't know it until much later. I actually really like the idea because it explains how as the PC you are able to so all these amazing things in a relatively short time... But this is going back to the 'chosen one' story lines people seem to be getting bored of.

And yes, Human Commoner was shot down. Initially I thought it would just be boring, but once I wanted to make my own rogue... I figured one origin was just too limited. I don't want to be a noble.

Why think they'll even have origin stories in DA2? This one is called "Origins," suggesting that it's a distinctive feature of this game.
I thought they may have been being coy, and while they make you think its a unique feature being touted its actually their way of saying "Dragon Age: The Prequel"
As for the OP....as long as we aren't forced to be the God Kid I'm ok...(e.g. meaning if its an option that we can take but don't have to; its ok with me at least.)
Lots of other people like to play god kids....and grey wardens.. I just want my mercenary

Yeah, this that's exactly what I thought DA:O would be when I first heard of it a long time ago. I was also expecting it to be shorter since it would be a "prequel" of sorts.
Mercenary? Based on some of the jobs requests they had in the game, it almost seemed like the character was more mercenary than Grey Warden.

I will not play DAO 2 if you're AListair and Anora child ~_~
Oh, I didn't even think about that option as an origin.

i think she will take over the body of her child the same as Flemeth (may or may not of been planing),
so she will have the power of the god and command the Darkspawn.
