I don't think they handled the story of Fergus good at all IMO.
When we left Flemeth's hut in teh Korkari Wilds, we should have looked for him then. Found him or not, the quest should have progressed. Instead we play the whole game and do all this stuff and he shows up at the coronation and is like, hey man whats up.......like nothing ever happened.
Hah. So true.
I really think that it was poorly handled. I saw a lot of potential there for something diffrent from the other origins with being unsure of the fate of Fergus. It would have been nice if you could ask around a little, that would have made up for it I think. Oh well. Cant change how it is. =|
Really though. You think youd have a little more concern about your brothers whereabouts. He is your last bit of family afterall...

He appointed you to be Teyrn aslong as they are away. Now that Fergus is back, he is by birthright the Teyrn because he is the oldest son. I could be wrong but this seems plausible.
Did you just say birthright. it know to skip oldest son and it also your birthright. I think without the family sword Fergus couldn't be Teyrn. why did you think you mother ask you to get the family sword from the treasury and said it shouldn't fall to howe hands. Dont forget the Sword is the heirloom which represent the family power, just like the way i king or queen carries scepter as symbol of power. Why did you think Alistair was also hidding because h can be king even when Cailan was alive because it his birthright also.

That would be epic!casedawgz wrote...
The best way they could have handled Fergus is to have him show up during the Landsmeet. It could be like a voting standstill and Fergus kicks down the door and says "Highever stands with the Wardens. WHAT NOW, ****ES!"

I don't think people get it you are Teyrn or Teyrna of Highever at the same time warden. why do you think after the final battle and you are no more the King or queen then said Highever lands are restored to you..... in addition to the amaranthine arling that was Arl Howe's. that also why the amaranthine was giving to the grey wardens by fergus.

(To the assembled nobles, meekly) Now can I have it back please. And please remove my family name from the traitors list.
(To the Arls and Banns) Can anyone spare some troops to remove Howe's Army from my land and castle. I lost mine at Ostagar. Pretty please?
To the Warden: Please tell me you didn't sell or lose the family sword. Can I have it back? Please?
Somehow, not so epic.
But my HN loved Fergus and I do believe some word of his status should have been given to the HN player prior to the Landsmeet. Bann Teagan could have easily said, "Sorry about your brother, I heard he died at Ostagar".
And yes, responding to the OP, I hope some word of the goings-on at Highever will be referenced in Awakenings for a HN

if you talk to arl howe when eamon calls for the landsmeet one of the options (the bloodrights one) it mentions that they were stripped of their rights and lands as being traitors. So even if Fergus showed up at the landsmeet, loghain could just say he was a traitor
Loghain can't strip them of their rights and lands. here is a house that help calenhad, the silver knight who united all of Fereldon almost four centuries ago just to strip of all right by a commoner who is made noble.

Loghain is still a noble and he is a Teyrn. So, ya, his voice carries plenty of weight. Commoner born? Sure, but he is also a hero of Fereldan. If he says that Fergus, who comes in with no title or strong support, he could easily have him jailed and play the story of the family being a traitor, which wouldn't really shock the nobles since many noble families were traitors or Orlesian sympathizers in the war with Orlais.
Edit: However, having his voice added to yours when you were gathering support would have been great to see, but if the HN Warden wasn't there and Fergus just popped in, he would be jailed/killed fast.

Howe is made teryn of highever, and even after you kill him your land is only restored after slaying the archedemon... after all you're a wanted man/woman at the time of the landsmeet, you ahve no vote as you are not a member... Fergus prob would not have a vote either as only Bryce held 'teryn' in an official capacity and the landsmeet is a losse roganization. However Fergus strolling in unseen saying this:
"Highever stands with the Wardens. Loghain you treacherous bastard, you've almost completely destroyed the country you fought for so valiantly for not 30 years ago. You take counsel from the man who slew my parents to claim Highever as his own, you abandoned your king at Ostagar, your closest friend's son and your dauighter's husband... and now... and now you stand before the Lords and Ladies of Ferelden demanding our loyalty? Only a man as shortsided and foolish as yourself could possibly see you fit to lead this country"
then may a nod to human noble wardens... "I stand with you my dear brother/sister"
That oppurtunity is gone... I wonder how far we get to take this character in DAO? Only expansions? DAO 2? I have a feeling DAO 2 will be a new character in a new part of thedas aka the dragon age setting

Since Fergus is the new Teyrn, he will probably be present at the Landsmeet.
So im pretty confident Fergus will be in Awakening.

I don't think we'll see him in Awakening because that meeting where they swear loyalty to you i'm guessing is in Amaranthine, Fergus would be in Highever & he doesn't have to swear loyalty to you
Yup.
If the lords are coming to swear loyalty to us, we are the Lord of Amarinthene, which makes us an Arl, which means we will see various Banns come to swear their loyalty to us, not Teryns or other Arls. Amusingly enough, for a HN, at the beginning of Awakening, we will be in the exact position Howe was at the start of the HN Origin ( Lord of Amarinthene ), and Fergus will be our Teryn.
