I recently got the Berserker talent Berserk last night, but it keeps turning itself off for no reason unlike any other activated mode I have. Things like Momentum, Threaten, etc all stay on until I run out of stamina or I cancel them myself, but Berserk just keeps turning itself off randomly. It always happens when combat ends, and other times it even happens before that or just shuts off randomly if I activate it while not in combat.
I can't find anything that says why and when it will deactive, I was under the impression that all activated modes worked the same and remained on until you were drained of stamina or deactivated them.
It is pretty annoying that it turns it self off all the time, I sorta wish I hadn't picked Berserker now since half the time my one class ability is on cooldown because it just turned itself off for no reason.
Is Berserk supposed to keep turning itself off?

Berserk drains your stamina, and when you don't have enough anymore it deactivates.

As I said in my post, it turns off when I still have stamina left unlike any of the other activated modes I've used. It just turns off for no reason.

is it turning off when you control the character or are you switching to another one and then going back to your main to find its off? if your tactics arnt setup right switching to another character the ai will use the tactic set for your character and turn off things like berserk ect.

It turns off after combat has ended. As long as you're still in combat it should stay on.

Just a thought, but have you checked your tactics screen to see if there are any conflicts? Try setting him to a custom slot that doesn't have any entries and see if that keeps happening

I have it set to turn on on tactics, but it turns off by itself even when I never switch characters.
Kuhbr2 do you know if it is supposed to do this? every other mode I have stays on even out of combat, it is kind of annoying how it turns off after I kill something and then triggers its 30 second cooldown.
Basically what I'm wondering is, is this the intended way that Berserk just works unlike any other activated mode, or should it work like the others?
If this is how it works then it is pretty annoying but at least I'll know to only activate it for battles that will last long enough for it to be worth using, if it isn't then is there anyone else who has used berserk and it works the way all other modes do?

Berserk doesn't drain stamina, it simply enforces an upkeep much like every other sustained ability. It's most definitely a bug, as opening and closing any game windows or saving will deactivate it instantly. The only bypass I have for it right now is to create a macro/battle tactic to activate berserk every time I see an enemy. Still, very annoying and very inconvenient and in need of patching ASAP.

Thanks, this is what I was assuming as well, I didn't think it was supposed to work like this. It is very annoying when it turns off for no reason, but I guess I just have to live with it.
Funny part is I started playing my warrior instead of my rogue because of the dagger bug, but now I'm thinking about going back to the rogue because of this bug lol

12 months later and i am still experiencing this myself in witch hunt. Isn't there somewhere we can report this to effectively since it's pretty obvious a forum post is not helping the matter.

This keeps happening to my (main) character as well. Playing PC version without any combat tactics activated for my main. I think it has something to do with transition from combat mode to peace and back. I ended up activating zerg only after combat starts, works life a charm. Bit of a hazzle of course.

Berserk always deactivates when going to non-combat situations, as mentioned earlier. I never thought of it as a bug, just an implementation that is different than other activated abilities. I think the behaviour is so obviously different, just a single use of it would show anyone the way it works, that it must be the way it was meant to be. It's annoying, sure, but Bio would have to confirm/deny it as a glitch; I doubt any more patches are going to be coming along if it was confirmed as a bug, though, so workaround it as you can.

If its a party member, I just use a tactic line for them to activate it. If it was my pc, I can see how it would be annoying to keep activating berserk every fight. It was annoying enough for my mage to activate and deactivate blood magic everytime I wanted to use blood wound. I just used a hotkey for blood magic and sucked it up.
According to the "lore" concerning berserkers, they are supposed to maintain their rage until the last enemy has fallen, and so I can see if this was how berserk was intended to work, annoying or not.

I'm late to the party and all, but uh... you know, if you read the talent description for Berserk, it'd have told you why it keeps shutting off. Sometimes the literal bare minimum of personal investigation can save you from needing to make a thread. That is all! You're welcome.

What gets me about this ability is how it deactivates automatically after every battle even when you have more then sufficient stamina left to maintain it. The ability doesn't cool down fast enough so that I can reactivated it before I wander into another battle and that is just annoying.
