Hey there! Does anyone know about how many trips through the mass relays you can make after you pick up the Reaper Iff  before triggering the Collector invasion of the Normandy?  I've heard only 1, but have also seen in some faqs that you may be able to do more than that. I was just ready to wrap up my game and was trying to find out if there was time to purchase some upgrades after Legion's loyalty mission. any help with this would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help someone can give.

If you do Legions mission, the next time you open the map it will load that scene. If you sold him, just do other loyal missions and N7 missions.

from what i have experienced u only have enough time for one more mission before your ships gets invaded, so buy all ur upgrades before getting the iff

If you have other loyalty missions active in your journal at the time of getting the IFF you have time to do one of them, plus Legion's mission.

I found that if you talk to Legion right after you get him, and he gives you the loyalty mission, it buys you a little time to gather resources, shop, etc before actually doing his loyalty mission. Once your crew gets abducted, it's time to do the final mission if you want to save EVERYone. Kelly dies if you do like 1 or 2 only, after your crew is abducted.

Yeah, I just did Legions mission. A friend did a couple missions and more crewmates died at the collector base, including Kelly.

One thing that I've found is that if you don't talk to some of the squad and accept their loyalty mission, the abduction sequence won't happen. I had about three characters that I hadn't spoken to and did IFF and Legions mission and couldn't get it to trigger. I had to go around and talk to them before anything happened.

After completing the Reaper IFF mission, my goal is to complete both Tali's and Legion's loyalty missions (I would like to bring Legion on Tali's loyalty mission) AND be able to purchase upgrades with credits earned from these missions prior to the crew abductions. Is this possible?

Thanks for the response, but can you please clarify (i.e. is it just trying to make purchases that triggers the abductions)? Have you tested and confirmed this?

You "will" lose your crew if you do that. If you want your crew and Kelly back, do everyones loyalty missions and get upgrades "before" you go get the Reaper IFF (and Legion).  Then activate Legion and do his loyalty mission and you can then go straight to the collector base after the crew is taken, and get them all back.

I think you get as many mission chances as you have unfinished loyalty missions. For example, I was given two missions during one playthrough, when I had Tali and Legion's loyalty missions left after the IFF mission. When I only had to do Legion's mission on another playthrough, I could only do one.

I'm guessing that if you had five unfinished loyalty missions left to do after the IFF mission, you could go to five places.

You get 1 mission after the crew is taken, if you do 2 or more before you go hit the Collectors, your crew gets turned to Reaper goo, and Kelly right in front of you.

From what I have read (I have not personally tested), you can do both Tali's and Legion's loyalty quests if you follow these steps (posted by GenericPlayer on the Steam forums):

GenericPayer wrote...

Ok I have saved everyone, recruited everyone and gotten everyone loyal countless times.

1. Do all the sidequests, recruiting and loyalty quests before the IFF, except for Tali's loyalty quest. I suggest skipping Tali's Loyalty quest for reasons to become clear later.

2. Do the IFF mission - activate legion. At this point I suggest you talk to him about upgrades as it will be your last chance for a while. His upgrade is a Widow SR that only he can use (or Shep if you picked that weapon on the collector ship).

3. Do Tali's loyalty quest - take legion with you for some interesting encounters - Legion is good at killing synthetics like Geth as well.

4. After Tali's quest is over, talk to legion before you do anything else (don't click on galaxy map!) and you will receive his loyalty quest.

5. Do Legion's Loyalty Quest - Resolve the Legion/Tali dispute that comes up if both are loyal.

6. Go click on Galaxy map - crew will get abducted.

7. Head for the O-4 relay.

If you want to have sex with Tali (ewww) make sure you talk to her immediately after the trial to trigger the dialogue - else you wont have time to build a relationship before the O-4 relay.

Based on this, my questions is: will attempting to purchase upgrades with credits acquired from those loyalty missions trigger the abductions?  It appears clicking on the galaxy map will trigger them after Legion's mission is completed, but can you make purchases after Tali's loyalty misson and prior to Legion's?

In my experience, you can do at least two missions before the abduction, but it will immediately trigger after doing Legion's. So if you have Legion's and Tali's left, but you do Legion's first, you're SOL.

I think the game counts landing at hubs as 'time passed', as if it were a mission. You can mine to your heart's content, but no shopping.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I'm not too sure I've only done Tali's and Legions loyalty after getting the IFF. I think it allows you to do Legion's Loyalty mission+1 other loyalty mission. But doing Legion's loyalty mission triggers it the next time you open the map. I just finished a playthrough where after the IFF mission I only had Legion's loyalty mission to do. I did two side quests, Packages for Ish and a N7 mission and then Legion's and it triggered. Hope that helps.

Anything other than in system mining, transitions or Legion loyalty is considered "doing something" and steps the timer.

You're given a chance to do loyalty, but Legion's activation is literally the end timer.

Okay, thank you all for the replies. It looks like I have to take the credits earned from these 2 loyalty missions out of my plans for acquiring all upgrades if I want to save all "save-able" crew members.

You don't need "All" the upgrades that are possible to buy ( like weapon damage, biotic damgage etc. etc. )  to save your entire squad and crew, you just need all of the ship upgrades completed.

When I first read that about getting all the upgrades, I thought the same thing as you did.... I was even faced with the same dilema on my first play through.  I had no choice but to leave a few upgrades out there and everything still turned out just fine.

Good luck.

Take care.

Okay, so I finished the game and here are a few things I was able to learn and/or confirm. First, I was able to do every mission (loyalty, N7, etc.) except for Tali's loyalty mission (so I could bring Legion along for the special dialogue) prior to the Reaper IFF mission and still save all "save-able" crew members (following the steps I previously posted that GenericPlayer had outlined). In addition, I was able to make purchases (i.e. I could travel to any main city as many times as I wanted to make purchases) after both the reaper IFF mission and Tali's loyalty mission. Once I completed Legion's loyalty mission, the IFF was ready for installation, then Shepard departs in the shuttle with the squad, and the Collector's attack the ship. At this point, I had every loyalty and side mission completed so I went straight to the Omega 4 relay to finish the game.

One thing that I learned was you could continue to do missions after completing the game which also means you can make purchases after you finish the main storyline. Had I known this, I would have simply gone back and made the upgrade purchases upon finishing the main storyline as I had already purchased/obtained all armor and max upgrades relevant for Vanguard. I simply wanted to buy "all" upgrades because my OCD compels me to think it is a must. :)

In the end, I am quite happy that I was able to hit all of my OCD goals in a single/initial playthrough: all Xbox 360 achievements playing Vanguard on Insanity with a level 60 ME1 "rich" import, hit level 30, romance with Miranda (hope they bring her back as a squad mate in ME3), full Paragon bar, purchased all upgrades, saved all squad and crew members, and didn't use a medi-gel or any heavy weapons ammo the entire game. :)

In spite of a few bugs here and there, ME2 was an insanely fun and well done game. I can't wait for ME3. :)

that is false, i cant recall the order of my actions but, im preety sure you can push 3 mission after R-IFF, 2 after IFF and 1 after abductions or the other way arround. I do this every time as Para/Reneg, and i save my entire crew all the time. The only person that melts is that girl who was talking to Ash on horizon Lilith if my memory serves me right.
