As simple as that.
I think that ME2 could have had some more push in your past if your bio info talked about what you discovered from ME1, like Sole Survivor's info, mentioning that during your mission against Saren, you discover that a terrorist pro-human organization called Cerberus was actually behind that attack, or that you discover that your all gang back in Earth had become kinda big.
If that info was refreshed for ME3, it would allow new players to know what's going on and at the same time let old players to have more role-play options in your convos.

I still have no idea what's going on. All I know about Earthborn is "Gangs yeah and The Reds booya!". Probably haven't done enough research, cuz I just found out recently that Ruthless meant you sent your squad in to be killed even though it doesn't actually say that when you choose it all it says is "you get the job done" so when I found out about that bunker situation I was a bit surprised. Do the ME books elaborate or something?
