Like I said before Dreadnoughts are named after Mountains! Like SSV Everest and SSV Kilimanjaro. So if by some stroke of idiocy you do get a Dreadnought, it will not be called Normandy.

I liked it too, but I realize that it wont be able to stand up against a reaper. Also I never said that we'd get rid of it.

I see where you are coming from with the idea, but this begs the question. Where do you envision Shepard being in the final battle? Commanding the entire fleet( a major departure from ME1&2) or doing the same commando stuff that both games are known for?
I just don't see Shepard's last stand happening from the bridge of a capital ship. I do see him/her developing some kind of base of operations to work off of(think crossroad keep from Neverwinter nights 2) maybe a dreadnought could be part of that.
Candidly though, the Citadel fleet has no chance in a direct action butting match with the reapers. Soveriegn is twice the size of Alliance Dreadnoughts. While size isn't everything, size+numbers+superior tech equals Citadel Space junkyard.
my 2 cents

Well I'd say play "Sins of a Solar Empire" there you can build a bunch of Dreadnoughts but Mass Effect is commando style warfare all spacebattle you'll get is in a cut scenes.
Oh and not all ships in citadel space will be able to win agains the reaper flotilla it's up to Shep to find the off switch ;-)

Yeah because who cares about the established lore ... changing the overheat system was enough. And what's the point of having massive ship? Me haz a big gunz ...
This idea makes the whole universe feel like one facepalm is just not enough

What makes you think that the strategy to win in me3 will involve going to toe to toe with reapers at all? I mean sure maybe if ME3 turns into a RTS game where it becomes a balance of using different units strengths against enemy unit weaknesses (command and conquer for example). But really, look at all of those science fiction alien invasion movies out there. Victory was achieved through some way that required subtlety, finesse, and human ingenuity - not brute strength.
And that's been the case for the entire ME franchise. Whenever Shepard met an enemy that was physically larger or seemingly impossible to take down he/she always found an unconventional means of doing so: Thorian, Virmire, Soverign, baby reaper, and the collector base.
If brute strength was the only way to win then there would be no way in hell I'd of destroyed the collector base.

I think I should state that even dread guns don't work against the reaper. The weapons we were using were a prototype version of the reaper weapon. Improve the mass effect core so it can give the weapons more energy. Also wars are not won by the biggest baddest ship. Remember this is space and you have three axis control. Which gives you more opprotunity to kick some serious butt. I think they should improve on the current ship. Maybe give it a bar (Please god give us a freaking bar) and another engine room for another core. This would give us a dedicated power source for out weapons and the engines get their own. This would help in getting the reaper ship. But what I want to see is more Carrier type ships! Think of it a few thousand fighters with the same weapons we had throwing down. It could really pack a punch! Dreads/battleships are a dead style of combat and its only a matter of time before the ME universe realizes it.
