First Femshep and Other Stuff

Who can femshep romance? I was a bit surpised to see the same flirtatious dialoge with Yoman Kelly. I guess that's okay since I always want her to feed the fish and I suppose I have to have dinner with her for that.
I have yet to die in the suicide mission. I was wondering, what is it that causes Shepperd to die in the end.
I always lose at least one squad member in the suicide mission. Is there a way to keep all of them alive?
I'm not going to go back and play ME1 for a new import so I was wondering, is the story hard-coded so that the alien council has died in the beginning?
Thanks.

Garrus, Thane, & Jacob.... listed in my personal favorite order.CraigHB wrote...

FemShep can have her choice of one Garrus, Jacob, or Thane. Again, it's better to have your ME import (I'd take a moody-Kaidan "maybe" over those any day).

You can cause Shepard to die by killing every single other party member; there's nobody left to pull you back onto the ship but Joker, and his arms can't hold you.
It's totally possible to keep everyone alive; do all of their loyalty missions, get the armor/shields/gun upgrades for the ship (personal upgrades like Mordin's Omni-tool and Jack's biotic damage increase also pad the odds in your favor, but they're not necessary). Assign everyone to the correct jobs (Garrus/Miranda/Jacob for team leaders, Jack/Samara for barrier, Mordin for escort) and leave the strong people like Grunt, Zaeed, and Garrus to hold the line, taking squishier people like Tali or Legion with you for the final battle. If you've done everything else, you can pretty much take whoever you want to the human reaper, but that gets you the highest odds of success.
As for ME1, yep, you can't change anything. Wrex is dead, the rachni is dead, the Council is dead...default Shepard is either very lazy or very bad at being a hero. Wrex was the sticking point for me; I replayed ME1 in 11 hours, one sitting, to do my opposite-gender playthrough so my bro would be alive. If you're playing on PC, there are sites that you can download ME1 saves from or I believe you can use a save editor to change what happened.

So, I'm finally playing my first femshep on my third playthrough. I was a bit hesitant to play as a woman, not that I have anything against women as superheros, but since I am a man, I like playing as one. Anyway, I've been pleasntly surpirsed. The voice actor that does femshep is really, really good and I'm totally enjoying the character. Plus, with a little bit of tweaking in the customization section, my femshep is really good looking and it's enjoyable just to see her in action.

I much prefer FemShep's voice acting to ManShep's.
FemShep can romance Garrus, Thane, & Jacob. Well, and Kelly, but she's not a proper romance.
Shepard dies at the end if there are no team members to help him/her up when he/she jumps for the Normandy. If you lose your final squad (if they're not loyal), & you also lose the rest of the team, Shepard plummets to his/her doom rather than risk Joker's life.
There is a very easy way to keep the whole team alive: Do the loyalty missions & make the correct choices during the suicide mission! Also make sure you have the three main ship upgrades (Guns via Garrus, Armour via Jacob, Shields via Tali) as someone will die for each one you do not have, plus get the character specific tech/weapon upgrades (Mordin's Omni-Tool, Jack's Biotic Amp, Legion's sniper rifle, Grunt's shotgun).
Quick version: Loyal Legion/Tali as Tech Specialist in the vents; Loyal Garrus/Miranda/Jacob as the 2nd Fireteam leader (both times); Loyal Jack/Samara/Morinth as the Biotic Specialist for the biotic shield; Loyal team member for the Crew Escort (preferably Mordin as he has the highest chance of dying if left to Hold.The.Line); Loyal final 2 squadmates for the boss battle; leave your best defenders to Hold.The.Line & defend the door (Garrus, Grunt, Zaaed).

My first playthrough was with an ME1 import. My second playthrough was a new game with no import, only because the game does not allow you to fully modify the character with either an ME1 or ME2 import (lame).tehprincessJ wrote...
You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't import from ME1. Half the game is missing.
I would have to disagree with that statement. There are *some* elements missing, but certainly nothing that has any real impact on the main plot, at least as far as I've found. That would make sense to me anyway. Why would Bioware penalize someone by excluding major content because one didn't import from ME1. If it was possible to fully modify a character after an import the point might stand, but I don't see it as is. Though I could be wrong about that.
Thanks for the posts so far everyone.

The only thing so far that I've really missed without the import is that Wrex is dead. There's a few little things, like no Conrad and no Fisk and some other minor character cameos, but nothing major. I didn't notice any real dialog change with Liara and I romanced her in ME1. But, that may have been the default for non-import game.

www.masseffectsaves.com will help you getting saves without having to replay. Only unfortunate thing is people with the 'best' saves name their characters something retarded.

I really have no interest in playing ME1 again. Although it's highly debatable, I think ME2 is way better game, much more polished and combat is a lot more fun. I really like the cover system, although some don't care for it much.
