"Rage is a hell of an anesthetic."

This is a thread dedicated to Zaeed Massani and support for him to be brought back in Mass Effect 3.
Zaeed is played by Robin Sachs, and like alot of the characters in Mass Effect 2, Zaeed's appearance is roughly based on the actor :)
Image IPB
Robin Sachs used to play a character  in the show Buffy the vampire slayer.

JRCHOharry posted this picture saying he believed Zaeed's appearance was modelled after this man

His face does have alot of similarities. Which do you think looks more like Zaeed?

Now, alot of people seem to not like Zaeed and I am not sure why. My guess it has something to with him not having a dialogue wheel, and I agree it is a shame because Zaeed has some of the best dialogue in the game, and it is especially interesting when you get to converse with him on his loyalty mission. Another reason I can guess why people hate him is perhaps because they play *cough* sissy *cough* paragon path and don't like the way Zaeed acts on his mission. :P

I played renegade my first time through so that could be why he never bothered me, however all in all he is an awesome character. Even afterwards when I played paragon, I simply used my charm dialogue option told him to smarten up and get over it and he was fine.

I don't think I have ever not brought him with me on a mission and he tends to have alot to say most of the time, which is great and it helps you in getting to know him a little better, what with the lack of a dialogue wheel and all. Alot of people seem to think he is a heartless bastard, which isn't really true. Like joker puts it "He's like Shepard but he takes cheques" Zaeed is basically a renegade Shepard, and he does have limits. He makes a note during jacks loyalty mission that he had done some bad stuff, but hurting/experimenting/torturing kids really bothered him.

After I got the game I showed a friend the Zaeed trailer, and the only thing he said was "Freaking Badass!" Because that is exactly what Zaeed is. His backstory, I find is also one of the most interesting of all the characters you recruit. Before you do his loyalty mission you likely have met the three most dominant merc groups in the terminus system. (especially if you did the archangel mission) So when you come to learn that he founded the blue suns twenty years ago its like "whoa" Another point about his character would be when he tells you when Vido betrayed him, it was right around when Vido was hiring batarians, Zaeed didn't agree with this sinc ehe felt most batarians were 'bloody terrorists' This shows the Blue Suns likely wouldn't have become so corrupt is Zaeed had continued to run it.

Possibilities for Zaeed in ME3

If Zaeed were to come back, it would be cool if he came back as an official character with a dialogue wheel this time. It would be nice to learn more about him and some of the other things he's been involved in. He's a pretty huge merc, so its likely he's been involved in alot of noteworthy events.

Also mission wise it would be cool if you had to help him put a big dent in the blue suns or wipe them out entirely.

If he came back as a non squad member I could see them making it that he took over the blue suns, and set them right or something. Anyone else have any other ideas?

Reasons why some people hate Zaeed

they think Shepard is the hub of the universe, and Zaeed seems to be unaware of this. He just does his job, and does not require babysitting.

Also they have nothing to say to him. Nothing that Zaeed would be interested to hear. And that annoyes them greatly, to the point of total frustration.

Also Zaeed is the only person before entering whose quarters Shepard has to knock at the door.

When Zaeed came aboard the Normandy, and started to settle in in the starboard cargo bay, he saw a strange round-shaped thing on the table. A note was attached to it:

Hi, Zaeed! Welcome aboard! It's nice to have you on our happy space journey! Enjoy your new Dialogue Wheel! Image IPBya, Kelly.

He didn't undertstand sh*t, shoved the round-shaped thing into the trash compactor and hit "Eject". Then he carefully put Jessie on the table.

Here's a youtube vid of most of Zaeed's Anecdotes. I am not sure if it has all of them.

I really do hope they bring Zaeed back for Mass Effect 3, he is my favorite of the whole team.

I'd like to speculate on the character of Zaeed, and why I believe he has the type of personality to come back for the final confontation.
As we all already agree one, Zaeed does not come off as the type of person to just take his paycheck and run, even though this has been his way of making a living for the past 20 years. We can also agree that the Illusive Man has paided him enough credits to live a comfortable life wherever he pleases, never having to take up another contract again: this is of course not how Zaeed would end his career. Through the dialogue we did get to have with Zaeed we come to learn that he's more then just some heartless killer out to make a quick buck, while screwing over everyone he meets...that infact is Vido's personality, which is why him and Zaeed did not work out as business partners. We also learn on his loyalty mission and throughout all his on-ship dialogue that he thrives in combat, and doesn't shy away from the impossible. This of course is stuff we all already accept.

When you go to Illium with Zaeed and spark the dialogue option while standing infront of the security office, he speaks about how he gets his contracts, and the way in which he cares for his mission. This to me speaks of an individual who takes pride in his work so much so that he reflects on what the job is about, and then determines in based on his own personal ethics. That's kind of why I like Zaeed so much - he's the type of person to do whats right, not because it's the law, but because he believes in it...essentially there are lines he wont cross because he knows just how sinister the motives are.
That said, I feel as though Zaeed will return because of his reactions while on the collector ships: there is a real sense of enlightenment and rage. Zaeed know's the score now, he knows the threat, and he knows how godam imperative it is that these monsters get taken down before they get the chance to do more horrid things. The upcoming battle is what Zaeed was made for; it's what he has been working towards all his life and never knew it. In the end, I just have a hard time believing that Zaeed is the type of person to just walk away now that his contract was fulfilled. I DO believe that he is the type of person who realizes that if the reapers aren't stopped then he wont be able to use the money he's made from Cerberus - and that my friends is not good business.

OK, OP.

Loved to see the pic of Zaeed's voice actor. Looks like a cool guy.

Keep hooking up links (threads, polls), pics and quotes into the topic, and pray twice a day Stanley Woo doesn't lock it.

I also advise you to edit your latest post in the old thread to provide a link to this one.

I doubt Zaeed will be in ME3 as a squadmate. At most he'll just have a small cameo dependant on if you had him in ME2 or not is my thought.

What makes you doubt that? He is the easiest character to get transfered exactly as a squadmate.

My first playthrough I didn't bring Zaeed with me at all. All my playthroughs since then I've brought him almost everywhere.

I vote for everyone to return. But most of all I vote for Zaeed.

No reason to explain why, I'll just take out the trash instead.

I've had my doubts about him coming back in ME3 but you make a good point.  He would be the easiest. It gives me hope.

Every other character requires as much Shepard's babysitting of them in-game as BioWare's writers' work on their "character development" in- ... well, in development.

Zaeed needs neither. Spicy stories and on-mission comments are not that difficult. Hell, being a miserable amateur, I come up with one every coffee-break... Image IPB

Zaeed is one of those characters that grows on you. At first he can be off putting being different and all but take him with you on missions and visit him down in the cargo regularly and you begin to smell his badassness.

Yes most of peoples problems with Zaeed come from the fact that he has no dialogue wheel. My hopes is that if enough people post in this thread Bioware devs may see that Zaeed isn't really hated. I would die inside if there was no mention of Zaeed at all in ME3.

I think most people are put off by Zaeed's loyalty mission(where he does act like a bit of an ass), but if you bother to take him with you on missions he's probably the most interesting character of the bunch. He is also the only character i can really take seriously, all the rest just are not believable as actual people to me.

How about including my explanation of why Zaeed is short of dialogue wheel in the Topic post? So that more people can see that it's just another example of Zaeed's total badassery.

Zaeed is one of my favorite characters and I'd like him to return for ME3. He's DLC so his chances sadly are not quite as strong as other characters.

I would have liked if Zaeed had his own recruitment mission and dialogue wheel conversations to begin with.

I'm flattered to be quoted, but more importantly I'm glad to contribute: Zaeed fits ME perfectly, he is the ultimate badass hardman and also a fantastically designed and acted character. Why is he a DLC character? Because BW wanted to punish anyone not on the Cerberus Network, that's why!

I'm with you all the way. More Zaeed.

I also personally feel Zaeed is one of the best party members to bring along. Out of everyone I bring Zaeed dies the least, he has a great combo of sniper rifle/assault rifle, and an excellent AoE move which is great against husks.

Edit: Glad to have your support uncanny :)

Also in his trailer Zaeed is seen using the Revenant machinegun. But they decided that it'd make even the deadliest of other characters - Grunt and Legion - look small, and withdrew access to Revenant from Zaeed.
