[Fate Elixir]

   After playing the game through, I must say that Sten is the best character. I like how cold he is, and that you can't romance him. I also like that he will openly question your authority to lead, and has no problem being confrontational. 
Of course his best quality is that he is a viscous warrior! Anybody found anything they didn't like about him?

Viscous like molasses? I usually prefer solids for warriors...

But I really love Sten. He's tough and mean and sweet and cute all at the same time.

no, con is pointless on a 2H-er (at least in my exp). that, and your companions are defaulted to being weaker than your PC.

I can honestly say that I love all the characters in Origins. I can't really place them from favorite to least though.

I died laughing the first time I talked to him at camp. You know...asking him things about himself, why hes inside the cage and whatnot? Gosh, so great. xD

Sten is freaking awesome as a character but (in my experiance!) he isn't very good in combat. I'm sure I'm not using him to his full potential but I don't really feel like messing with his stuff to make him effective when I can just switch to Alistair or Oghren.

Its the 2h being crap thing (Is it honestly designed as a DPS tank? some of the stats on the 2h weapons and the skills themselves seem like it) aswell as Oghren just steps right over him having 2 specs.

2h is ok imo, but yep, a single spec for Sten probably makes him the least effective associate in combat.



I do like his personality and backstory though, and whilst you can't give him cookies as a gift he does seem to like something sweet that Dog can find...

While I wouldn't say Sten is the best (Zevran is, obviously ), I do love this character. His personality, his appearance, his backstory, his way of speaking, etc. I love his party banters, the one with Leliana where they establish that she was a houseguest of the Chantry never fails to make me laugh.

I don't care much about his missing specialization point, I wouldn't give him two specializations anyway. As for Sten not doing well enough in a fight - he's a great addition in my current rogue PC/Zevran/Morrigan party. Maybe Oghren would be better, maybe Alistair would, but who cares?

- Doesnt get specialization point at level 7, only at 14
- Doesnt have a specialization
- Drives you mad with his stubborness

Sten is stubborn, yes, but he doesn't drive me mad at all. I found Sten to be one of the few characters that you can actually influence (if you've got enough coercion skill) and convince that your way of doing things is preferable (and even get approval out of it, because he respects a PC with a backbone).
Unlike, for example, Alistair who drives me mad in a certain discussion (won't give details in a non-spoiler forum, but I'm talking about the one where he will complain that you didn't take route B, if you took route A and vice versa complain, that you should have taken route A, if you took route . This kind of character inconsistency drives me mad.

Sten is the man, character optimization, out the window. Love his observations, like his talk about the Chantry and the Chant. To me is the easiest charcter to get a high approval with.

Hes cool but I think that ogren is better with 2h stuff.

I was disappointed the cake wasn't a gift for him, seeing that he likes sweets and even mentions cake at the end...

Edit: I should say, you can certainly give it to him, but it's a Dog gift not a Sten gift and it SHOULD be a Sten gift.

Sten is a great character, one of my favorites. For some reason he became best friends with my Dalish rogue, my third character I played through with. I wasn't paying attention, just answering dialogue like I would as that character and wham, 100% approval!



Kind of a shock considering my goodie-two-shoes character I played through first with had a time dealing with him. But I do agree with a previous poster, he sure dies alot if you don't pair him up with the right teammates to juggle aggro.

I very rarely use Sten in combat. He dies quicker then Alistair, Shale, Oghren or even dog do. Several times I do try and use him he dies before I even trigger all the feats I have for my PC

At first I didn't like him at all, and then the more I got to know him, I liked him better. But same thing...I stopped using him in combat.
