I have the Collector's Edition for PC of ME2. I noticed when I tried to play my game offline that I got an error message for all DLCs whining about some authentication crap and of course this means none of the DLCs appear ingame if I am offline. I can't afford to be connected online for long periods of time or even on a regular basis, so I choose my SP games carefully so that at most, all I require is one of those one time online authentication when I register. I also have Steam but have to use it in offline mode for games like Left 4 dead, Modern Warfare 2 etc, because of my online difficulties.
I figured the DLC authentication messages must be something similar to the Dragon Age DLCs where after the game registers them online, I can then continue playing offline with the DLCs ingame. So I tried to run a game online as long as I could over the weekend and got over a half dozen hours over the 3 days but during this week when I tried continuing the game offline it doesn't even let me load the save game because of "missing" DLC which are sitting collecting dust installed in my hard drive.
I received a few responses from members here telling me there is pretty much nothing I can do about this and got confirmation minutes ago from an EA tech agent who simply said: You need to be online and well then you can't use the content. WTF? Why would you put in this garbage Bioware?
I know 7 or so hours means nothing but I can't play my game again without any kind of regularity and if I do it has to be without any DLCs!
You know I wasn't disappointed as much about the mechanic changes, about the cut back on skills (Although it botheres me the most of all the design changes), the customization I could care less, but this really angers me. I am seriously disappointed in you guys and will have to consider more closely purchasing future games from you guys that have similar DRM systems restricting me from playing and SP game.
I know this may not seem like a big deal to most around here. I hope you guys (Bioware/EA) can be a little more considerate of people who can't be online 24/7 and patch or tweak or whatever to make this content playable offline.
DLC online only, WTH devs? Super PO'd with the whole Cerberus Network thing

This is NOT DRM and it is NOT the normal use case.
For most players on the PC, you are able to play offline. For some users (who have multiple mac addresses on their machine - from multiple devices or otherwise) the DLC authentication for offline play is bound to the wrong mac address. Again this is not the normal use case.
We are looking into this issue. We did not design this feature to force online play. The intended behavior is that you must validate your dlc once.
Additionally, please ensure that you are playing witht the same windows account that you originally validated the dlc with.
