Have to note that some people may not have the maturity level to appreciate the game, however. Just saying.

Please that tactic only works on idiots.

You see Heavy Rain's popularity relies on the same tactics used by the tailors who sold an invisible suit to the emperor, we are told that Heavy Rain is supposed to give us a groundbreakingly mature, gritty, intelligent and cleverly constructed, branching storyline and as my good friend Twitchmonkey has pointed out anyone who disagrees with this either does not have the maturity to get the story or is an idiot.

Of course rather than look like an idiot people prefer to play along because it makes them look mature and intelligent individual to their peers when really it proves that they have a brain the size of a peanut.

Those of us that can think for ourselves however can see through the illusion and see that Heavy rain is nothing but a shallow, poorly writen pile of dribble with plot holes as big as David Cage's ego.

If you don't like it, fine. It's your opinion anyway, and you are entitled to it. But I like the game. Does that mean everyone else should like it? No. But it also doesn't mean that you can call someone a idiot because you don't like something some other likes.

Heavy Rain is an excellent game, but it's not for everyone. If you want fast-paced shooter with no replayability and 4 hrs lenght, you don't like Heavy Rain. But if you like emotional story, well written characters and something to think by yourself, you'll like Heavy Rain.

If you liked Fahrenheit (Indigo something in US), you'll love Heavy Rain.

I even bought the PS3 only because of HR. So yes, I like that "piece of dribble"...

@Knee = Is Heavy rain a long game? (hope it is) ^_^

Sadly no. There is DLC coming out soon and the game is fairly replayable (though to be honest, despite the many different endings, it's only really good for a few playthroughs at most) but the game itself only clocks in at around 8 hours. It does pack in more content than most games that last 30, however.

hmmm  only 8 hours...

oh well, but it's well written. I'm getting it  :D

8-10 hrs for ONE playthrough, but the game has some serious replayability value because of the branching storylines and tons of different endings...

Anyway, I'll stop talking about this, since it's not really ontopic...

Unless buying a game means you aren't going to be able to afford your diabetes medication this month, there really is no reason for a PS3 owner to not buy Heavy Rain. Maybe you'll love it, or maybe you'll think it's an affront to god, but the experience shouldn't leave you without having any strong views on the situation.

But... i can't enjoy the game if i'm dead... :crying:

Kidding, i will buy it :D

Thanks Twitchmonkey and Knee :wizard:

On-Topic: I was little but Mario RPG got me close to tears also (silly but true) :P

Let's see now... I might have not cried, but these games/moments did bring out the emotions.

Ending of FFX - right, while I didn't really like the game as a whole, the ending proved to be a wee bit emotional for me. It was a ...comforting end to the story, if a bit sad.

Fallout 3 - Dad! NOOOOO! :<

Fable 2 - The dog dies.

Shadow of the Colossus - This whole game is depressing, seriously.

Dragon Age Origins - Leliana's epilogue, if you had romanced her and then got yourself killed.

Vagrant Story - Sydney rescuing Hardin & co. from Guildenstern

Oh, and regarding Aeris' death, I was honestly more surprised than sad. Not to mention that I really did expect her to make a comeback at some point :P

MGS4 at the end, i was crying like a bloody girl i was ^_^ and also at the end of ME1 ME2 and DA:O it seems that bioware write such good characters and stories that i really cannot help but get attached to them, and the conclusions, it is a work of art and i proudly admit that these pices of art have moved me to tears.

I'm not manly at all... unfortunately I've never cried while playing a game. I've come close a few times. My eyes were a bit misty and had I been pushed just a little bit further, there would have been tears.

Jade Empire - The burial scene in Old Tien's Landing if you convince the former orphanage caretaker to help put the ghosts of those two children to rest. It was a moving moment for me.

Baldur's Gate 2 - At the very end of Throne of Bhaal, when the solar asks whether you want to ascend to godhood or remain a mortal. The second time I finished, I chose godhood, and the reactions from my party were so bittersweet. Imoen's in particular made me feel sad. It was obvious the party had formed a bond with you, and although you were moving on to greater things; it didn't feel like a joyous occasion since you were very unlikely to see any of them ever again in the Outer Planes.

Chrono Trigger - Crono's resurrection and the brief scene with Marle afterwards got to me for some reason. It's been so long since I played that game, I can't get any more specific.

Final Fantasy VI - Just the whole ending scene with everyone escaping from Kefka's crumbling tower and the airship flight over familiar areas afterwards. It hit home that the game was over and my time with these characters was at an end. I often feel that way when completing a truly outstanding game, but usually it's a general feeling of sadness. FF6 was the only one that almost brought me to tears.

Probably Suikoden 2 when Nanami dies while deflecting arrows to protect you and Jowy (and yes, I know you CAN save her, but there's no way you'll do it when you play the game for the 1st time unless you're using some guide or something). I mean, she's your cheerful sister and moral support who's been with you throughout the entire game and then she suddenly and unexpectedly dies and Konami handles the moment beautifully with all the emotions needed without going into the cheesy melodrama area.

Every now and then a game comes along that gets me all emotional.
I shall list some:
Metal Gear Solid 1,2,3 - These games are just full of story and drama(as well as action) that it doesn't manage to overlook sad moments. Most notably Sniper Wolf's death in MGS1, Emma's death in MGS2(she was my fav character too:() and The Boss' Death in MGS3

Fallout 3 - The backstory of that bartender ghoul(forgot her name) in Underworld. If anything showed how human ghouls can be then that conversation was it.

Mass Effect 2- Tali's loyalty mission. 'Nuff said.

Bioshock 2 - Mostly the start/intro when Delta gets separated from Eleanor and the forced suicide and a bit of the end(the music just adds to the emotional impact).

Dragon Age: Origins - When Morrigan left after I couldn't convince (that bastard) Alistair to sleep with her.(Noooooooooo, Morrigan:(. She was my favourite companion) I was almost hoping to see some hint of her in the epilogue.
The last conversations that happen between you and the companions before entering Fort Drakon is also quite a beautiful moment(and damn the music makes you feel so heroic).

Chrono Trigger.

Resurrection of Crono after playing as Marle struggling away trying to get it done.

First game to ever hold this achievement and predates FF7 by a whole lot.

EDIT: Just saw Seagloom's post. :crying:

We're mourning twins!

No, no matter how sad the story is, in the end its just not real. Only reality comes up with enough reasons to make me cry.

Can't say any game ever has.

Maybe when the writing for video games becomes consistently good.

Ya'll got me itching to fire up Chrono Trigger again for old time's sake. Easily one of the my favorites, probably #1 considering I use Janus Zeal as my character name for every evil mage I make.

Long live Magus!

No game has ever brought me to tears, a movie on the other hand has, The Passion of the Christ.

Edit: oh wait I forgot about Duncan's death, it made my eyes water a little, but I forced myself to snap out of it.

I don't think any game has made me cry, but some of them have been pretty emotional. One that makes a lot of people sad that doesn't faze me at all is Aerith's death. I just personally don't see how anyone could get attached to her.

Her purity....innocence. She's somewhat of the Jesus figure. Blameless....

The perfect example of of someone that doesn't deserve evil purpetrated upon them.

That's my take.

Alot have. But being an emotional wreck, it's not hard to move me to tears.

The closest thing recently would be ME2, I think. Not Tali's mission either, but something totally silly.

There have been a few that have moved me, not to tears, but made me feel slightly depressed.

The death of Emma in Metal Gear Solid 2 was one of those moments. Not because I liked her character, but more for Otacon's reaction in that part in the game. It was impossible not to feel sad for him during that game. This was probably the saddest part in any game for me.

Another Hideo Kojima game that moved me was Snatcher. There is a moment near the end when the main character's son is killed, and that moment hits you like a brick as well.
