My nephew, who is in 7th grade, gets to play ME2 with parental supervision (to make sure he doesn't end up seducing Kelly Chambers by accident)

7th grade!? Don't his parents think that he might have found out masturbation by then and that he might have kissed a girl?

I don't understand some parents, my parents let me watch nudity and violence since I was very little and I turned out somewhat sane (though in my country there's no ratings and stuff and everyone I know have never been forbiden by their parents to watch violence or nudity)

That's total bull****. A student can easily be pigheaded, not paying attention, and not follow directions well.

It's not a disagreement. Just read his points. He doesn't know how to play the game

Exactly I cannot play this game or any Bioware game for that matter because it is far from user friendly for anyone new to their systems and games.

people who play their games or follow things that BioWare does, will always try to bash someone new for not understanding what has not been explained.

Happens 80% of the time, every time.

I know it may seem that I am jumping to Bioware's defense, but I found Dragon Age Origins to have a fairly easy learning curve after getting past Lothering. No, this isn't me simply bragging about how good I am at games, but rather me making a valid point.

First of all, DA:O was my first (shameful I know) Bioware game I've played on the pc. The game didn't hold my hand throughout the game, nor did it insult my intelligence be constantly reminding me of my mistakes. If you've played a game for several hours, and still haven't mastered the basics, don't be afraid to ask for help or consult a guide. When I initially died in DA:O due to my lack of understanding of the controls and the games various menus, I didn't blame Bioware for designing a poor game; instead, I came to the forums asking for tips on how to properly micro-manage my characters/stats. Experimenting on a lower difficulty may help.

You may be initially frustrated or overwhelmed by a game, it happens to everybody. The key is to suck up your pride and either tone down the difficulty or ask for help if necessary; not blame the designers for being mature enough to not hold your hand after the tutorial stage.

What a complete waste of my time and money this was. I have nothing but negative things to say about this game. I am so beyond fed up with BioWares total and blatant disregard for full proper and correct instructions for anyone new to their games it's ludicrous. BioWare should not be releasing games with an unfinished tutorial system. Mass effect 2 has been a total headache and an utter nightmare for me.

This is what I have been put through with this game:
I started the game yesterday, and within the first 15 min into it, I was stuck and could not progress due to being asked to do something that is not fully and properly explained.

Problem 1:
The Dialog has a loop bug in it. you select things, and then you are brought right back to the same exact 2-4 choices every time over and over and there is no way to back otut of the dialog menus once you are in them. I was stuck in a dialog loop for over an hour trying to figure out why I kept seeing the same choices over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...you get the point. Someone watching a broadcast I was doing finally explained how to get around the dialog loop bug. patch this annoying bug!Image IPB

Problem 2:
Couldn't do Powershots, Says Hold left shift, select the powershot, left click the mouse.
Well holding left shift is what I did, then there are no power shots at all anywhere on the screen that i could find if the powershot is there, it has not been explained how to dig it out of that inventory screen.Image IPB

Problem 3:
Equiping the grenade launcher. Oonce again dummb instructions that only say hold left shift then select the grenade launcher. Sorry but holding left shift brings up an inventory screen that DID NOT HAVE THE ICON OF A GRENADE LAUNCHER IN IT, IT WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WHERE TO BE FOUND there was and is no grenade launcher to select, so this instruction fails because it is telling you to select a non-existant item. And yes I did pick up the grenade launcher so if the grenade launcher is in fact in there just like the powershot, it has not been explained how to dig it our of that screen in order to select it in order to equip it.Image IPB

Problem 3
The pull ability,
Once again hold left shift and select the PULL ability, target an enemy, then left click,
First of all there is no instructions on where the abilities are located once the left shift inventory screen has been opened, secondly you are not explained HOW TO TARGET AN ENEMY in the first place, and finally left clicking the mouse only zooms in and shoots. So this instruction epic fails due to crucial need to know things that have been with held for some demented reason. So if this ability is in fact in the left shift screen then just like the Grenade launcher equip and the power shot problem, it has not been explained how to dig it out but also what it looks like, and how to know if it's even been selectedImage IPB

Problem 4
Safes,
Something about match the icons/symbols, with nodes (Or something like that) within the time limit.

EXCUSE ME There are no icons that I can see on the safes, so I don't know wtf this is all about, and not even going to get into it.Image IPB

And these are all the major issues and problem causing things that are game stopping just within the 1st 15 min of game play alone. Once again, because of biowares total disregard for new players and explanations had no clue what to do and have been stuck for a day in the1st 15 min of the game.

I gave up and wish I could bring the game back to the store and get my money back.

I do not want help, I do not care about what the answer is or how to do it, so putting answers to questions I am not asking, is not only pointless but will not get read and or totally ignored because I'm not asking for help and I don' t want any, I uninstalled and got rid of this garbage.

I am simply giving my feedback on how bad of an experience this game was for meImage IPB

I get such a kick out of people who think their opinion is so important it deserves it's own thread.

So what everyone here is saying is that they all have no problems with it so screw someone who does.

Instead of people doing nothing but poking fun at people, which is totally productive (Sarcasm) You are all doing nothing but talking about it, if the instruction is that simple then why hasn't anyone explained how to access the grenade launcher from the left shift screen then?

So lets try this and see how far it gets for all you poking fun at me or anyone else new?

After you pick up the grenade launcher, you press and hold left shift, there is no grenade launcher icon anywhere to be found, all i see is my pistol. I cannot select something that is not on the screen and there is no way to get it on the screen if it's even there because there are no instructions on how to get it to show up, and there is nothing to figure out, you are being asked to select a non-existant icon with no instruction on where that icon is or how to get it to show up.

instead of talking explain how to get it to show up then.

It's a simple question, for what people are saying is so easy. Well ok then, if it's that easy then someone should have no problems explaining how to get the grenade launcher icon to show up after left shift is held.

And for something supposedly so easy why is it taking up this forum space with a how to question?

And for people who keep saying i said there is no such thing as a bad student, why don't you try reading what i actually wrote instead of making things up and going off of what other people changed that sentence I said into.

because i ddin't say there is no such thing as a bad student, what i said was IF A STUDENT IS DOING NOTHING BUT WHAT THE TEACHER SAYS WITHOUT BEING ARROGANT AND DOING WHAT THEY ARE TOLD AND FOLLOWING THE RULES LAID OUT, THEN IT'S NOT THE STUDENTS FAULT AND THAT IS NOT A BAD STUDENT.

A Student can be bad, and I never said there was no such thing I said a PROPER STUDENT

So please learn to read properly

Having a low IQ=/=ME2 being a bad gameAs true quote you might want to learn this:

DarthCaine,
Before you or anyone else decide to try and go blame denial, and try to stick up for who caused this mess You might want to learn and live by this more than true statement:

There is no such thing as a bad student when it comes to learning, only bad teachers, a proper student does what teacher says, and if student does what teacher says, and then it doesn't work, or it's not understandable, then you cannot blame the student. The student is just doing exactly what was told to them. You can only blame the teacher, for either teaching incorrectly, and or not explaining anything properly so the student can get and or actually do it.

I have not even read the rest of this thread because I have to comment.  As a teacher I can tell you that this "more than true" statement is total bull****!  "A proper student does what teacher says?"  Seriously?  So teachers tell the students to be lazy in class?  Teachers tell students NOT to take notes and NOT to study?  Teachers tell students to go home and NOT do their homework?

Are teachers perfect?  By no means.  We make mistakes.  However, if you think that 100% of the blame belongs to the teacher you are an idiot.  Students are to blame.  Parents who don't care about their childrens schooling are to blame.

Usually I am very calm and polite on these forums and I apologize to everyone else for going totally off the subject with this post, but ZeroMystic...you, sir, are an idiot.

You should have started the thread by asking for help rather complaining how bad the game is

Have you even tried holding the mouse over the pistol icon?
Even if you couldn't figure that out, just spin the mouse wheel to change your weapon (it's the same in every shooter game, how hard could it be?)

Under options there's controls, start by reading those

I completely agree with you and you should read my first post on this thread, I adressed this exact subject.  Students who blame their teachers for being incompetent need to take responsibility for their own learning.

Say what you want about the PS3, but Demons Souls is amazing.

OP - have you made sure you even acquired the Grenade Launcher first?

im pretty sure it is i am not knocking it because i have yet to play demon souls. when i diss on the ps3 im only refering to its one shot exclusives that being basicly god of war 3 since both final fantasy and metal gear will go multi console. ps3's a sweet machine but the fanboys are what ****** me off. its been 4 years and we still get ps3 is better that w/e threads

I did say that and I meant it at the time I said it, however if people want to throw around ludicrous false information and start forcing how they do things onto others and saying it's my fault BioWare cannot write instructions and basically forcing this conversation out, I'm not going to sit back and be trashed.

The question abouot why i said instead of people doing nothing but talking and PROVE it is simply because that is exactly what everyone is doing, nothing but talking out their ass. wihtout any form of backed up proof. I honestly do not care about the grenade launcher I am more interested in seeing how long people wnat to continue talking all this nonsense instead of actually proving and backing up what they are saying.

And for the record if I did not pick up the grenade launcher, I wouldn't be seeing the message on the screen to equip it. So you can doubt anything you want but I obviously did pick it up if I didn't then how would I know what the instructions in the game said?

So again you pick it up then you are told to hold left shift, yeah when you do an inventory menu shows up, there is only the icon of my pistol with how much ammo is in it, some empty squares and some other icons that I have no idea what they are or what they represent.

Anyway there is no grenade launcher icon anywhere in any of thoe boxes. So again I ask people instead of saying the grenade launcher is there which is clearly is not otherwise there would be an icon for it which there is not. Then explain where it is, and or how to access it.

As I said i really don't care if people say it's there when you hold left shift, there is no such icon so it's impossible to select it.

So what people are saying is contradicting what is in the game itself.

I reallyw ish i had not uninstalled it because I would screen shot and post it PROVING I picked up the grenade launcher but when you hold left shift, there is nothing but my pistol there with no grenade launcher.

That would end this debate about what people say is there, is really not.

My post was more of a general statement; didn't mean to direct it towards anyone in specific. Besides, as a owner of all three consoles (yes, even the Wii; although it's been collecting dust since SSB:B) I do agree that fanboys who prefer a specific console over another are truly...well, idiots.

I completely agree with you and you should read my first post on this thread, I adressed this exact subject.  Students who blame their teachers for being incompetent need to take responsibility for their own learning.

After I posted, I did read yours.  I was glad to see I wasn't the first to point out the ridiculousness of that statement.

I also love how Zeromystic says he wants help after clearly stating in his OP that he does not want anyone to say anything or offer any help because the game is so awful.

Mass Effect 1 was my first Bioware game I had ever played...by the time I got off Eden Prime I had dialog, combat, weapon swapping, power using all understood...and if I remember right, the first ME1 really did not have a tutorial.  This thread has only helped to reinforce my hope that Bioware creates ME3 solely for those of us who played the first 2 and want to reward us.  No restarts, no loyalty missions...just start to finish action and story to reward players of the first to MEs.  If you haven't played ME1...then maybe you shouldn't have bought ME2.  If you haven't played ME1 & 2...then maybe you shouldn't play ME3.

Ok, I am done with this douchebaggery.  Good night all!

ZeroMystic, if you can see the grenade launcher on you back then you have it.

Are you pulling up the right wheel? The weapons wheel not the power wheel.

Hoover your mouse pointer on pistol and it will show additional weapons u have. Then just click one you want and let go the shift key.
While holding shift you can move your screen around if you at the same time hold right mouse button and move your mouse around.. thats how you aim.. just look at what you want to use power on.. click power you want and let go of shift.

I know you won't read this until tomorrow because you already said goodnight but I just wanted to clarify a few things about why I went off on my first post.  First of all I am currently attending college with plans on becoming a teacher myself, so it really struck a nerve when ZeroMystic instantly put all the blame of the student onto the teacher.  Second, one of my serious pet peeves is people not taking responsiblity for their own competence.  For example, I aknowlege that I am not at all good with first person shooters, but for some reason I do well with ME 2's engine.

Holy crap I have to take back my earlier statement about not posting on this thread anymore.... are you serious?  You said in your first post that you didn't want to hear ANYTHING anyone had to say and you didn't want any advice at all, now suddenly you're asking for it?  >____<  Have you checked to make sure you actually pickedup the grenade launcher?  You say you definitely picked it up, but somehow I doubt you.

Well finally!  I was waiting for you to pull out the 'you can't prove it' or 'your talking out your ass' line.  That's a classic.  If you really want to take it there, where's you're proof that the problem is you and not the game?  Go ahead an spend 30 minutes of your life re-installing the game and getting that screen shot, I want to see your proof.  Otherwise, you are also 'just talking out of your ass'.  You can't expect me to believe you while you demand proof that you yourself are not providing.
